Hmmm
Its really sad people can breed mutts (even the so-called "bullboxers") and claim they are a "new" breed. Just ridiculous. They dont realize they are losing the traits breeders have been breeding for of the original breeds. People need to learn mutts are mutts, nothing more. Then to have the nerve to sell them for hundreds or even thousands of dollars!! Alot of BS. Now for purebreeds I understand. I sell our APBTs (fullbred and gamebred) for anywhere from $500 to $5000 depending on the bloodlines. These people breeding mutts and selling mutts are giving honest breeders a bad name.
well at first I was concerned about the dignity of the bullboxer, but seeing as how you probably know nothing about them or anyother dog but what makes good bait for your fighters, Im no longer concerned

you are the first person who has genuinely pi$$ed me off, I actually feel angry right now. Amazing I never thought it could actually happen, I actually am emotional about text on a computer screen! oh man I hope you reply, I really hope you reply
I have seen way to many accidents with pits that were thought to get along okay with other dogs.
accidents? accidents? youve seen what? accidents you say, no I'm sorry you have not seen accidents, you have witnessed morons like yourself who dont properly train and socialize your dogs. and you wonder why I hate people like you? you are just like a cocaine farmer in columbia, the root of every problem we face toaday in regaurd to this dog. So on my and everyone around me's behalf thank you for keeping pit fighting rings in buisness and keeping all those "gamebred" dogs killing children and eating people. We love the press you get for us and our dogs. Without you and your efforts half of the posts on this board would not even be here. Glad to have you with us fuck :D

no no no no, much differant but I can see why one could think so, ABs are bigger and taller, and dont have lock jaws, kidding kidding, but yeah they are differant breeds some of the pics on that site are misleading but if you go breeds on this site, well hold on AB APBT maybe that didnt help much, I think ABs are more bulky and a little bit more "smooshed" they are generaly taller to, I think. you will find more healthy ABs in the 130lbs range and healthy APBTs are more like 60-70 this is a "performance" AB, not as smooshed, well nevermind I cant find any good pics, there are 2 types johnson and performance the johnson is a more robust dog with big chest and body. Performance is leaner and meant for work, so the size is less and the their endurance is higher. this is just what I've read so its to the best of MY knowledge -
oh she knows, I let everyone in that house know exactly how I feel I also let the dogs know and the neighbors. Sometimes when I've had acouple mike's lemonades, I'll REALLY let 'em know what I think, all in fun though. One time I got into it with her mom, always in front of other people for comedy, and she told me poms are SLED DOGS oh my god that was was funny I almost peed myself!

Gordonmom said
Dogs in the wild have upright ears because they have to have the ability to heare predetors. That is why the ears are erect and can move about forward and backward. That is why herding dogs have upright ears. Hunting dogs developed drop ears as protectinon from the bruch when having their nose to the ground.
good point, I have failed to look at like this, makes sense. Gordonmom said
The majority of scientists have basically come to the conclusion that evolution and natural selection have come to a halt
I'm not real sure who you are reffering to? canine scientists? and when you say "hault"????? you are talking about dogs?
-
I know this just me, and I'm not putting anyone down but I do not get the mini dog thing, I watch my girlfriend's parents little poms run around the house, and I'm just plain confused, what is the point? you cant wrestle, play or run with it. you gotta pick him up everytime any average sized cat gets close, and if your holding a pencil in front of you, better walk slow cuz he might be behind it! hehe I really dont get the whole mini dog thing, they are just uncalled for and weird.

thanks hobbit I'll check that out, but honestly I want the technical and "boreing" stuff, I figured you would know, so if you have time and are willing  please go ahead and talk about the genetics of all this because that is really what I am after and egg......thanks I pretty much knew all that, but I dont think I was very clear in my first post, I'm mostly curious about the gene pool distance of ie a neo to "the" original molossor if there was such a thing my wolf question was more geared toward a genetic and physical differance than a, I dont even know how to put it, visual differance or maybe dictionary differance, do you see what I mean? and I was actually under the impression that the "native american wolfdog" was our closest relative to a native american wolf. but for that matter how many wolf species are there and what makes a wolf a wolf, and I'm not looking for, "if they live with people..." there has got to be more to it than that

Hobbit, definatly! I am so positive about getting a Neo, but I cant for a few years as their activity level is so much below mine. But a neo will be the dog I die with for SURE!! right now I want an Ab, boxer or Bullboxer or if I found a good Ab/Boxer mix I fear I could not resist, kinda like the Enterprise in a klingon tracking beam -

deepseasnake replied to deepseasnake's topic in Everything about dogs
yeah the more I look the more impressed I am they have like 5 neos! and a whole ton of ABs I've seen dogs on breeder sites that look worse than these going for like 2000$ :o -
has anybody used or know anything about http://www.operationk9rescue.com/rusty.html they have really good looking dogs on there and they all say "purebred" are they for real or are they just trying to clear dogs out?

can somebody breakdown two things for me? first thing, what is a wolf? and why isn't it a feral or wild dog? What is the physical differance? I dont care what "we" think or "people" say I want to know the actual differance from an Alaskan husky, and the Alaskan wolves I see when I go up there? I read part of a really bad article in national geographic about dogs and wolves but it was chok full of scientific fact based on cheerios and alpha bit soup. I was so irretated that these people believe anything ever said by anyone who steped foot on a university I couldnt bear read it any longer. The article did not prompt this question, but it sure did make me wonder about the crap that I take to heart from that magazine. second thing what is the most "true" breed of dog presant today? "true" meaning oldest, untouched and most like the originals. what dogs best represent the dogs that inhabbited this earth first? and is it possible to say what dogs DID inhabbit the earth first or is it more like, some were kinda like shepards some were like Bullmastifs and others were like pitts. this could be a hot topic, I hope I learn some stuff :D
-
WOW, better check his hips, he's probably walking against skin. If you go see the dog could you consider taking a pic and posting it I'm really liking this idea the more I think about it! :D
-
WOW never heard of ambullneos but there are a heep of breeder sites after typing it in on google. They dont look right, kinda confused looking in the eyes, probably wondering why there are so many voices in their head! Those dogs look like any other pit/mastiff I dont see the big deal, especially not a 3000-5000$ deal NO WAY. Mei, you seem to have alot of knowledge about molossers, has their ever been a boxer/AB? or anything close?
-
well, just as the devils advocate here I wanna throw something out, didn't all breeds more or less start out like this, change the motive that is, like with the whole Bullboxer thing, that was a good Idea, maybe some of these people have good intentions in their "new" breeds. dont get me wrong, it is still outrageous to charge these prices. But to be honest since I heard about the whole bullboxer thing, I've been REALLY curious if there is a Boxer/AB mix out there, what an awsome dog that would be! I could easily see someone paying in excess of 1000 dollars for one of these. Provided all the quircks were worked out, and that the dog came out the way I am imagining, that is . Also I read about those Ori peis, pug/shar pei (I dont know how that is even possible) but supposedly they have "fixed" alot of skin and eye problems in both breeds. I'm not saying all they speak is truth I'm just saying someone out there at least tried for a good thing. Its not the creator's (I hate to use that term ) fault that the money vampires got a hold of one and is now marketing it at 2000$. I've read the same thing about golden-doodles. Again I'm not condoning the actions of these "sellers" they sound like any other puppy mill. But it seems like some of these cases might have been for benevolent reasons :D

bite training, probably a question for goo
deepseasnake replied to deepseasnake's topic in Upbringing
hobbit, thats what I thought, its not nice to look at in these pictures, especialy since this dog only competes in bite work and does not perform "bite" duties, but yes it is definatly an essential part of police work. Guess they wouldn't do much good if they let go everytime they were hit  -
when we see "bite" training pics and after the dog has his "bite" exactlly how bad are they hit with that stick? I realize its a MUST as in take down work no one will just sit there with the dogs latched on their arms but is there such thing as excessive?

well hobbit Ive been battling with this question myself for quite sometime now. I feel like Ava said in their home they are varments, here they are exotic majestic creatures. So even though I'm not totaly at home with the idea of taking them out of the wild, I do want them to live and I feel if I own one and take excellant care of it and do my best to make it happy it will stay alive in a good loving home, where in the wild most are doomed to die at the hands of a farmer or someone else out to make a rug, just my opinion though, I can TOTALLY see where you are coming from
-
You didnt step on toes and we do appreciate new people who are willing to talk vs. newbies who do nothing but babble. You have started in an older topic so I must refresh the heat I was in at the begining but as I type now it is surely coming back to me. to address your comment on selection, yes a wolf does not look like a poodle and yada yada yada but I dont think you understood my question or maybe I haven't understood your answer but either way I'll rephrase. If a dog in the wild never possesed a drop ear, no matter how long you give it and no matter how many generations you wait there still will not be a drop ear, UNLESS through process of "natural selection" a chrom. is left behind and what ever develops the erectness doesn't develop, which in fact would mean it was developed in the wild, for the wild. As we all know the definition of "natural selection" is the ABANDONMENT of a trait or traits to "better" the organism. Natural selection is NOT a source of creation, in fact it is just the opposite. Evolution is the model in which creation takes place, not natural selection. So in the case of the drop ears if this was created it was created in the wild through process of natural selection. If that is the case this whole disscusion is irrelevant as drop ears are beneficial for the dog. Otherwise we would have a natural selection process to abandon the flap of ear covering, or better put, the dogs would eventually lose that piece of ear. definition natural selection "Process in nature that results in the most fit organisms producing the most offspring that survive and reproduce" or for you techies out there  "A characteristic of natural selection is that it ONLY works with exsisting phenotypes, which are developed from exsisting genetic information (geneotypes). In other words, natural selection only works with existing information and does not add anything new. It can select from exsisting genes (information), but not create new genes. This is also reffered to as genetic variation" both quotes from Mike Riddle phd and Dr Bob Compton so really what I am left with here is 2 things first that dogs developed the drop ear for good reason and thus it exsits today and I'm right or that dogs fell victim to a negative mutation in which the drop ear was created, and for whatever reason this mutation survived the proccess of natural selection and exsits today in what might be the majority of dogs. so your right DAMN I FORGOT! actually there is a third way I have thought of, genetic mutation is acredited for makeing neutral changes, changes that do not effect the function either way. This very well could be what happend in which case we are both wrong its neither bad nor good to throw out one more quote on genetic mutation this is from Maxim D. Frank-Kamenetski, Unraveling DNA 1997, p. 72 "Mutations are rare phenomena, and a simultaneous change of even two amino acid residues in one protien is totally unlikly. But what is the outcome of a single subsitution? It will either turn out to be neutral (i.e., not affecting the function of a particular enzyme) or negative... One could think, for instance that by constantly changing amino acids one by one, it will eventualy be possible to change the entire sequence substantially...These minor changes, however, are bound to eventually result in a situation in which the enzyme has ceased to perform its previous function but has not yet begun its "new duties". It is at this point it will be destroyed-along with the organism carrying it. so I'm gonna say it was either a "Healthy" change or a neutral one, seeing as dogs still have ears and all :D

now I dont own a pom but my girlfriend does so does everyother member of her family, and I know they are prone to a skin illness that is what you described, cant remember the name off the top of my head, but I believe the treament for it causes complete hair loss for awhile till the dermas recovers. Malina's cousin Josh's pom has it and she is all bald and has been that way for 6 months, they've been fighting the sickness for at least a year now. no matter what get your dog to the vet because you might catch it early if you wait it could be a very long and expensive battle back to normal

my huge pup Oscar had this bad habbit of jumping onto the counter and taking our food when we were out of the room. Once he got a hold of my step dads steak, it wasnt pretty. So my step dad went out bought himself another steak and then bought Oscar one. While he cooked his steak Oscars was marinating in a witch's concoction of every spice we could get our hands on. oscars steak was browned the topped with habanero peppers as well as some other Cajun sauce. Then plan was to let Oscar steal it and then he'd learn his lesson. He took the steak and dissapeared for over an hour which was unusual because he's usually out for like 6 minutes till he's back looking for more. So after another 15 minutes we thought we might have really hurt him and made him sad (after all he is a Golden  ) we thought he may have been hiding somewhere crying. so we went looking for him calling his name, getting more and more worried as we looked. then we found him laying underneath a tree. At first I feared the worst till I got a clear look at his head, HUGE golden smile chewing on the bone of the best steak he'd ever eaten  that was SO funny, you had to be there to really appreciate that smile

the cats are much differant over here, they have been bottle raised for generations and generations. They are the most common of exotic cats in america. you point is a good one although much tamer than the african "sand cats" (thats what I've read they are called) they still are very dominant and energetic. I've not 100% deicided on a sex yet :-? but they mostly live in houses and sleep in the same bed as their owners
