I dont know of a parenting forum, but I run a "satanic ritual abuse" forum, we are always looking for donations
If I remember correctly, I think the money for the TRUTH ads regarding tobacco came from the mega money settlements that FL got from the tobacco industry. Soooooo that explains that. I think?
I'm not sure if the TRUTH adds were part of that settlement or not, but I'd tend to say not. Remeber at the federal level each company was forced to spend X amount of money to anti smoking campaigns? Well at the end of all the TRUTH adds at the bottom of the screen is a little blurb that says, "brought to you by Phillip Morris company" I think those adds are specificaly funded by PM to apease that court order, maybe I agree we should try this out but maybe we should do it at the state level before we go straight for nationals, maybe put together an internet commercial then find out how much local TV stations would charge to run it. Then we can go for donations under a non profit org. I can set that part of it up, but I dont know about makeing the film.

I think taiwan needs to quit eating dogs before we ask them to spay and neuter, one thing at a time whats the differance between a bloody picture and a bloody sound? the only thing I can think of is the picture stays burned in ones head where a sound can be erased by another sound. I know how america works more or less and the only way to get the zombies off their couches is too shock them into action and the only way to be proven yet is graffic images that make people ill. America only cares if it is hurting them, just like Iraq, why dont we go liberate the country? Because no americans have been directly affected by the dictator bastard! Our kids arent raped, burned and Killed so we dont give a flying fuck!! but let me tell you if one senator or congressman went over there for 10 min he'd be 100% to take that degenerate off this planet. okay sorry went a bit off topic, back to the commercial, IMO the only way to effectivly reach those who arent aware already is to jump down their throat and take their heart out! it works trust me it happens every day you turn on the news.....okay about to get off track again, I dont need to say anymore :evilbat:

well mei mei, I never knew how big the problem was till I met you guys. All our dogs had been adoptions mainly because they were cheaper . but I doubt I will ever get a dog from a breeder now. Had you asked me about animal pop. a year ago I would not have even imagined that it was the problem that it is. I think one of the things we must think about is that it is on our minds every day but those people who have never been reached really dont know so they dont care, I'll bet if I saw a commercial on TV that was really graphic it would have burned a whole in my head. I definiatly would have kept that add in my head the next time I wanted a dog. I think if someone made an intensely macabre and gruesome add that was done in letters and no speech, very dark, very long, quite all the way through, people would be hit with it and forced to think about it all the time! and that is when people start feeling guilty and think about doing something. followed up by a "you can help, heres how" campaign I think lives could change
I've always wanted her to come "hear" from my snakes
that probably didnt make sense if you dont have one, so if thats the case I'll clarify, Snakes DO NOT think, everything is reaction so if you were to listen to a snake's mind it would be like listening to Homer Simpson's at a three day ancient liturature seminar

okay, as long as you only tune in for laughs its okay but I got into a HUGE thing with this moron at the hospital about the legitamicy of any "psychic" ESPESIALLY one for animals!!!! I cant sit through a whole episode but I have gotten some great laughs skipping through it. I've always wanted her to come "hear" from my snakes

I think one of the things that really got us screwed up was the belief that ANYTHING is for EVERYONE for every dog that doesnt do good on BARF there is one that cant eat kibble its just a differant way of doing things. ANYONE who says BARF is for EVERY dog is just plain ignant and needs to get edjumakatid nothing works for everybody! I happen to love the BARF idea I'm not a scientist and not a nutritionist but it makes sense to me and sounds good, but if my dog has a problem with it, FORGET it!!!!

Hobbit, just to let you know, I think you are a fricken genius I've learned SO MUCH sense you joined this board! I just want you to know you are appreciated, respected and valued emensily as a part of this group. I have really enjoyed this last thread as we have yet to see you get stirred up. I think you were great, you were completely composed for the duration of your debate and I felt you gave Gordon all the credit you could have and handled her quite well. You never sank to petty name calling or blatent insults of intellegance. So in the words of Mike Tyson from his last fight "I really take my hand off to you" :D

my last was a bit late, it all pretty much still applies just tone it down abit :)
don't understand your 200ppm/100ml, because ppm I assume stands for parts per million multiplied per 100 ml, that's an awful lot of acceptable bacteria. Do you mean 200 CFU/100ml? Water E.coli around here is registered by parts per billion, not parts per millions, so I guess I am not getting you.
I have nothing to do with microbiology or anything of the sort but when I got my certification for contaminated water decon and construction we measure everything by ppm not ppb so maybe its something totally different but Washington State only requires a ppm done and we do have to test for some common strains of E coli Before this very interesting debate between Gordon and Hobbit started I never got a chance to respond to JC, I am not gonna say much, JC you stopped asking questions for science a long time ago I've seen you say the same stuff over and over and over again. You are also not remaining open minded (I truly question if you ever were), you are a self-admitted b!tch and are living up to your description quite well. You keep saying nobody gives me any info but newfie and K, yet you don

HOLY SH!T :o :P Sherlock, you are the MAN, errr WOMAN it all makes TOTAL sense now....jeez I should have figured that one out

what about a Chow I've heard that they are naturally protective but kinda mean with strangers I'd bet with some training mixed with insticnt a Chow would be a shoulder to lean on when the bad guys come to get you, plus they are quite large dogs and so would provide good visual deterant as well, I dont know much about them though just rumors and a friend of mine has one

Just dont buy an Akita those dogs were bred by Lucifer to kill humans for soul harvest

well in the order recieved
By the way (deep...). You and I were discussing the topic of "mutts". Buddy was a "mutt". Yellow lab/retriever mixed with Chesapeake Bay Retriever. When I left the Emergency clinic that morning...my bill was over a 1,000.00! My point to you was this...it shouldn't matter whether the dog's a blue blood or a mutt. They care no less about you, and you should care no less about them. Simple really. I would've spent my last dollar on Buddy. And only paid $40 for him. I got him from the shelter because I wanted to SAVE A LIFE!
I dont know what disscusion you are reffering to right now, but I must have not stated reality accurately because I have NEVER (until know) owned a "purebred" and the one I have now was an adopt from PAWS and her pup which I kept I have no clue to what his father is. So sorry if I said something wrong but I dont think anyone should do anything but adopt. Mutt or no Mutt a dog is a dog they all need homes.
if it was more widely known and understood.
sounds like you know and have done some looking into it and have made an informed desicion
on my experience (with Buddy) and the one actual study I have found, I am just not sure this is the way for me
well now wait, I though you believed that BARF was not widly known and studied, how could you have come to that conclusion after one study?
just hope that you understand that I haven't closed my mind to anything
it sounds to me this was an open and shut case for you you dont sound real "up in the air" right now, which is fine its your choice but from here your looking pretty closed off.
none of you other than newfiemom and k have offered to answer any of my questions.
okay, I was where you are awhile ago and I spent countless nights up reading on both sides of BARF. After so long for me it was a no brainer, but you know what, it was the most grueling research I ever did but I did it, no help, no suggestions. I went out to seek answers to my questions and found them. It's actually why I joined this board I wanted to find a BARFer. My point is yes, I could go back and find all those articles and books and little nutritionist notes and pages but why, you could just as easily find it for yourself. Don

I'll tell you something about vets, Yes they are doctors and Yes they can peform all the stuff that we cant. But in the cases that are surrounded in grey (which really this isnt there are very few people against BARF comparatively speaking) I will very rarely listen to a vet. Did he look into it himself or did he hear what another vet said and just agree because it was advice from a superior. A vet has more things to concentrate on than dog food, and rightfuly so I'd rather my vet not waste his time on food and improve his ability to operate or whatever. Unless your vet specializes in canine digestive systems, all he knows is "germs are bad" and "a bag from a store is guarenteed" or "I dont have to worry about it and thats okay because my clients dont worry about me and Im okay" a vet is just someone who has been told alot of stuff by someone else just like doctors, I was once told by my doctor the Atkins diet would kill you, then I explained that a proper Atkins diet DID include carbs and he said "Oh well......thats probably fine then" he then got the book and said "this is great". He just didnt know and if he would have told me that, I would have second guessed later decisions he made. So he has to giva an answer no matter what. Most time they just go on a gut insticnt, raw food = germs = BAD go talk to a canine stomache specialist or canine nutritionist and go to 5 or 6 and see what they have to say bottom line your dogs your call, but dont go deprive your dogs because a couple "researchers" hired by Iams said BARF isnt profitable for the company, your dogs deserive better than that. I dont do BARF either I cant afford it right now but when I can I will, I hate feeding my dogs out of the bag its just not right, I feel like I'm feeding them cancer pellets or something but until I can afford it its all I can do right now.
-
I think you may want to do some looking into the motives of these people, I to have never heard of anything but positives associated with BARF I did alot of reading on it when I first came to this board and found that it was very accepted and makes complete sense.
..." I BET IF YOU SENT THE SUBSTANCE OFF FOR TESTING, IT WOULD COME BACK POSOTIVE FOR ATLEAST ONE HARMFUL BACTERIA."...
I would agree, but before you send it off also include a piece of kibble and your severed right hand and then we'll see whats the most harmfull and I'll bet its probably NOT the disinfected meat! dont underestimate an animals ability to deal with toxins. They and we are quite good at it, we;ve been at it for some time. I'll bet the food wolf packs eat aren't all that clean either nor the aboriganies in South America. "But thats differant" No its not, both are human and Canine the only differance is enviroment. I gotta go so I'll post more later

except for Akitas they kill eat and mame! never have an Akita around anything you want to live  only kinda joking :-?

I'm thinking AB they are the right color and look just like some AB pics Ive seen on the net Hobbit- what are you talking about, bring it up! :D

well I dont know about you guys but had I recieved an email calling me an animal abuser I would have flown off the handle. I feel most people would have put up some kind of defense. But this guy said nothing, just explained away his dog and that was it. He never told us how much he loved or cared for them he said nothing about being insulted that we felt the way we did. I found his reply almost dredfully complacent, although Im not trying to hang the guy yet, I want to know what is going first however I cannot ignore the signs thus far, but we will see
-
I just got another reply from operationk9 here it is,
I wanted to make sure to keep you updated. I have been in contact today with my contacts with investigators of dog fighting rings. We will be sending someone to the property. Someone who has a background in investigating animal cruelty and fighting rings. I have not contacted the family myself as I do not want to tip anyone off should there be a problem. I am hoping that what we find is a rational answer because if not it would make me sick to my stomach to find out that we had any association with someone who would hurt any dog. We don't adopt to people who don't make the rescues be a part of the family and spoil them rotten Andrea.
I dont know about you all but I think these guys are treating the situation VERY well I am extremely impressed with Operationk9 right now!

I cant contain myself any more...
deepseasnake replied to deepseasnake's topic in Everything about dogs
point taken, but I've read alot that says these dogs are do quite well in working enviroments, given most who say this are bias to the breed but other non owner non breeder opinions similar are out there. anthor thing is Chester is not a very good example of these dogs he just had the look that I like these from http://www.bulldogbreeder.com so those guys are a bit more normal, the other thing is I dont do anything with my dogs except hike, camp and swim (the later of which I doubt the Oldes would join in on  ) so I wouldn't be really "working" them it would be more like "funning" them. I do agree with you Goo, and acknowledge you know alot more about these things than I do, I would never argue a point like this with you but it seems like enough people do have these dogs and from what I've gatherd so far is that the problems with theses dogs are at a minimum or at least "normal" to other "bullys" Im only looking for a pet in them -
...and did you notice in the "stories" section??...
I saw it but did not read them I kinda figured that he they would be dog fight related though
How does he know the dogs are gamebred if they're of "unknown breeding"?
Goo, My thoughts exactly either he proved "gameness" in his backyard or all of a sudden after a doggie "arguement" the one still standing is now a "champ" of which drops game bred pups. Maybe he's not that bad but I can see that kind of crap happening
-
I dont give a sh!t how much one tries to fatten up a RESCUE after everything you dont go off and sell it! PRICK the other major factor for me is that they are "gamebred" and isn't it just perfect for such a person to leave multiple APBTs chained up all day and night, until fight time or what? I dont think he laid claim to every dog on that page Saide being the worst case, even if it was a true rescue the conditions that surround pups Sugar and Hottie are not excuseable by I'm too lazy or whatever else. his reply was supprisingly lacking the typical defensive comments one would expect. Which could be a good or bad thing. I think we should wait for the adoption agency to get back to me about the home inspection to see how he is. I dont know if you guys read their policy page, but they seem VERY thorough and complete so maybe this guy turned things around, but I'm not forgiving him for past atrocities no matter how turned around he is now. Maybe he is fine now but trust is alot harder to get back once lost then to earn in the first place.
