Absolutly stunning. I can't beleive it, 20 years of looking at every single dog book I've ever passed and I've never seen this amazing breed!!! Shame on dog books!!!! :nono:

Does anyone here have any experience with Papillions??? I am going to get one some day down the track and just want to know every little thing there is to know about them!!! Also, what to look for in a breeder (for breeding and showing), special care tips etc :D
-
Oh my, what a BEAUTIFUL breed!!! I've never heard of them before but they are GORGEOUS!!!! What I wouldn't do for a dog like that, I think I've fallen in love with another breed!!! Oh its happening again!!! Now look what you've done to me!

FINALLY SOMEONE IS USING THEIR BRAIN!!!! I've been saying this sort of thing for a long time, but most authoritys think its just easier to blame the breed - I hope the rest of the world picks up on this great idea!

Hitman, just out of curiosity, what breed of dog are you talking about? Only curious....

Better luck next time Malamum!!! :changes: Thanks Rowie, you're such a sweetie  I know what you mean about 'dog walking groups', it is always fun to get together with a group of people and watch all the doggies have the time of their life! Especially when people fall head over heals in love with your dog! The place where we go for dog training is across the road from the pine forest, I was going to walk them through the pine forest and all the way home today after training (its about 10km) but decided I'd better not cuz I've got so much study to do!!! So instead we took them to the pine forsest and just let them run and swim for an hour before heading home. Lily wasn't in a playful mood today, she had a little play with her best mate, Cash, the Pit, as well as a play with Donna the Boxer but pretty much just wanted to sun bake all morning!!! She's doing great in agility though, I'm very proud of her! Oh, and there's a little Papillion at training!!! I don't know if you all know how obsessed I am with Papillions - but I want that puppy!!! But :drinking: I can't :nono: have it :( -
Oh, and Aurora's advice is WONDERFUL! :D (just read it now  ) I would take her advice!! (I agree with Ellie, Aurora you ARE an  )
Oh Rowie  You're going to give me a big head!!! :shocked!:

You can make a fortune out of this!!!! Enough to buy a big mansion and have a throne each for all your little Milvas!!! But mine will have the biggest throne :iloveyou:

My friend Selene, and I decided to give our dogs a day to remember!!! I felt it was time for Lily and Tess to go on a nice long walk, and Selene felt the same about her daschound/cocker spaniel, Sooty. We decided to meet up and take the dogs for a walk out to the pine forest and back, it is about a 16km walk but it was well worth it!!! We met up with Selene and for the first time, Lily met Sooty and guess what? She actually liked her!!! For any one knows, just months ago I was having SERIOUS dog aggression problems with Lily so know every time Lily gets along with another dog it makes me SO PROUD!!!! So we walked around 5km out of town and then we got to the pine forest where all the dogs could run free. They saw a couple of kangaroos they wanted to chase but they were on the other side of the fence that goes around the whole pine forest, so it was all good. We walked around the whole pine forest, about 6km, while the dogs just RAN and RAN the whole time, I couldn't beleive how much they ran!!! They found rabbits to chase and generally had a ball!!! They also swam for like half and hour straight, then went for another swim later. Every time we saw another dog I'd call Lily, put her on the lead so they could meet and guess what? Not one fight!!!! I can't beleive how far my babys come, we met about 8 dogs today and she just wanted to PLAY with all of them! Oh gosh, I'm crying with happyness, this is everything I've ever wanted. I knew she was getting better but just with every new dog she wants to play with it gives me a feeling words could never describe! So we had a picknic lunch, the dogs had a banana each and a bit of meat then we started to head back. The dogs just ran and ran the whole time!!! I couldn't beleive it when we walked the other 5 kms into town and they were still going. Sooty eventually got too tired, those short little legs had done enough running for one day! So I called dad and we got a lift for the last two blocks, Sooty and Selene to their place, us to ours (not far but Sooty couldn't take another step!). Ok, here's the crazy part.... after all that running and swimming (5 hours straight worth), the dogs got home and just ran in circles around the backyard, playing with Donna for hours!!!! Crazy dogs, how do they do it???

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORGEOUS!!!!

I'm with Hmmm on this one, I keep wondering when anybody said that Pits were a danger to humans? To some of you guests that keep popping up (probably the same person under different names, trying to make it look that other people agree with them - we are not that stupid), I've heard you quote a few times that Pits are safe around people, but am begining to wonder what your point is? We know that already, so why do you keep pushing something we've all already discussed 1000 times? Can't you distinguish the difference between people and dog aggression? Like Rott, I'm curious as to your experience with the breed and if in fact you are just pulling this garbage off the net and posting it trying to get a reaction.

Oh Ellie, thankyou - now I'm speechless

Sorry Aussie, but you heard wrong. Breeding any thing that closely related is a recipe for disaster.
It is very, very occasionally done by experienced breeders, but ONLY ones who know in great detail what they are doing and why. I would never, ever recommended it being tried by someone who hasn't been breeding dogs (and showing them and studying genetics) for decades.
Yes, true - but anyone who has to ask such questions is no where near close enough to doing that for at least another 25 years, it takes ALOT of experience to even contemplate line breeding (note - NOT inbreeding, which should never be done) and even then they have to be extremely careful.
-
Ah yes, very good idea, we can be the chosen ones  As an added bonus we get to know that all the little Milva's are getting the best of care  :D

Pumpkin is a great food for dogs, rice is not. When Abbey is switched over to the more "normal" raw diet I would start which switching her food, monitor the crystals, then start adding the supplements. Sometimes supplement themselves can cause allergys or other such things, so just add things one at a time and see how she goes. Also, add yoghurt to her diet, we all know how good yoghurt is! Maybe that friendly bacteria will help clear the crystals?

But Hollywood, we ARE being positive!!! If saying something straight from your heart with all the best intentions is being positive then I can't see that anyone here is not being positive! Look Hollywood, I can see that you aren't going to stop taking your dogs to the dog park just because of some stupid facts that have been proven by millions of dogs, so please listen up now! I have to say that I am an extremely strong beleiver in socialisation, no matter what type of dog is in question, but with certain breeds particular care has to be taken - you know that though, you said so yourself and I respect that. If you still must take your dogs to the park may I make a few suggestions to minimise the risk? I hope that deep down you do know that your boys might suddenly snap and the potential damage they could do to another dog. If you take them to the off lead park only have one off at a time. I know that sounds like something you wont want to do, I wouldn't want to take my dogs to the park and only have one of them off lead at a time! But, just in that chance that a fight does break out you wont have an uncontrolable all out brawl to break up with multiple dogs, also because a fight is much less likely to break out in the first place if only one dog is running free. I know with Lily that she is MUCH more socialable when the other dogs aren't around, having another dog from their "pack" only makes them more confident and more likely to get into a fight in the first place. Also, whenever meeting a new dog, have your boy (which ever one you chose to take to the park on that day) on the lead. I took Lily to the dog park today, it is basically isolated so I took her there to do some off lead training. However, when a dog did arrive I put her on the lead, if it was the type of dog she would not attack (submissive, younger etc) and play was innitiated I would talk to the owner and ONLY THEN would I let her off... I am not one to take chances. I also didn't have my other dogs there and there were no other dogs around at the time. Letting dogs meet willy nilly is a recipe for disaster, some dogs just dont click and if one of your dogs was to meet a dog they simply didn't like the look of it could wind up very messy. See, the fact that they have never been in a fight before is probably not a good thing in a way. Until you know the body language of your particular dog you can't tell if it is even going to get into a fight, and unfortunatly for you and your boys, a first fight for them may be their last. Another thing, PLEASE DESEX YOUR BOYS ASAP!!! You cannot risk to wait another day, every single day that passes your boys are that much closer to becoming aggressive due to hormones. Don't put it off, call your vet TODAY! They are at that age that if not desexed within the next month things may indeed get very nasty. Also, if you aren't already, take your boys to training, get into agility, do as many fun, socialable activitys with your dogs as you can - this way you can also socialise them with a variety of dogs in a controlled environment. I can't think of anything else at the moment, but will let you know if I do. Please do everything I just said, remember we are only here to help you, this is a dog forum and dogs are our lives so of course we only want whats best for your dogs
-
I hope you're not asking with intentions of doing it? Yes, there may be problems, any problems which are recessive and only come out in rare cases will most probably show in the pups, which will lead are life of pain due to a variety of genetic defects which will cost $1000's each year to treat. I'm not an expert but I do know that it shouldn't be done.

LOL, ok. We'll get lots of clones so that every body can have a Milva!!!
-
I once knew a Bull Mastiff with a great big freckle on his toungue!!! The chances are its nothing, but do keep an eye on it, when mum got a black spot on her toungue she went to the doctor and it turned out to be the 7th ever recorded case of a melenoma on the toungue!!! If she didn't go to the doctor she would have been dead in a few months :-?
-
Oh and I would also like to point out, people like this are out to make MONEY!!! They will only say what you want to believe and what is going to sell their product. As soon as I see a non profit study on thousands of Pits that shows a way to curb their dog aggression I wont beleive a word I hear :nono: (which is never going to happen anyway because all the training in the world wont stop a naturally aggressive dog from being aggressive, the best it can hope to do is train a dog to IGNORE the types of things it would usually show aggression towards, but common sence and common knowledge tells me that!!!!)
-
Aww, but I want her  Can I clone her? Can I? Can I?!
My whole point is some of you people jump on your band wagon when I come on here just to say Hollywood & Hercules are acting well still. I would think you would say more encouraging things. There is no reason for anyone to always give me a lecture on pitbull dog agression.
Hollywood, I for one did say more encouraging things, you just chose not to listen, which is probably the reason why most of us did get pissed off in the end - because you disreguarded the positive encouragement we gave you and simply chose to retaliate at the rest, the information that we researched and only posted to help you and your dogs. Like i said, arrange play times with dogs you and your boys know, go to dog training and socialise them on lead, but for heavens sake, don't put other family pets at risk because you are doing what you beleive is right. Look at the facts, you said yourself, that you are still learning, if that is the case please stop putting other lives at risk while you learn. I couldn't comprehend how upset I would be if either of my dogs was to die simply because someone else was "still learning". Especially at this age, right up until they are 3 years old and beyond, you should keep them on lead when ever meeting any new dog, and watched carefully when playing with those they do know. Please listen and take note, we are only trying to help you!!!!
Lisa shows you the commands and principles that transform the dogs into adoptable family pets that are 100% safe around children.
This is bullshit!!! NO DOG can be considered in any situation as 100%safe. Dogs are animals!!! You cannot train a dog to be "100% safe", even in the best natured dogs things can, and do, go wrong. Just wait, in a couple of months we will see this woman in the news with a big lawsuit slapped on her arse.
