ok I'll change it to say "no distinguishing recognizable TRAITS to any known breeds"...I actually think that's more accurate. Thanks HF!!

no worries! I took that out of my old term paper, from college. If I bothered to look it up, it would probably fall under line 15 in the various different definitions and usage of "allegience"....

definition of hybrid is two different "species", genetically close enough that they can produce offspring, but ordinarily do not. "A classic example of a hybrid in mammals is the mule. Normally, horses and donkeys do not interbreed and are considered separate species. However, if a male donkey breeds with a female horse, they create a "mule". The mule is sterile and cannot create any babies. The mule has traits of both its mom and its dad - it is easy to train, strong and has great endurance. Because there can never be a "group" of mules living and breeding in the wild, mules cannot be their own species." dogs do not "hybreed"....they are the same species, and all can mate and produce offspring. Their offspring can also produce offspring. same as wolves and dogs. or coyotes and dogs. two different "purebred" dogs can breed, but their offspring are not hybrids. they are then "mixed breeds". If there are enough mixes in the pot, it becomes a Mutt, defined as a canine with no distinguishing recognizable allegience to a specific breed. Interestingly enough, if the dog cross breeds with other dogs for enough generations, the eventual animal ends up looking like....a wolf. Full circle.

Alex thought it was a giant water bowl...Free we coax into it with her favorite ball. she had to get in the pool to bring it out, and oncein realized she liked it. Laurel? Couldnt care less. She likes to lay under the blue spruce and bring all the wood chips in stuck to her fur....

I feed them at 7. they want me to fed them as soon as I walk in. AINT gonnahappen. I yelled at both, and made them lie down, til 7. pushing Laurel of my shoulder, and a very stern LAY DOWN! I KNOW THAT FEELING CAIRN!! Laurel countersurfs. while I was at work, she helped herself to the leftover pizza the kids LEFT ON THE COUNTER!!!! and got bowels sick..all over... I wanted to throttle the kids, while cleaning up at lunch... there was quite a scene here at lunch time....   it WONT happen again... :evilbat: :evilbat: :evilbat: -
do you have "dollar stores" by you? I got free's pool for 4 bucks! at a dollar store. it's cheap plastic and wont hold up to much, but good enough for the dog to play in and lay down in. Avoid the inflatable ones, they pop them. damn dogs popped my air mattress!!!

actually I did. He went through it (completely, all gone) in 20 minutes. I dont have him anymore, and the two dogs now dont like the compressed. The prefer their rawhide "soft" to start with. I soak it. they dont have issues with it, or havent, but I;'m always here while they chew. they both chew for about 20 minutes, then get bored and stop. the little bones last days. neither will touch a kong, for chewing. once the food is gone, they're done. if not stuffed, they wont touch it. **sigh**
-
both of mine chew on rawhide (when I'm home to supervise) and it has improved Laurel's teeth and breath alot. Her breath could knock you over when I first got her. I dont buy the bleached ones, or the basted ones. Just the natural rawhide (you can get it at petstores) but you do have to be there to supervise.I have never had an issue with it. I wont leave them alone with it though, just in case. although I have large dogs, I buy the small bones (8 to a pack) and give them one when they are gone, every few days. Both seem to like that better since they are not avid chewers. Alex needed the large economy size, because he could go thru a huge one in a hour. and he needed to chew. kongs didnt do it. No chew toy I could find would satisy his chewing urge. he went thru greenies like paper. and he didnt like raw bones, he wanted it to become soft.

some dogs dont like the sprinkler. My Lab loves it, bites at the water as it comes out, but the hound wont go near it. If they both like to swim, maybe a mid size kiddie pool would be the way to go. just something they can lay down in. You can see Free likes hers... I've NEVER been bitten, although a dachsund tried...  -
I had issues with the whole "Pit Bulls dont communicate" thread anyway. But since I have never owned one, who am I to know? My personal opinion is that ALL living beings (Pit Bulls included Primmy) communicate, or they couldnt survive. Hell, its been postulated that PLANTS develop ways over generations to STOP animals from eating them. Would that not be a form of communication? they seem to do it in sync... NO animal is blind to the signals of other animals, or people. Some may choose to ignore (a dog in high prey drive for instance) but they ARE communicating. IMO. feel free to correct me. I have been known to be wrong before.
I cant be here 24/7 to monitor... _________________
nor should you have to. Once again, we have been drawn into fighting with each other over this subject. I am beginning to believe that is some of Primmy's intent, no matter how well Carla likes her. Nothng against you Carla. Can we all take deep breaths, chill out and enjoy the photo's please? I thought they were adorable myself...
