1. Hey Malamum, is it true that your water drains counterclockwise, or is that an urban myth? Shara is right about the cold. It's worse for her than me, she's farther north, but winters here in Chi-town can be damnably cold as Divine can attest to as well. What's a normal winter temp for you guys? and is it really hot in the summer? just curious.....
2. OK TOO funny.....the dog food bowls get run thru the dishwasher once a night, with the pots and pans. I asked Kyle to feed them, and he comes out and says "I cant feed them". "why not?" "the bowls have dog hair in them".....'WHAT?" of course they do, they're DOG BOWLS.... "you let them eat dog hair?" "Kyle, they LICK themselves all day. you dont supposed they're eating dog hair then?" "GROSS!!!" and out he goes....
3. I was thinking the same as Kat. Maybe the combo of heat, and stress she can sense from you, is impacting her performance for the trials. just a thought...
4.      ok sorry but I cant help it...I woulda LOVED to have said "oh definitely not. this is a new "Sh**less dog", recently developed breed. They never have to defecate"......with a completely straight face....
5. this made me think of something ironic/funny. when Jarvis was a puppy he was gated in the kitchen until housebroken, and chewed up a whole side of a cabinet. but that was it, until I got married. he then proceeded to destroy my wedding shoes. only those. never chewed up a shoe before or after.......think he was trying to tell me something?
6. hey Devine, I know verbals wont work, but there must be visual clues she responds to. give us some of those!!
7.

I was right - no one else was crazy enought to be out late at night in the middle of winter at the dog park so we had the whole place to ourselves.
:o :o When's your winter? Now I'm curious   We're in the middle of summer! Although it's not acting like it  Been raining and storming for a week!! :( Well, when it actually IS hot out, I always put the fan to the dog's liking
Australia's almost completely opposite of us. Our summer is their winter, and vice versa... I believe its because we're in the Northern Hemisphere, and they're in the Southern....
8. I was reading through some of the episodes and this caught my eye.
Regular exercise and a firm resolve not to over-feed your Lab (they make a fine art of begging) are a must - as they can easily become overweight
yep. this guy's been around Labs....
9. y'know I got to thinking about this...isnt what she is doing illegal? Is Kat around anywhere? when you adopt from a shelter or rescue, dont you normally have to sign an agreement that if for whatever reason you dont want/cant keep the dog you're supposed to return it?I had to to get Laurel....is that different in other places? selling it would put her in breach of contract if that law applies from wherever she got the dog....I would think....
10. well, free was never much of a chewer, nor Laurel, except for rawhide....ALEX, on the other hand.... 2 TV remotes 1 cell phone 3 leather belts 2 baseball caps got caught starting to chew on the my sons leather jacket....
11. I did it when my dogs were teething. you can get buillon cubes with low sodium content, look for the diabetic/sugar free aisle in your grocery store if you have one. most diabetics need to stay away from high sodium levels, and they may have some there. if not, then yes, dillute them alot. but my dogs all loved them you can do it with chicken cubes too. same thing, try to get the low sodium ones
12. well, in the summer when it's really hot I will wait until the sun has gone down to walk them, because Free is black and gets overheated so easily. and of course the pool and the sprinkler come out during the day so they can stay cool. I will leave the air conditioner on during the day even tho I'm not here for them. they get filtered water, same as we do....
13. tonight and tomorrow are the big test for anyone wanting to try this. there will be fireworks going off all over the US all night.
14.
change your locks he has no right to just walk in- he can ring the bell like any other visiter and arrange a time when your son is home for his visitation rights
oh he doesnt have a key. If the door is locked he has to ring the bell. but it was nice out yesterday and I had the doors open to cross ventilate the house, so he tried to just walk in. she wouldnt let him. he was trying to open the storm door, which wasnt locked. 8)
15. well, I took her off the peppermint. it made her hyper to the max. but the Melatonin is working very well. she is calmer, not lethargic, but less afraid. she stillbarks and bays when startled. but no accidents. hoping hoping hoping... she has no fireworks fear, so maybe she didnt really need the peppermint... no thunder fear either. 8)
16. he was part malamute and part BC and MAYBE part wolf. that's why that inclusion was on my lease. He was very dominant, but in an opposite affect. He would let people IN, but not OUT. Not sure where that came from...
17. Free was brought up with my Ex, he is responsible for most of her current problems today. But she likes him. He showed up today to visit Kyle for the 4th. he has this BAD habit of letting himself in. and making himself at home (probably because he knows it annoys the **** outta me). Laurel wouldnt let him in!! she barked/bayed at the door, and growled every time he tried to open it. he eventually yelled "ARE you going to let me in, or not?" I have to let him visit his son, legally, but I couldnt help myself... "NO. I have told you before to stop walking in if the door is open. NOW you can STAY OUTSIDE!!!" Kyle wasnt here, so didnt hear any of it. he came back a few minutes a later and they went off to "visit"...Laurel got treats.... I'm SOOO bad, I know. :evilbat: :evilbat: :evilbat:
18.   my bad.... I didnt understand the comment. didnt know it was a child who made it. I apologize. it just sounded odd.... still, the dog shouldnt be out there.
19. Kat is quite correct. you are not supposed to block a fire escape with anything. AND the dog requires shade and water, especially if its a metal crate. I would report it. If the owner does not comply (and I dont understand their comment AT ALL..."Well you have to understand we love dogs and my momma hates to see that. " hates to see what? that they love dogs, or that the dog is crated on the fire escape? if the former, momma sounds a little looney too. it's a bad situation any way you look at it, and needs to be reported.
20. there are various "wild cat" rescues that are trying to repopulate the declining breed in the wild. maybe she's one of them? I hope so....
21. I registered at Petfinder as well and sent the message to them too.
22.
The internet is a beautiful thing: Thats her! And she also uses this email address: Bradley_Nowell_99@yahoo.com
I live in council bluffs iowa and im looking for a free pitbull puppy and a free boxer puppy. If you can help me please e-mail me at Bradley_Nowell_99@yahoo.com
http://www.magicyellow.com/forums/General/m20295.htm y'know, I was just thinking that. This message will get out, literally, at a speed unheard of in the past. Before, ads would have to be taken out, flyers posted, word of mouth depended on. she would have gotten away with it for quite a while before being caught. Now, with the web, she could potentially be shut down at any minute. Keep spreading the word!! 23.
of course there are exceptions to every rule. there are highly trained, extremely knowledgeable aco's, but they're few and far between. if you want to see bad animal control, come to my shelter. the rejects we have to deal with are afraid of dogs and refuse to pick up cats (even though they're required by law).
I tend to agree with that. The ACO's here are given a mini-course on dog personalities and characterisitics, but by no means are they trained to recognize each breed and what it's traits are. and they are told that some dogs are more potentially dangerous than others. at least here they are shown in the mini-course how to recognize true signs of aggression, and if they think they see it they are immediately to call the police and get them involved. their job is to keep an eye on the dog and make sure it doesnt get out of their site. the police will handle any aggression issues. if thedog does not appear aggressive they can make the attempt to capture it (usually with food of some sort) and take it to the police station. From there it is taken to a shelter if no calls about it in a few hours. I had to pick Alex up there when he slipped through a hole in the fence I didnt know was there and ended up at the local liquor store. he followed someone inside!! the guys at the liquor store were playing with him. I called the police and they said they had just picked him up from there. I had only had him two days then, and didnt have tags for him yet, and got lectured BIG TIME about that by AC... so I guess it depends on the laws where you are...
24. awwww....what a sweetheart....
