1.
von stephanitz always focused more on temperament and working ability rather than on looks. in his opinion, a good dog can't come in a bad color. :)
I couldn't have said it any better!!
2.
I also saw a picture once of Hitler sitting with one of his GSD's which looked EXACTLY like a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog (which is really what the original GSD's looked the most like).
Is this anything like a Sarloos Wolfhound?
3. MY HOME VISIT IS TOMORROW!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!
4. Both of my boys are COMPLETELY flat backed. There is NO slant to them at all. The breeder we got them from couldn't stand the 'new look' to them. I wonder how these dogs can even walk!! I does look so crippling....
5. Well.....look at how breeds change. Just the breed itsefl. Who remembers when Labs were medium sized dogs breed to run in and out of water all day long? Now, people brag about having 110 pound labs. Look at GSDs. The first pic is from AKCs website. The second is VA Ghandi von Arlett SchH3, Kkl 1a. 6. Oh that is WONDERFUL news!!!
7. Yes I have....and I LOVE your kids!!! They are just great....I am such a HUGE fan of the breed. I have been for about 10 years. I can't wait to see if he would want to get into the ring like his big 'brothers'!! Wouldn't he just be a trip???
8. Congrats on the CD!!! Obedience is like a disease!!!! It just takes you over!!
9. We don't have him yet. :( We are still waiting for a home visit. There is NO ONE in our area to do it so we are having a lot of problems with it. But we are all approved to adopt him. And I don't know why anyone would turn us down after a home visit! Brand new home, brand new fence, and I am a total clean freak!!! But, he is from Crest-Care. That is our national rescue organization. He is 8 years old and loves everyone! Kids, other dogs, cats, rabbits, people, car rides, and so much more. He just seems so very well rounded and we think he will fit into our home so well!! My husband and I wanted to rescue but we didn't feel we could really take on a special needs dog because of our two GSDs and three cats. We needed someone a little more outgoing and I think we found that in Tater! But trust me, once we get him, I'll flood this place with pictures!!!
10. Yeah!! Hey Crested....go check out my new boy that I am adopting.....go search for posts about 'Tater'. That's him!!! You'll like him!!
11. I know that we all hate generic responses....but it makes you think....if they had to make up a generic respons to this little tiny blurb of an article...then they must be getting bombed!! Did anyone else see the article? It's like a corner of a page.....it's small. So for People to have to make a generic reply.....then it is kind of a good thing....that means they are sending out a LOT. Right?
12. Wonderful!!!
13. Signed as 12,336. Bunch of sickos......
14. I thought it was an IG or a whippet..... If i am remembering correctly.....
15. Oh....and another tip.... I keep a box of baby wipes by the door!! They are really nice to used for any muddy spots on the coat from rough play outside....and if you need some moisture for paws...there ya go!! MUCH cheaper than the 'Doggy Wipes' you can buy in the store!!
16. I straddled Dakota and held his head with one arm....and used my free hand to do drops. Or....had my husband do drops while I held on tight. Isn't this silly? I'm an ophthalmic technician....I do this day in and day out....I used to work in Pediactrics for goodness sakes! And I had to fight with my dog to get drops in!
17. I totally agree with Lyn that they do know the drill! Now they offer paws, both front and back to me. I just have to squat down in front of them, and I get both front feet offered. Then I move to the back, and they lift up thier back feet for me. It probably took a few days for the front feet, and about 2 weeks to start offering the back. Dogs are such creatures of habit! All they need is a routine and they will fall right in step!
18. We only have two GSDs (big ones....120 and 110) and our yard gets to be a mud pit. But we have rules. There is NO flying around anywhere to come in. They wait by the door....come in one foot at a time and get wiped off. NO exceptions. We have a beautiful brand new home. Only 6 months old. I refuse to have it look like crap because we have two large dogs. I also vacumm at least once a day.....usually twice downstairs. I'm always wiping things down......but that's just me. I have to have it clean. I believe that I can have pets and have a clean house as well. We also have three indoor cats and are planning on adding another dog. So try feet wiping....and stopping the running!!! No one runs up to the back door. And no one barges into the house without getting wiped off. Even coats get rubbed down if it is raining outside. I have a very large blue rug right in front of the door so after I get feet cleaned, we work on legs and bellies. It's a process.....but it saves my house!!! And my off white carpet!
19. I guess we can't even use puntuation any more....I think our first born will be: ? Sound good?
20. My Harley has a 'strange' meow. I call her my 3 pack a day smoker. It is so gravely and raspy. Well, one day I came home and she started talking (like she always does) and it sounded NORMAL!!! Just like a normal cat. She did this for about an hour....then went back to her regular meow. My husband even scooped her up when he came home and was worried....and he can't stand her meow! He say's it obnoxious. She puts a Siamese to shame..... I guess I didn't answer your question......but our Ace has the same thing happen to him as well. He'll be fine....then all of a sudden, nothing. Not sure.....but I've had it happen before if that makes you feel better!
21. Can I get an AMEN??
22. Pyr, we get wolf all the time!! If you could see him in person, he looks NOTHING like one! It's so silly..... Rin Tin Tin's mother was a white GSD. And actucally, Hunter and Dakota are from the same parents. Just a litter apart (yes....I have a feeling the breeder overbreeds....she no longer speaks to us). But the white is on the Dam's side. Neither parent is white.
23. Okay....so if we stop giving our dogs 'people' names....then stop naming your kids: Apple Coco GOT IT??
24. What an angel.....
25. DO, don't you just love it when they look at their bellies with this perplexed look on their faces? I just laugh when Hunter gets them.....
