Or work with puppy push ups. Different combos like DP said.....but work on speed after a while. Stuff like: Sit. Down. Stand Down. Stand. Sit. Sit. Stand. Down. And so on......always mixed up! DP....I think it's hysterical when Hunter just starts offering me stuff out of the blue. I don't even have to be looking at him and he'll just walk up and do a front......then fall back into heel.....he's just so funny now that I've been working with him more!

Lazy----"I had to save my family from the evil Boa"
ObedienceGrrl replied to PaulaB's topic in Everything about dogs
She killed it! That is the funniest thing I have seen! Good to know that you'll always be safe from feather boa's when she's in the house! -
If a dog's mouth is so clean, then why do dog bites get infected? I wish I knew where it started as well. EVERYTHING has bacteria in it's mouth!

I've always thought the cutest dog is a Bichon in a show clip.

My first guess would be allergies. That could be why he ended up in the humane society to begin with! A lot of GSDs have very sensitive skin. I don't like having ANY corn, wheat, or soy in the food I feed my boys. Previously, the only 'good' food that I could get my hands on was Nutro Natural Choice Chicken and Oatmeal. It didn't have any of the above in it. But more recently, I am switching to Eagle Pak Holistic Lamb/Oatmeal/Rice. I'd frist rule out some food allergies. Look for a duck and potato formula or a venison and green pea. That might be of help to you. If not, contact your vet for a referral to a dermatologist to get some further allergy testing done. We spent months at a vet with our cat. And all she did was push steroid use and antibiotics. I finially said, "Screw this," and found a dermatologist. We ran the testing and found out what I had thought all along. An allergy to Canine Dander. So now he's on shots and is 99 % better (only on the shots for a few months). He's just a joy to be with now because he feels better!

Positive thoughts for Bongo please

I am very sorry.....you will make his remaining time with you wonderful. He will love every minute of it. -
I'd wait. I have always heard that you shouldn't mix flea/tick medications. But again, I could be wrong!

Of course, Kat. Crufts is the ultimate. A lot of the dogs go 'triple crown' so to speak. Like Mic (the Kerry Blue) two years ago. I thought he was stunning. And I am NOT a terrier fan!

our german shepherd attacked my sister!
ObedienceGrrl replied to delh1's topic in German Shepherd Dogs
It doesn't sound like NILIF will work because it sounds like the dog is just left on someone's property without anyone being there. Also dog fighting. So to me, it doesn't sound like this dog is in a house. It would be must more humane to have the dog euthanized before it caused any more harm. -
Okay.....the food that I have now is the Eagle Pack Holistic Lamb/Rice/Oatmeal. I have heard you guys on here say that it is also a good food. And it's tiny bites!!! Just what Tater loves! I'm taking back the Solid Gold that I started switching him too. He's really, really, really gassy on it! Plus there is also extra added live cultures in the Eagle Pack. TDG probably already knew that, along with the rest of you....but I didn't! Will start doing snackies before bed. Because, now that I think of it, most of the vomitting is first thing in the morning.

I'm with Kat on this one. I use my voice as a marker. Yes Good Right Same thing.

Okay.....so here's their schedule. Let me know how I should change it. They eat at 8:00 am when my husband leaves for work. He leaves around 8:30 or so but feeds them before. When I get home from work (at roughly 4:45) I feed everyone shortly after. Usually around 5:00 or 5:30. After every gets in from outside and wiped and settled. So do you suggest that I feed them later at night? We go to bed around 10:00. There is no one home during the day to feed them any earlier. Niether of us would ever be able to make it home during the day.

When they do vomit, it is just the yellow bile. They are fed twice a day. I can the get California Natural. That is by me. I have this great store that has all of those products, plus Sold Gold, Royal Canin, Wellness, and so many others that I have forgotten. Like I said, it has drastically reduced since being taken off the Bil Jac. But still there. Also, since being put on the yogurt, the diarhea has stopped. I didn't mention that. They would have bouts of diarhea AT LEAST 2 times a month. Bad blow out kind. Now that we've been doing the yogurt for 3 months there has been nothing! So I'm thrilled!! But I will look for something stronger. I can do that this weekend!

I'm so sorry, Nay. You know he was so happy to spend his remaining time with you.

I know you'll just have a blast there! Good luck with getting pics of everyone and putting them up on Petfinder!

That's why I'm posting it here. Both GSDs tend to vomit ALOT. And it's always that yellow-y foamy consistancy. When I first moved in with my husband, he was feeding them dry Bil-Jac because that is what the breeder told him to feed. He's VERY particular about his dogs and wouldn't let me change food. They threw up EVERY day. Finally I was able to switch. Now this was at our old house and we were not close to ANYTHING. We lived waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out in the country so I didn't have access to much. So the best that I could find was Nutro Natural Choice Chicken and Oatmeal for sensitive stomachs. No corn/wheat/or soy at least......so it was better than the Bil-Jac and it really cut down with the upset stomachs. Since we have moved in May I have begun adding Plain yogurt to their food and they just love it. But we are still having the same problems with the vommiting....just not as often....but it's still there. Is this a food issue? Do I need to switch? If so.....what would you recommend? There are a TON of choices that I have now. I can get pretty much anything except Wysong (had to order that for the cats). The cats are on Solid Gold and I am switching Tater over to it, but I'm not sure I'll keep him on it. Sorry for this being long.......

I use baby gates in my house when I do my training inside. I just gate the other 3 in a room and work with one at a time when I'm working on new commands. But once they have the command down, the distractions are welcome since the real world is not distraction free. Or.....if the weather is nice (which it's not here) you can go and work outside. I do that in nice weather. That gets some one on one time.....and again, there are times that you can add distractions outside as well! My lhasa had her long sit/down stay perfect INSIDE. The very first time I took her outside it was hysterical! I was going to run throught it just like in the ring. So I put her in a down, unlipped her leash and layed it behind her, pretended to take off an arm band and laid it down, then turned and walked 30 feet away. When I turned back around, Shasta was romping around the yard chasing bugs, flies.....grass, leaves.....just having a blast!! So I knew what we had to work on!!

Should a dog aggressive dog have puppy's?
ObedienceGrrl replied to KookieSista18's topic in Everything about dogs
I just don't understand some people, AAP..... My husband and I question others all the time. We hear about animals starving or freezing to death and look at our 6 (7 if you include the foster) and we just don't understand. We'd give anything for our kids. Before I lost my Scooter (she was 17 when she passed), if someone would have come up to me and said that I could have taken years off my own life to give to her, I would have. But here is someone that looks at a dog as a money maker..... But.....I guess that's why I'm here......to do my best to rescue and rehome and educate, right? -

A lot of breeders do the 'contract' thing, though. Especially if the new owner will show the dog and the breeder will be listed as a co-owner. Other than that, I think just making an average 'pet' dog go through one breeding is crap. But for showing purposes, I understand. But the breeder will only come back and breed if the dog has proved itself in the ring/field (whatever type of showing you do) to be the best and most acurate description of the breed. Am I right, guys?? I thought this was how it worked......but again, I don't breed. -
That is a very nice PSA. I really like him.....or maybe it's just the accent! I love New York accents!! They all sound like they walked off the set of the Soprano's!!

All of the spaying and neutering done in most Ohio shelters is done at 10 weeks.

okay....sounds good, guys!! I know of a place that carries both of them...so I'll give them a shot!
