1. The only reason we chose this house was because it was a BRAND new development and the builders actucally told us that they didn't think there would be a HOA.....and if there was, it would be after all 400+ homes were built. Seeing as we were the very first people to move in, we figured it would take a LOOOOOOONNNNNNG time. Man....this just burns me. But thanks to you guys, I can let it out plus get some ideas! I'll keep everyone updated!
2. We are all pretty upset about the whole thing..... When we first moved in, like I said, there was nothing. We signed nothing in our closing...... That was April 30th. In JULY we got a packet in the mail 'welcoming' us to our new homeowners association! We were floored. Especially since they said the ONLY fence material that can be used is wood. We had a $6000 vinyl fence installed in May. WTF??? So we fought tooth and nail for that fence. Especially when the fence contractors looked for a H.O.A. for our new development and couldn't find one. They had a lot to be worried about too, because if they installed a fence that wasn't 'allowed' they had to come and rip it down and put up a new one at no cost....and also give us any money back that was overage. Now.....our neighbor came over on Wednesday to show us this new packet of rules he got in the mail. No one else has gotten one yet. Just them. It's really awful. Now, I can understand a H.O.A. if we lived in a condo....where they would take care of the entire outside of our building.....but WE BOUGHT THE DAMN HOUSE!!!!! Will they cut my grass? No. Will they shovel my driveway? No. My sidewalks? No. The streets will be taken care of by our city......NOT the HOA!!! What are they doing for us???? So trust us.....we are VERY upset and will be on the phone with them on Monday morning. Oh....and BTW....our HOA consists of a husband and a wife who DO NOT live in our development. WTF????
3. Our homeowners association just sent out our new rules and we have TWO viscious GSDs!!! I didn't know that....I'm soooooo glad they told us!! I would have never known that they were mean!!! What would I have done without that information? *gag* We will be fighting this HARD. Also.....no dogs over 65 pounds. This is a BRAND new neighborhood. When Jeremy and I first moved in, there was NO HOMEOWNERS ASSOCATION. We were also the VERY FIRST PEOPLE THERE BY OVER A MONTH. We were told that there wouldn't be one until all 400 homes were built and occupied. Well.......there are a total of 14 homes occupied. And now we have one. No dogs over 65 pounds, no pits, no bullies, no rotties, no dobes, no GSDs, no aggressive dogs, or no dogs that create a nuscience. Our neighbors have two boxers (over 65 pounds), one has a male rottie, one has a cane corso, and one has two LARGE mixed breeds. WTF???
4. AAP....great news!! Sizzle...when I click on the link, the pages are blank. And on the top it says, "Woah, were'd that dog go?" So someone did take it down!
5. I love the Peruvian Inca Orchids! They are just stunning! But we know I'm partial to naked dogs!
6. I have heard of people making dog hair sweaters...... But, just like a dog.....THEY SHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7.
I dont think that either one is better than the other. I think what matters is how the dogs owner handles it and what sacrifices they are willing to make for the happiness and well being of their pets.
Ya know.....I really have to agree! We have a fenced yard....and it's nice. But my parents don't have one....so when we go up there, we walk everyone. I really enjoy both ways! I like the fence because I love to be out with the boys and play. But I also like the walks because I love to show everyone off!!! And the boys love to meet new people!
8.
I dislike poodles and any hairless dogs. (yuk!)
No disliking here.....especially with the hairless dogs, please...... :)
9. Okay....puppies hurt when they nip your hands..... Can you imagine? My boobs hurt.....
10. Okay.....when you see "Obedience Show - N - Go", what is it??
11. Oh my......please update!!!
12. Dakota and Hunter howl horribly when the phone rings more than once. Try answering it with two GSDs practically screaming in the background. They won't stop after you pick it up, either!!

A dremel is a grinding tool that has tons of uses!! One of them being grinding down a dog's nails. This is a pretty nice site that goes over some great basics! Over to the left of the page will be "How to dremel a dog's nails" link. http://homepages.udayton.edu/~merenski/doberdawn/index.html
14. A transport is a wonderful idea. Explain to them your situation......they should be able to help. Also, see if you can forward those pics to anyone in the group. They will be even more willing to get him in with them if they see his condition.

I was doing them once a week as well. Dakota is great with them. He just lays down. Hunter is fine too, but it does take him just a minute and then he relaxes. Now I haven't tried Tater yet, but his F.M. said that she used a dremel but he still didn't like his feet touched. So we'll work with him on that! But he clicks something awful on my floors. And even just looking at his feet, his nails look soooooo long in comparison to Hunter's and Dakota's!
16. Could it be distemper that is making him walk funny? If they negelct him with food, then who's to say they get him vaccinated either, ya konw? And is he a Great Dane? Why would someone get any dog....let alone pay a LOT of money for a pure bred and neglect it like that? I bet a Dane rescue would take him if the shelter did not.
17. He's home! And he's just wonderful!!!! He's already ploped on the couch and started playing with the boys. He peed and poopied outside, he's just such a good boy!!! I'll put up pics in the Pictures forum! Go check them out!!!

I haven't quicked them yet with the dremel and I feel I've gone rather close. Close to me is when they don't 'click' on the floors! How often do you do it? And do you pair it up with teeth brushing or anything else?

How many of you use a Dremel (or some type of grinding tool) for nails? I love mine, but I was wondering, how short can I go? I have heard that if you go a little shorter each time, the quick recedes. Is that true? The boys do so well with it. They both just lay there. Hunter ususally lays his head on my outstretched leg and shifts when I switch paws. Dakota just sniffs my hair the whole time! And Tater's F.M. says that she uses a Dremel too, so I won't have to worry too much about getting him used to it!
20. Isn't the Ridgie a sight hound? And about big labs (this just burns me) my only guess is that a lot of people think bigger is better. If you want a big dog with short hair, get a mastiff. Ya know?? And I have NO idea why someone slanted the GSDs. It's frightening. They look almost crippled. It actucally hurts me to watch them in the ring.
21. I am very excited.....words just can't describe!! His F.M. just emailed me and said that she can't believe that by this time tomorrow he'll be out of her hands. And how's she's really going to miss this one. She has had him since April. What do I say to her?? I was thinking of bringing her flowers and a Thank You card for just being who she is and what she does..... But does anyone else have any advice?
22. Tater is coming home on Saturday! I am soooooo excited. I spoke with his foster mom for about 20 minutes last night. She is part of a transport for 4 pugs and is going to meet the next leg at the same Petsmart where she and I are to meet. So she said she would just bring Tater along! So on Saturday evening, he'll be napping on our couch! His F.M. gave him a bath last night and packed up his bags with his clothes and a few toys. We'll take some pictures and post them up here as soon as we can!!!
23. Would this work for chronic yeast infections in the ear as well??
24. I totally agree with Kat. One on one time.....even just some training time would be great! My boys love their time alone with me when we do some light obedience. Also, sleeping with something of Justin's is great. Dakota will do that when Jeremy goes out of town on business. It keeps him much calmer!
25.
Does he have his pedigree? I mean... Don't you guys need it to take your dogs to shows? We here need papers that show the dog is actually a Chinese Crested and it's had all his vaccinations done.
Well, we can get an ILP (Indefinite Listing Privilege) from AKC. You send of a few pictures of your dog with what type of breed you think he is and if they believe you, then you get one! Then they can be shown in any AKC show. I'm sure it won't be too hard to tell Tater is a hairless CC!!!!
