Okay....I see two types of Eagle Pack. Please let me know the difference! I want to switch everyone in my house....but to a TEENY TINY kibble. TEENY TINY TEENY TINY TEENY TINY The regular Eagle Pack has the tiny kibble. But is that a good food? Right now, I am actucally pounding up Tater's food with a meat tenderizer (in a plastic bag). He doesn't have many teeth in there. And.....before anyone says anything, I'm not pounding it to dust......just into smaller bites.....He has a hard time crunching everything up. But he doesn't like 'mush'.....he wants crunchy.....just not big crunchy. Thanks guys!!!

Oh Nay.....I'm so so sorry. Whatever decision you make, you know it will be the right one. Trust your heart.

People who know NOTHING of the breed shouldn't even be able to have an unaltered dog. That's why I love the HS around here. They are doing the EARLY spay/neuter. Early at 10 weeks. And I have actucally found breeders here that WILL NOT let their puppies go without beings spayed or neutered. Great, huh?? I think it's a wonderful idea. It keeps people like here from getting stupid ideas in their head to breed poor temperment dogs.

Man.....I miss all the good ones when I go out of town and you lose power, huh?? Hmm.....I know I don't like Labs or Goldens. But Jeremy LOVES labs....so one of these days, I know we'll have one. But he doesn't want a puppy so that's good! I'm not a terrier fan at all. Great dogs.....in someone else's house! Also, couldn't deal with a baying scent hound! Our neighbor has a Beagle/Min Pin mix.....one of these days I'm going to have a seizure because of the noise that dog makes!!! I love BIG giant dogs....and teeny tiny ones. It's the middle of the road ones that I'm indifferent about!!!
I completely agree that people should do their homework first. I just hate it when people buy Lhasa Apso's as a first time dog...they didn't do their research and did not realize these little dogs were originally bred to be guard dogs. They can be much more dominant than other little dogs; Shih Tzu's for example. So, if some one were looking for a small dog and was debating between the 2 I would certainly recommend a Shih Tzu over a Lhasa. You wouldn't believe the amount of problem Lhasa's we have in our area...and its not due to bad breeding...they are just living up to what they were originally bred to do...guard.
Amen! My parents have had Lhasas....and yes, they are wonderful dogs, IN THE RIGHT HOME!! Our groomers love it when Shasta comes in. We have been told by every groomer we ever use that she is the best Lhasa they have every touched. She literally falls alseep on the grooming table. Do you know how much it took to get her to be like that??? How many HOURS we spent in grooming shops with her?? Shasta goes every 6 weeks like clockwork to get groomed.....and is bathed frequently at home (about once every week to week and a half). Our old Lhasa was the exact same way..... Shasta will be 8 in March. She has major obedience training and is an all around good dog. Is she snippy? At times.....but never with me (I did all her training). She doesn't like children AT ALL. And she can be dog agressive until she gets to know the dogs. When my parents bring her down to see us, there is growling from her for the first few minutes.....then all is well. She plays with Hunter and Tater (never Dakota....no one likes him....we all feel so bad!!) and just LOVES the cats!! But the point is to watch her like a hawk. Set her up for sucess! Not failure....I will ALWAYS be a fan of the breed. I think they are great dogs. But they have also been in my life since I was 9 years old. So I guess I am biased! I'd love to have a Lhasa again.....but I'm not sure my husband will allow it! He's not a fan of Shasta (he tolerates her because he knows how special she is to me), but he doesn't understand her and how she works the way I do! Okay....I'll stop ranting about Lhasas now......I just love it when people come up to her and say, "Ohhhh...what a cute cuddly dog! I bet she's a real snuggler." Yeah, RIGHT!!! :D

Weeeee!! What fun!! Age first... Tater..... 7-8 years old and our newest. He is a rescued Chinese Crested (hairless) and just a doll. We are making his birthday his 'forever home day'. So we are saying that he turned 7 on November 13th. Sound good? Dakota.....Our 4 year old white GSD. He's just amazing and I can't WAIT to get into Rally with him! Starting up in January!!! Hunter....Our 3 year old black and tan GSD. He's our sensitive boy. He and I just finished our first session of obedience classes together and he had a BLAST! His personality has really changed and he is much more sure of himself now! Harley....our 2 year old c.a.t. She is a long hair manx mix. But she has the LONGEST tail I have ever seen! But I saw her mom and she was a pure bred Manx! So go figure.....I think dad was part monkey. Ace.....Our other 2 year old c.a.t. He is our rescue and we've had him for about a year. He is allergic TO DOG DANDER. So he gets allergy shots. He's doing better but still not all the way there yet. He's worth it to me! Lexi....Our 8 month old c.a.t. She is a short hair calico/tiger. Jeremy found her on his last trip back to the old house (when we moved). She was about 3 weeks old and COVERED in ticks. It was going down to 30 degrees that night so he brought her back with him. He looked for others but couldn't find anything. She was skin and bones....and now....just loves everything. Especially her brother Tater (as you can see in the Pictures section!!). Fred....our red eared slider. She's a really cool turtle! My parents brought her back from Florida (I know it's illegal) as a baby. She was no bigger than a quarter. Now.....she's MUCH bigger than the palm of Jeremy's hand! And that's big!!!! We've had her about 3 years now. And.....two goldfish that live with Fred!! -
Wildlife plates are specilaity plates were part of the fee for the plate goes to different wildlife organizations. So you pay a little extra for the plate. An example of Ohio's is this one: For some odd reason it doesn't want to show the whole plate. Not sure why!! You can go to www.oplates.com and click on "Speciality Plates" on the left. Then for "Vehicle Type" select "Passenger Car". It will give you a list of choices. Pick an animal one then select "View this plate"

Kinda along this topic.....we were at Petsmart the other day and a young couple was walking along with a pittie (looked to be around a year) and a hound mix puppy. I, of course, scampered on up and asked if I could say hello to their dogs. They smiled and got down on the ground with me. Well, I was covered in three seconds by pittie slobber and a paw to the face, but I loved every minute of it. Now, I know a 'bully' breed.....but I cannot tell a difference between some of them, so I asked if she was a Staffy. And it was so sad, because they just looked at each other and replied, "Well, we'll say that she is." I looked at them and smiled and said, "You are looking at a girl who thinks breed ban is BullS***!" They broke out in a huge smile and said, "Well, in that case, she's a pure bred Pit." I just think it's so sad that they didn't even want to tell me what she was. I looked at Jeremy after we left and he said to me, "Oh yeah.....how vicious!" We just rolled our eyes.

Our yard is fenced....so they are always off leash in the yard. We are also in a brand new development, so during the summer, they would be off leash with us all the time all over! We were all by ourselves for over a month so they had the run of the place. But if we go to the park.....stores....vet....they are always on a leash.

Who would put this on their dog?
ObedienceGrrl replied to True_Pits's topic in Everything about dogs
TP.....I think they thought the dog was yours because the picture is on the website that you have posted here. Just a thought......but I can't be sure! I try not to think too much.....especially around the holidays.....it gets me into trouble! -
Ya know....I have the HUGE GIANT black Kongs.....and I bet they would hurt like hell if I whipped them at someone's head. Oh....and Tater turned his nose up at the Puppy Kong today. I was bummed.

Well.....I'll put it in dialog, okay? Pet Psychic: Do you know when her birthday is? My Mom: No, when we got her from the humane society we just made her birthday the same day as mine! PP: Oh.....(pause.....smile). I see! That's not all the two of you share. Mom: What do you mean? PP: Well, your the third child. Mom and I just stare at her.....then each other. Because she IS the youngest of three. PP: Scooter was the third puppy born. Now how in the HELL would she know that??? We didn't talk about family at all..... She also talked about our house and the walks that she took every morning. The hamburgers that she gets (hold the pickle), and how she would be with us for a few more years. And she was.
edited to add: LOL Ogrrl.....I just got this visual of tater in a spiked collar<shudder>
It actucally looks kinda cute....but it kept getting stuck in his hair. Since he really doesn't have 'fur', ya know? It's so fine.....so he'll probably never wear it again.....I bought him a martingale nylon one....a red one....it looks nice on him. That's what his previous owner had him on.....I took it off once we got in the car and his foster mom was out of sight! -

It also could be the fact that Tater is hairless and weighs in at 12 pounds.... But....alas.... -

Tater came to us with a leather spiked Harley Davidson collar. It's 12 inches long. But for some odd reason.....he just doesn't look viscious in it.....not sure why. -
I've done it. We spent an hour and a half with her. SHE WAS WONDERFUL!!! It was such a great experience. She told us so many things about our Scooter. We really felt great when we left.

We have a California King..... There just isn't room anymore!!!

Tater sleeps in the bed....under the covers with his head on the pillow! He really wants to sleep between Jeremy and myself....but Jer says, "Ya know....I'd like to touch my wife at night....not a hairless dog!" So Tater gets to sleep on my left now. Hunter and Dakota sleep on the floor on their blankies. But when Jeremy goes out of town, they can come up in bed if they want to. The two older cats sleep on the bed, but the kitten sleeps with the GSDs on the floor.
