1.
So, its not okay for say a "bloodthirsty pit bull" to kill a rat which most people consider pests. But when their dog kills say, a squirrel or bunny its just "natural instinct?" The dogs could of course get dieseses, but people expect cats to kill rats and mice, can't they get dieseses too?
If you are directing this toward me in a hostile way, then you need to re-read my post. I understand what a terrier was bred for. I understand that BSL is bullshit. I understand that any bully breed is a wonderful dog. JOHN PUBLIC has no idea other than what the media has brain washed them with. It's the other people out there that think any pitbull is a vicious killer and will eat your children if you let them get too close. Remember, not everyone out there understands that dogs were bred for a purpose other than to be a family pet. That is why the world is overrun with breed rescues and shelters.
2. We all know what terriers were bred for. But not everyone in New York knows what terriers were bred for. So don't you think it will add to the 'killer pitbull' stereotype? I can just imagine seeing someone saying, "Oh, my sweet little Foo Foo would never kill any other animal. See how blood thirsty these dogs are?" Or am I not making any sense...... Just a thought.....
3. Ummmm..... :o
4. What a wonderful ending!
5. Those pics are really amazing! It's art!!
6. They actucally have a chinese crested!!!
7. I have similar problems with my boys. TDG (member on here) helped me out with the feeding 2 main meals, and a 'snack' too. I add plain yogurt to my food. Extra live cultures. And I also feed the EAgle Pack Holistic Lamb and Oatmeal. Since I started with the snack, I don't have to add any more cultures. But TDG said that if need be, I could also go to a health food store to actucally buy acidopholis (so sorry for butchering the word!!!) pills.
8. Maybe with a little terrier thrown in? Just looking at the muzzle and ear setting.....
9. I remember a case of Happy Tail when I worked at the shelter. We had this great Sheep dog type mix. Just all white and fluffy and HUGE! But he had a tail. Well, he had cracked it on his kennel so many times that it just kept opening up. We'd bandage him back up, treat.....he'd be fine for about a week, then it would start over again. Well, one day, we came into the kennels in the morning, and it looked like a masacare had happened. He was covered in blood and so was the kennel floor and everything else. This was at the old shelter where most of the kennels were outdoor, they were covered by a roof and tarps, but people could still walk around the kennels if they wanted to. We think someone did and this dog just got sooooo excited. He went in the next day to be docked!
10. I have never watched the show. But, without even watching it.....can you all understand what they are trying to accomplish in their own crazy way? GO OUT AND ADOPT! LOOK AT ALL THE FINE DOGS IN A HUMANE SOCIETY! Right? Do I think it's done in the correct way? No.....but I applaud them for trying to reach people who think the only way to get a dog is to go to their local mall and find a petstore. Having said that.....I don't think I will ever watch it, either. But, that's just me.
11. Sorry Mouse.....
12.
well, i'm sad to say i got him from a pet store as i did my english bulldog....I have to say I hate puppy stores and argue with them every time i walk through the door..but someone has to give these poor dogs a chance.. and at the high prices they sell for i do consider that i rescued him.... my other 2 dogs, an english mastiff and a pug are both rescues..where did you get your dogs if you have any?
That is the problem with people out there. "Ohhh....look at that sad little puppy. I'm going to 'save' him. Just one won't hurt." Do you know how many "just one's" are out there? These pet store people buy these dogs for dirt cheap and jack up the prices to make profits for them and the millers. So even lowering the prices to 'sale prices', they make a killing. Here is a price list for what Pet Stores pay for the dogs: http://www.kimtownsend.com/prices.html All people need to do is BACK OFF and let the dogs stay in the pet stores. It will show the millers that there is no one who wants that dog, and in order to get it out of the store, a breed rescue group will come in and take it. NO MONEY EXCHANGED. That is what a real breed rescuer does. They don't put money back into the pockets of millers.
13. So glad he's better!!
14. Voted today
15. Voted!
16. The big boys started about a week ago. It's not pretty in our house! Thank doG for the Cresteds!!!!
17.
The Fila was bred to attack people it feels are a threat to its owners. So if someone climbed a fence into its territory, it would bite. They were bred to catch runaway slaves in Brazil. They are actually one of my favorite breeds, because they are EXTREMELY loyal, but I would not recommend them to most owners. They are too much dog for most people.
And I bet they are wonderful dogs.....but ONLY in the right hands and the right home. With someone who has such an advanced knowledge of dogs and dog behavior.
18. She is also the handler that had Josh last year. What in the world was wrong with the Pyr's coat?
19. Isn't this the dog that just won't 'bark and hold' but attack to maim someone and cause harm?
20.
They require a lot of mental and physical stimulation, their work drive is pretty high and needs to be taken into account, they are really smart - hence able to get into some really good trouble, they can be quite dominant dogs and are not for first time or inexperienced owners.
We have two GSDs....if they don't have anything to do, they will destroy the house. And a dog that large will do a lot of damage if their mind is set on it! We have two holes in our brand new carpet because we are stupid and did not watch our younger (now when I say younger, I mean 4 YEARS OLD....not a puppy) GSD for an hour. He got bored. And when they get bored, they will make their own fun. And man....so will a Sibe!!! I saw some of the best pictures on a Rescue site for Sibes.....it was one sitting in total destruction. books shredded, walls chewed through, beds eaten to pieces..... A bunch of pics of all different dogs. And the caption below was something like, "Do you really want one now?"
21. I pointed out the sleeping mastiff to Jeremy. He was adorable!
22. TDG Aren't there cases where a c@t living in the household has died because of the dog being on Advantix?

Training

First off, he's an 8 week old puppy. You are bound to have accidents and plenty of them Second, if you haven't done so, take him to the vet to make sure that there isn't something medical going on, like a urinary tract infection or anything else. Now, when he goes potty in the house, does he do it right in front of you? Or does he go off and hide when you're not watching him? If he's hiding or out of your sight, CHANGE IT! Work with umbillical training. Tie the dog to you with a 6 - 10 foot leash. He will never be out of your sight then. If this is something you don't want to do, then you need to crate him when you cannot watch him EVERY MINUTE. Set him up to do right.....not to fail. Dogs learn much better by positive reinforcement. Praising for good things, not punishing for bad things. The more you punish a dog, the more he will hide from you and not want to do anything for you, he'll just shut down. The more you set him up to do something correct, the more he will go out of his way to please you.
24. I just LOVE little dogs with big names. Bear Goliath Kodiak
25. But they are such nice collars......
