1. Okay.....so how do you guys do it? How do you go from 2 to 3 Then 3 to 4 Then 4 to 5 And so on?? And.....how do you get everyone to agree (read, spouses)? What does your family say? Friends say? Do you get strange looks? Just wondering...... Oh....you want to know why? It's her.....http://www.petfinder.org/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=2615559&adTarget=468petsgeneral&SessionID=420a9182285d9a9b-app1&display=&preview=1&row=0&tmpl=&stat= I haven't even mentioned her to Jeremy yet. I don't even want him to know that I'm remotely considering getting another dog. I don't have the foggiest clue what his reaction would be.....but I know what my parents reaction would be!!!!
2. Just the naked dogs sleep on the bed. Under the covers of course! Come on....they have no hair!! They get cold!! We also have 2 out of the 3 cats on the bed too. The GSDs are just too much to add to that!
3. Here is Tater and Lexi Just Tater! 4. Oh doG, roo.....makes me want to throw up
5. I've got the Cresteds!
6. Alright thanks! I'm looking forward to getting my bottle. I ordered yesterday. I had $5.00 off and free shipping so I thought I'd give it a try! AAP, if you sign up for the 'free weekly give away' on the site, you should get the same deal that I did....the 5 bucks off and free shipping. So that puts it down to $25 a bottle.
7. Is it a bad flavor? Or could it be mixed in with food? The powdered vits that I give in the morning, I mix with a little canned food. Could I do the same? Or will he refuse the food because of the taste/smell?
8. After one full day of steroids, he's feeling much better! So it's like trying to hold water in your hands. He's EVERYWHERE! So if I sit still, so will he. I need to get one of those little carry things, like a baby sling, so he'll stop following me when I clean!
9. Very few people know what the hell Tater and Mister are..... Most people ask if Dakota is part wolf or mixed with yellow lab. Nope, shepherds do come in white! And they don't believe that Hunter is pure because he's got a lazy ear (that's what I call it.....!!). So what if his ear doesn't stand.....I happen to like it that way, thank you very much!
10. I know quite a few of you on here use this..... Would it be beneficial to Tater to use this now because of his slipped disk? He's on just a little Glucosamine, but I just don't think it's enough. I'd like to up it and I think this is the supplement to use. Any info would be great! By the way.....the vet really encourages me to use glucosamine with him now. She was very happy that I brought it up. Which kind of makes me happy that she just doesn't want me to use NSAIDs for the rest of his life, ya know?
11. Tater has a slipped disk! It was horrible. He just screamed bloody murder on Wednesday night. I couldn't get him into the vet until this morning. But that is the verdict. I knew it was either his back, luxating patellas, or Legg-Calve-Perthes disease (VERY common). I just couldn't tell where his pain was coming from and I didn't want to poke and prod him. So he's on steroids for 2 weeks and he is to do NOTHING for 6 weeks. I am to carry him everywhere. The vet said that the university would say cage rest, but she knows what a good mommy I am with my kids. And, she also knows that Tater came from a puppy mill and was kept in a rabbit cage. He screams when he sees a cage....so I know he'd hurt himself ever worse by trying to get out of the crate. So, he's going to be even more spoiled than he is now!
12. The dog appears to be a Brussels. As was the dog from "As Good As It Gets" The dog from "Something About Mary" was a Border Terrier.
13. He's wonderful! Let us know what happens when you call the number tomorrow! That's how I found a missing Lab's home! I was walking into work one morning and this chocolate lab ran up to me. Since I work right by a free way and a major intersection, I grabbed her up and called the number on the Rabies tag and got the owner's number. All was well, then!

15. I can tell the difference between a bark to say, "Hey, someone is walking past the house" and "HEY....someone is ON MY PROPERTY!" Hunter and Dakota sound different all the time. But once....Jeremy had to get something 70's for a meeting at work (do'nt ask!). So he got a Jimi Hendrix wig and sunglasses. He comes in the house with them on and MAN!!! I thought he was going to be eaten alive. Dakota threw his body against mine and I fell back into the kitchen and Hunter charged him first with Dakota behind him once he made sure I was on the floor. I have NEVER seen that before and I really wouldn't want to witness it again..... Jeremy couldn't get the wig off fast enough!!! :D
16. Hmmmm.....where to start... First about the dogs. They were mainly Maltese, Poodles, and Shih Tzu. There were two adult collies (female had 4 puppies, all of who had parvo, lost one) and three shelties. Out of the 158 dogs (I believe that was the total number, but it was about 7 years ago) 16 females were pregnant. Now, the older they were, the worse they were. We had them in cages together since they were so small. You'd walk into the cage and they would just all scatter in different directions and then regroup behind you. It took two people to get them out. Then, when you would pick them up, they'd scream blood murder. The very old ones would just freeze. Eye's wide open with the whites showing. Mouths open as well. The younger ones would bite. Especially the males. You'd stick your hand down to grab them, and they would snap at you. After they got used to the environment (months! The shelter was going to court for the rightful ownership of them so we could adopt them out....couldn't do that until we had ownership of them.....the A$$HOLE said he wanted them back) then, they started to come out a little bit more. They would come up to your hand, but again, scatter if you moved. And if you tried to pick them up, they no longer screamed, but still froze for a few minutes. The younger males would pace. The older dogs would just sit in a corner and watch you. The collies weren't bad. They, for some reason, were sweet dogs. The big male was beautiful once he was cleaned up! We had to shave him so he looked like a smooth coat! But still, very handsome. Then, there was this one poor sheltie. I'll always remember her. The look of utter fear in her eyes. One step into her kennel sent her running into the little shelter. She wouldn't touch her food if she saw a person standing there. We'd spend hours just sitting in her kennel or next to it. She never came out. When she did (when she thought no one was watching).....she just stood there and watched everything.....making sure no one came close to her. We got her into a foster home VERY quickly. So for a happy ending to all this? We only lost about 8 dogs (just too sick to adopt out). And EVERY single dog, including all the unborn puppies, got homes. We had a HUGE party when the last one left us. It was wonderful......
17. Voted....I'll keep going back!
18. I was part of a puppy mill raid of 150 plus dogs. And as you can imagine....none of the adults had ever had a human hand touch them in a positive way, if at all! It was when I worked at a Humane Society (no kill) up in the Cleveland area. What do you have a question about?
19. Thanks to everyone who wanted to become Pals with my kids!! I have lots of Dogo Pup Pal friends now!! And....quite a few Crestie ones as well!
20. We don't have leather, but the microseude. And I'll tell you what.....that stuff cleans up like nothing else! All you need to do is use water. But that couch has been peed on, bled on, spilled on, puked on....and it just wipes off with water. It doesn't scratch either....like some suede couches have those scratch marks in them......but not this one....it's nice!
21. Man.....I thought I'd try it out....and it's addicting! You can spend hours on there looking at dogs.... So here are my kid's pages! Dakota http://www.dogster.com/?112583 Hunter http://www.dogster.com/?112579 Tater http://www.dogster.com/?112575 Mister http://www.dogster.com/?112614
22. I have never used one on my own dogs....but I have been around people who have used them. Well, not just 'people' like your everyday people. These were K9 trainers. I used to train with them when I lived in the Cleveland area. And E-collars were used on these dogs in much of the training. I wish I could be of more help. But I have never used them myself. I have always done most of my training with treats/toys/praise/playtime/just general rewards so I really can't tell you how the E-collar works from start to finish.
23. But the spotted tounge is just extra pigment. Like a person with freckles. It's a SOLID black tounge that is a breed trait. Not spots. My GSDs have freckles as well.
24. If she is feeding I/D, that is for sensitive stomachs, right? Now....my boys never had worms.....so I don't know if this will help, but I"ll give it a try... They had diarrhea at least 6 or 7 times a month. Blow out kind....not just mushy poop. The kind that just comes out like water. And.....of course, like your friend, in the house. I was at my wits end. I tried changing food....but no better. So.....I started them on plain yogurt mixed in with their food every day. Four BIG spoonfuls at night and one big one in the morning. That was months ago.....since then....NOTHING!! No diarrhea. Nada.....it's been wonderful. Maybe he just needs some live cultures? I'm grasping at straws.....but it might be worth a shot. And yogurt is cheap! I pay $1.79 for the BIG container.
25. Hey AAP....I know you didn't ask for my opinion....but I have a big mouth so I'll give it to you anyway! Mutts is right....you could start off as a cashier or in small animal and let them know where your interest lies. There were transfers always going on when I worked there. Plus, we did have a lot of highschool students that did come in after school only and on weekends. They are pretty good with working with someone's schedule if they need to fill a position. Most of their day time people don't want to work on a weekend. So they are usually trying to fill those spots.....as long as you do'nt mind losing your weekend, then it's all good!
