1. The collar in what I have seen is used primarily as a deterrant and if used correctly it is an excellent training tool and a heck of a lot more effective not to mention humane, than a shock collar. If the situation is new to your dog, then give him time and patience as well as providing him with a stuffed kong or some other form of stimulation. He will also benefit from regular walks to let him explore the new territory, and to reassure him that he doesn't have any threats nearby.
2. sounds like a super idea. A lady I know of trained her deaf Border Collie and worked championship Obedience class C at Crufts so it just goes to show how effective sign and body language can be.
3. Its pathetic the way these dogs are exploited and sadly its now seen in the agility circles too, and we have had to have spot pee tests introduced for steroid exploitation.
4. DOGO FOREVER! WE WILL SURVIVE!
5. It may have been a small step but its significant. Yes many dogs involved in active fights will be euthanased but hey its a darn sight better than being in agony with infected wounds and left to die
6. Whoa Buck you scared us all there. Glad that he is fine Kendalyn :D
7. Good luck and hope that you have a nice time :fadein:
8. Any news yet on Buck? I've been thinking about him all day :-?
9. I'm relieved to read that you got Buck an appointment. Paws crossed and please let us know how he is. I'm worried for him now :-?
10. As Loki said your pup is still very much a baby. Have a good routine with her and keep her confined to the one place. Feed her at regular times every day (3/4 small meals daily), then as soon as she has eaten place her on papers in the room where she is kept. Use an associating word (I use hurry up) when she pees so she will get the link and will know when you say the command that she has to pee. My dog will pee on command when I tell her even if she doesn't have to pee, she will still squat and go through the motions  When your pup has peed on the paper praise her and tell her shes a good girl. When she gets the idea of peeing on the paper in the house, take the paper out to the garden and repeat the process of setting her on the paper and praise her when she has gone. Persevere with her and keep setting her on the paper throughout the day and don't let her leave the paper until she has wet. Gradually you will be able to take the paper away and she will be squatting on the grass providing that she has had all her vaccinations. Don't worry, she will get the idea! You just have to be patient with her and praise her up so she knows that she is a good girl. I hand rear pups from time to time and usually from the age of 3 weeks they will get the idea by association of routine and pee on the paper when they are set onto it. Good luck :fadein:
11. Glad to hear that your Babe is fine
12. Primrose wake up for heavens sake.
An energy burst in every bite
That says it all and does nothing to improve the breeds image.
13. Kendalyn he doesn't sound like a well puppy at all. Try to get him to the emergency vet and keep us updated on how he is.
14. Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK are very strict. The only shops that Meg comes into are the pet shops. We would get our asses kicked out in any other type of shop!
15. On that note it might be an idea for you to give her a quick lesson Star. I hate and boycott chokes totally but if she is using one, please make sure that she is using it right and that the chain is on the left side of the loop in the P position. People should go through a test before they get a dog
16. adding another good job! You should be very satisfied with what you done
17. Its a small but always significant step towards a huge task :-?
18. good puppy dogs! :D
19. The punishments are not nearly enough to justify what those wee animals went through.
20. I've no contact with Zoes breeder, but Megs breeder is often at shows and we would occasionally go up to the farm to see him and his dogs :D
21. Thanks for emailing the pics, totally made me smile. Yep That is indeed little Forrest wh is now big handsome Forrest. Elizabeths Goldies are just beautiful :D
22. erf poor wee Coal. I agree its never a nice thing to wake up to! Abby my cat was acting weird growling and jumping about the room one night a few months back and I had the door of my room closed. The lights were out for a second and I heard her boking, but it was my own fault for not listening. Hope Coal feels better and Neutradol is really good for horrid odours!
