1. Thanks all of you for your support. It really is lovely to read such supporting words . My parents are not happy with the situation either and know how much Meg means to me. Tonight after I came back from studying at uni, I went down to bring her to my own house to groom and play with. Sam was hanging a door and on my way past, apologised for what he said. I'm still not happy and as soon as I can catch Margaret on her own I am going to bite the bullet and get down on hands and knees. Living without wee Meg near me is just something I would find very very hard. :(
2. I don't even know where to begin. I'm sitting here sobbing in hysterics. As you know Meg has had an injury the past few weeks and hasn't been walked at all only in the back garden, and she has been having lazer treatment from the vet. Tonight I went down to see her as I do every day and asked Sam (the husband of Meg's other owner Margaret) what was the latest from the vet (she was there this morning). He said the vet was pleased with her and suggested a run-out. I went berserk especially when Sam mentioned about giving her a good run up at the agility field. Like seriously.. you do NOT run a dog after she hasn't even been WALKED for the past 4/5 weeks! She needs to build up muscle tone again by walking, not mad bloody gallops around a course. I reminded him that she was a pet first and foremost, and that its damn unfair putting her in pain for agility. The next words nearly mae me sick. He said that if she was in pain doing agility then he would put her down. The selfish bas****! He just doesn't see that she is a wee pet! I hate him..God I hate him so much for saying those words. I'm going down tomorrow to talk to Margaret (Meg's co-owner) and asking again about taking her to the Netherlands. I have to get her away with me.. she will be killed if I leave her here. I'm just so upset beyond words right now, and I feel physically sick.
3. If you treat the dogs, thats only half the battle. Fleas can lie dormant in bedding and in skirting boards and crevices for months, until the conditions are good enough again. Frontline is the best job in my opinion. With advantage I have seen too many allergic reactions especially where small animals are concerned. If you can get the hold of a tin called VetKem Acclaim then this is just the business for the house. a tip for you as well: Use methylated spirits on a cloth and go around all the skirting boards and door frames before you use the house spray and leave that room for a good 5/6 hours. Good luck!
4. Oh what can be said... I am so so very sorry to hear about Holly leaving the world so early.. sometimes life just isn't fair  *hugs to you*
5. *hugs* my heart goes out to you. I can tell that this is such a hard decision for you to make but if she has exhausted this life, and you have given her so much, then it sounds like it is time to let her go. You have done wonderful things for a poor little neglected dog
6. Congrast and looking forward to seeing some pics :D
7. Same to you all. Didn't see much of it though with having to work and finish my thesis!
8. When I let Meg meet Sander, I told him that she was the best judge of character and that our relationship would depend on her opinion :P He kinda panicked a bit lol! Anyway when Meg first met Sander she was uncharacteristically unsure about him and when we walked holding hands, and Meg was off-lead she would come in between the two of us and try to get into heelwork position to impress me hehe! She was a little jealous of someone being near her precious soul mate of a Mum and was vying for attention. We went for a hike up in the mountains so Sander and her could get to know each other better, and after an afternoon of throwing her ball, they were the best of friends and she decided that she liked him after all :D At Crufts this year, they got on fabulously actually, and apart from Meggie leaping on our bed in the guest house at the "wrong times" , things were great and Sander is really good with her. Just work on your relationship with your own dog and your boyfriend but make sure that your dog knows that it is you in control and not your boyfriend. Good luck! :D
9. BORDER COLLIE ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIEL SCHNAUZER (MINIATURE) WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIER Whoo hoo Border Collie was the top breed! :D :D :D
10. Hi Ping, if necessary put a lead on Mum and take her outside every few hours or how often you think is necessary. Its great that she is being a good mum but having a quick few minutes break from teh babies will benefit her too. Feed her a few (3) small meals a day and put the dish just outside the nest but not in it. Also make sure that she is wormed and that the puppies are wormed starting at 2 weeks of age. I know you have taken on a lot but please do ask for any help. You are an angel for doing this
11. Thats cool, I'm heading over to Groningen next week. Good luck with the dogs!
12. Happy Easter to all at Dogo :D Remember to keep the chocolate for yourselves and to keep it away from your pets!
13. When you have her checked out fully by a vet, a little retraining and firm actions may be an idea. I know it must be hard to ignore her, but perhaps you should try to cordon her off in one room so that she cannot see you or will not be near you at night. Another idea is to get a large cage (crate) and train her so she knows that is her wee den and with training she should become content with her own space. At the moment what you are doing is treating her still as a pup and GSD's can be quite immature but also rather manipulative. You need to totally ignore her. By letting her out, you are rewarding her for her bad behaviour and she is manipulating your input for her satisfactory response. She isn't a young pup now at her age and she can certainly hold her bladder through the night providing she isn't coming into season or doesn't have a Urinary trat infection. Good luck and let us know how you get on and welcome to the group
14. Thats great Ping and well done to you for giving Mum a chance
15. Hey Fabke what part of the Netherlands are you heading to?

Wolf Hybrid

Quite right indeed; I agree that they shouldn't be bred at all and the reasoning behind why I have reared and worked with a fair few wolves and wolfdogs is mostly because owners get in over their head and can't handle them once they get past the cute fluffy stage  Also people who spout crap about percentages greatly do annoy me. There is no way at all of telling exact percentages. A few of the lupines that I have reared and worked with: This is Lunar, a European timber pup that was born to a female timber in captivity from a planned mating, but unfortunately she wouldn't feed this wee pup, so he came home with me and did wonderfully well as you can see from the 2nd photo taken when he was just under a year old in his new home at a wolf sanctuary in England. This guy is Laska (the good looking fluffy one :P ) with a friend of mine Ross. Laska was taken over from a couple that got in over their head and realised just why it isn't smart to keep a wolfdog as a pet. This is Sky who has been my biggest and most contraversial challenge yet. He was tied to the back of a landrover by his owner and dragged until he had no skin left on his paws. Apparently this was a good way to exercise an animal...so says his former owner. Not surprisingly Sky wasn't a very trusting fellow after his ordeal, and it took a lot of begging and pleading to prevent him being put to sleep. We worked together and slowly little by little, Sky learned to trust some people again :) Ok so the next one isn't a wolf, so I cheated a little! This is Glenn whose Mum was killed by a motorbike when she was carrying Glenn across the road. Glenn was touch and go with concussion, but I don't give up on furbabes; they all need a chance and Glenn slowly started to rehabilitate until she was strong enough to start eating solid food and learn to be a fox again. She loved to yip yip howl for her feeds lol!

Wolf Hybrid

Yes I have fostered and reared a few European timbers and timber hybrids.
18. This just occurred to me after I posted last night. Could also be an ingrown hair follicle called a dermoid.
19. Sounds like Web is entering adolescence rebelliousness! If he doesn't come the first time when you call, ignore him and walk away but don't plead with him. He will soon learn that he will only get praised and treated if he comes straight away to you with no deviations.
20. aww that is such a nice story, that he introduced Re-run to the crew. Take some pics if you can and treat him to a lovely weekend so he will leave the earth as a very happy dog loved by all
21. Whoooo hooo well done Gladis! :D
22. aww poor wee lass, she sounds so sweet too :) If you can't get her to a vet, then you could try a little cooking oil in her ear and massage the oil very gently and using a tissue (not cotton bud) clean out any discharge that you see. The oil will also help to sooth the ear, and prevent her scratching it and making it worse. Good luck with her.
23. Indeed dogs do get little warts caused by a similar papilloma virus which causes humans to have warts. They can usually be treated by a vet by either cryosurgery or by surgical removal, and mostly turn out to be harmless.
24. Dobe x rott would be my guess
