:Dog_run: I want something no one else has and when we mess up we want everyone to think that it's the newest rage and everyone else must have one so they can be just as good as me. Did that make sense??? Paula and Re-Run

Young men charged in bow and arrow killing of dog
schippsmom replied to Horsefeathers!'s topic in Everything about dogs
:Dog_run: This is a shame. Scott is an avid hunter and he has personally witnessed people shooting at dogs with guns and bows. He stopped a few people who were on our property and going after dogs but why do people let their dogs run loose during hunting season on someone else's property?? I am not defending these boys in fact I signed the petition but if this dog was a stray why didn't anyone call the authorities and get involved and help this dog long before it got to this?? Again, I repeat, these boys need strung up by thier b*lls but where was everyone before this????? Oh, the witnesses are just as guilty. Paula & Re-Run -
:Dog_run: A vet actually said that?? Is he a real vet?? I always thought that you shouldn't breed before the third heat. I would think that at 6-7 months the puppy isn't even done growing yet. Wow!! I'm off to Discovery.com Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: I didn't realize Poodles were so discriminated against. I had a toy poodle when I was growing up, Schroder. I must have been very sheltered. You did remind me, HF, I recently saw a large man walking a Yorkie down main street in a small town. At first I thought how silly he looked with such a small dog and then I thought how lucky the dog was to have an owner love him so much that he didn't think anything about how he looked walking a small dog.

:Dog_run: I need help with a nail clipping problem. Re-Run has never really liked to have his nails clipped but we did it last night and he got so stressed he pooped :o. I felt horrible about it because we aren't sure when it happened, we saw it after it was over. So, anyone have advice on how to go about clipping next time?? I thought of taking him somewhere but he was getting progressively worse when we used to take him somewhere. I would have to put a muzzle on him and he would scream the whole time he was back there. I decided to do it myself. The first few times were fine, well, he fought a bit and showed his teeth but that was it. I have always played with his paws and he doesn't care if I touch them, he likes paw massages. I'm just at a loss as to how to make this less stressful for him. Thanks guys, I know you'll have great advice. Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: Ah yes, jumping. Bad enough the dog I'm babysitting does it every time he sees you but at the park with mud?? I would be pi$$ed and I would not have any problem letting the yuppies know it, in fact I have let people know how I feel before. In a non threatenin but firm voice just tell them that you don't appreciate their dog jumping on you and they must get it off. So far this has worked for me. Most parks have rules about controlling your dog anyway. Not everyone trains their dogs and think it's fine to let theirs jump all over everyone. Paula & Re-Run

Where can I buy some nice looking collars?
schippsmom replied to Atom's topic in Everything about dogs
:Dog_run: I like www.petedge.com They have a good selection at reasonable prices. Paula & Re-Run -
:Dog_run: Yes Jennie, he is barky, no one gets anywhere near the house without him letting us know about it. Let me correct that, nothing gets near the house, he has even alerted us to wind before. We are getting a little better control of the barking with food, sort of. It's hard to distract him once he's on to something. He does love to dig. He does it up at our cabin all weekend but here there is too much grass to dig through and Scott yells at him. So he gets his fill at camp. Maybe he is telling me it's time to go up there. Yesterday, no digging, today was a bad morning. Gotta get to work, Paula&Re-Run

:Dog_run: Jennie, I am definately pro crate, I just don't get to spend the time with him in the am that he should get. I'm feeling guilty about it I guess. I'm thinking I'll try taking him with me and the kids and if it's too much, I'll crate. Oh, he's a Schipperke, a small one-12.8#s. Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: that sucks!! I have a little dog and he tried to bite someone once but they scared the crap out of him and now he just barks and people think he will bite so they stay away. a few people venture close to him and he runs away. he is such a wimp  I do agree that little dogs bite more often but that doesn't mean they have little bites, they all hurt when they bit and lawsuits are lawsuits, so why do they discriminate? The policy should be simply, no dogs. We "camp" but we bought a cabin in the Allegheny National Forest and we own it so we do what we want. Wish I could give you some advice but all I can come up with is try to find another campground.

:Dog_run: After a quick google search, you are correct Bentleysmom. I knew someone would know it. I told the vet that possible next time I would consider getting it. He also wanted to wait awhile longer for more info on it. This does it for me Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: Scott and I were discussing options and taking him with us means a muddy car-inside. I don't mind a little dirt on the outside but I just got the car in November and I really don't want it trashed on the inside. Once spring comes and the ground dries out that is what we do. Scott also said that he leaves him out of his crate when he gets home and goes outside to do a few things without him and Re-Run doesn't touch the plants. I guess I'll have to carry him out. I really don't do mornings very well  Oh the peeking in the window won't work, it's a bay window and he would be able to see me. I hate to put him in the crate again, he's in there all night and when we're at work....maybe I will try that, until the ground dries. Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: I just heard a tease for the 11:00 news with a vet saying that ProHeart 6 has killed many dogs instead of helping them. My happy a$$ will be asleep at that hour so does anyone know what it is for?? Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: I need help!! For the past two weeks Re-Run has been having issues with me taking the kids to the bus. I am gone less then 10 minutes and in that time he digs up the potted plants I have in the living room. I hate to put him in the crate for 10 minutes and we do rush around in the am. I know waking up earlier so I have time to crate him is an option but for 10 minutes?? He should be able to be left out for 10 minutes without getting in trouble. I did spray the spanish moss on top of the dirt with bitter apple and that worked for one day. I also left the bottle of bitter apple next to the plant and that worked for a day but today I forgot and had a huge mess to clean up whan I got back. How can I keep him out of the plants???????? Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: Should I? or shouldn't I?? Oh look, it's past my bed time,I guess I won't! good night everyone BTW Re-Run will be in his bed, I will be in mine. :P Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: Re-Run came from a puppy store but only after talking with three different shelters and waiting for two months. I needed a small dog and all the shelters had large dogs. I even had one shelter make a few calls to other shelters and told them call me if anything comes in. I didn't care qwhat kind of dog it was. Well on our way home from one of the shelters we stopped at a pet store and there was Re-Run. I'll never forget the first time he looked at me, it truely was love at first sight. He does have issues, fortunately behavior which we have been working on, but no health issues. I'm told by other Schipperke owners that he is a typical Schipperke and they do bark alot, that's part of their job and they are very protective. Especially his favorite toy, my car. My last dog was a shelter dog and my next dog will probably be a shelter dog but I am still on the list for a small dog and so far (16 months later), no small dogs available. The store where we got Re-Run is now CLOSED :D I also thought it was neat, we have a store in the area that only sells mixed breeds, they refuse any purebred dogs. And you can only donate one litter of puppies ever. Paula & Re-Run

PETA's filed a complaint against Westminster KC
schippsmom replied to gooeydog's topic in Everything about dogs
:Dog_run: I didn't look at what PETA had on there, I don't want them to think that people are interested in their web site. I don't really care for docking an animal, Re-Run was docked and I wish he wasn't, he would of had a beautiful tail. Anyway, my brother lives in the D.C. area and every year they have a festival in the harbor that includes selling seafood. PETA was there and decided to buy all the lobster, they were live lobster. So after they spent tons of money, which had been donated, they decided to put the lobsters back in the ocean. That was nice. A few days later dead lobsters started to wash up on shore near where they released the lobsters. Those morons forgot to take the rubber bands off their claws before they released them. I can't imagine what those poor lobsters went through before they finally died. But, that's PETA for you. Paula & Re-Run
