:Dog_run: I just read a post that said grapes are bad for dogs. I've heard of that but it wasn't from someone who's opinion I would trust. Now twice tonight I saw it in different posts. Can anyone tell me why or where I can get information on the subject ? Thanks! Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: I hate to say it but nothing really surprises me anymore about stupid behavior. I feel sorry for the dog, she has to spend the rest of her life with this moron. Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: I also used to own Eskimos. What a bundle of energy they were. It is funny though, it seems that somewhere between two and 2 1/2 years they tend to mellow out some. A good friend of mine just experienced that, she thought I was kidding when I first told her. But he really mellowed out. They do need to have lots of exercise every day to wear them out. I actually got back in shape when I had them. Now I let my dog run because I know he will come back. Yes, they are also very smart dogs and they will test everyone in the house. My Schipperke does that now, he knows we won't tolerate it but he has to see what he can get away with, just like my 14 year old. I never give in to him and ALWAYS make him do what I asked, even if I'm tired and just want to go to bed. Basically tough love, just like my 14 year old. Please don't just give the dog away, that is so wrong. Be consistant and firm and in time Maya will calm down.

:Dog_run: Re-Run did this when he was younger, we called it lick, lick, nip. Boy did those teeth hurt. We would immediately stop whatever we were doing with him and ignore him. If we had to put him in another room we did. We used a baby gate so he could still see us but we would ignore him totally. Not sure if he outgrew the lick, lick, nip or he didn't like being ignored but he no longer does it. Hope this helps. Paula & Re-Run Almost forgot, the ice worked wonders when he was teething.

:Dog_run: We have always named our dogs after Peanuts characters. The last dog we had was named Linus so the kids decided if we got a girl dog this time it would be Lucy and if it was a boy we would name it Re-Run. Not many people know that Lucy and Linus had a little brother named Re-Run. Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: Poor Sasha!! Let her know she's not the only one not too crazy about cats. I'm very allergic to them. Sometimes I get reactions from people who own cats coming over to my house and just touching me. I would love to pet and cuddle cats but I just can't do it so let Sasha know she has my sympathy. :Dog_run: I was just curious about what the favorite dogs gifts are this year. I love Christmas and now that we have a major snowfall here I am really in the gift giving mood. Re-Run will get the usual toys, tennis balls, bully sticks, stuffed animals and his favorite toy, those scurrying mice things that you pull the string and the mouse goes across the floor. OK, so its a cat toy but he loves to pull the string and watch it go. Any one else want to share what they are getting their pets? After all they truly deserve their gifts. Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: Poor little guy had something wrong with his stomach but this morning he is back to his old self. Basically he is driving me crazy!! :D I was hoping to sleep in on my day off but he was very hungry this morning and had other plans for me. :grins: Thank you all for your help Happy Thanksgiving, Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: Dogwhiches are store bought soft treats. They never bothered him before and he didn't have any raw meat or raw bones today. I asked my husband if Re-Run may have gotten into anything outside and he said no. He is on a leash or we are there with him outside so we would know. Thanks for bringing that up, I didn't think of that. We all had the same meat and we are fine. He so tiny (13 pounds) and I worry way too much about him. Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: My poor baby is not feeling well tonight, he vomited twice. He is just over one year old and has not been sick befor this, at least not that I know of. He ate about half his dinner which sometimes is normal and only had two dogwhiches before that. Dad gave him a few pieces of cooked venison, he has that all the time. He does eat raw meat so his stomach is pretty tough. But he is sitting on the couch, and just resting which he doesn't do too often. Anyway, this is a first for me and I'm just wondering if I sould look for other things or if he just doesn't feel good. Thanks, Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: I had to share the good news!!! Our local Petland has gone under!!! This place has been selling puppy mill dogs in my area for years. I drove by a few days ago and the place was empty!! I asked the people where I buy my dogs food from if they heard anything about it and they said their sales were lacking and they just closed the doors. I had been in there a few months ago and saw they had "mixed breeds from local breeders" and asked the manager if this was a new sales tactic because alot of people are upset about all the puppies from the mills. He just asked me to leave. Anyway, I always love to see places like that fail. Paula & Re-Run

:Dog_run: USE A STRAW!! Even pouring from the can/bottle could contaminate the drink! I used to know a couple of guys that worked in a Pepsi warehouse and you would never imagine the things they did to the bottles and cans. I ONLY use a straw.

:Dog_run: Does anyone clicker train? If so, Where do I start? :confused1:
-
:Dog_run: OK, who out there clicker trains? Would you be willing to help someone else learn? I've been told by several trainers it's the way to go but I'm having problems finding a GOOD book on where to begin. Any one have any info/advice to give someone new to clicking?

Thoughts and Prayers Needed
schippsmom replied to mouseatthebusstop's topic in Everything about dogs
How sad, lets hope it's not leukemia. She'll be in our thoughts and prayers :( Paula & Re-Run -
Wow, if he's lethargic still I would definately get him to the vet. You didn't say if the blood was in the urine, if it is he's probably bruised (or worse) a kidney. I worry alot too so I would take him to a vet immediately. Keep us posted on how everything turns out. :(

He's always pawed at his water dish so we got a small pool and put only a few inches of water in it and yes we did get in and we had to pick him up and put him in. The water only covered his paws and once he started pawing, there was no getting him out. Bath time is now a wonderful experience also, he thinks it's an indoor pool. The kids have put his favorite toy in the middle of the pool and he has to get in to get it, that may also help.

Pools work wonders for wearing out puppies. We went through this experience for the first time earlier in the month. We try to get Re-Run in the pool in the evening so he tired at bed time. Works great :Dog_run:
