1.
i'm against making vaccination laws stricter in general, because i want to have control over what goes into my dog's body and i would not appreciate being forced to do something that can harm my dog in the long run. if the law was limited to establishing immunity in puppies, fine, but people need to be aware that indiscriminate yearly vaccinating isn't a good thing at all. for a good reference on vaccinations, have a look at this site: http://www.critteradvocacy.org
You could still have control over what went into your dogs body by having titers done, this would tell you if the dog needed anymore vaccination. I'm not an expert by any means, but I'd rather be safe than sorry........
2. Thanks for that.....loved reading the stories !!! Always nice to see happy endings !!
3. Goo looked like :o , stop the world and let me off !!!! And Haley was looking like...."Don't EVEN try and make me get up there !!!!!"
4. Annie looked like she was really enjoying the treadmill !!!! :D
5. I do think there should be stricter laws on vaccinations....... I've heard of so many dopes getting puppies and not getting them vaccinated and then the poor pups go through agonizing deaths from Parvo/Distemper.......it really burns my ass. They don't realize NO dog is FREE !!!!! :x Just recently my daughter brought to my attention the fact a JRT breeder (I use this term loosely) sold a papered Parson Jack puppy for $300 to a 15yr. old girl and was willing to take payments from her.........DUH  !!! Well of course the novelty of the pup wore off and they were trying to get rid of the pup by trying to sell it......Well they wanted to know if I wanted to buy it....and I said no. I said if you have no other options I'll take it and find a good home for her....but of course all these people wanted was some cash back...... So as it turns out these people never gave this pup any vaccinations since they took it from the breeder !!!!!!! :o I told my daughter they were lucky this pup wasn't dead yet. Then their $300 would be 3ft. under. :( So in the end they got the breeder to take the pup back at almost 6 months of age and he gave them $50 for their trouble........ Doesn't stuff like that burn your ass ?????
6. He's a beautiful dog JM........are you sure you can't have another ????? :D It looks like a sign from heaven to me .......... Did they say why he was returned ? :(
7. That was pretty funny Jetta......... When H.F was describing it, by size and color..... I thought she was talking about a hamster till I scrolled down and saw it was a new monitor !!!!!! Congrats H.F !!!! Now rush right over to the picture forum and see everything you've been missing !!!!!
8. I think it depends on the individual dog, by like most said.....dogs are pack animals. I had Sassafrass my JRT for 4 months (she was 6mos. old) when we got Gretchen (Lab/Rott) at 8weeks old...... Sassy did fine with Gretchen and 3 months after that we added a wee kitten to the mix. They were all fine with each other.... as a matter of fact little Sassy took over mothering the kitten even at her young age. And finally 2 months after Kato Kat arrived we added another JRT puppy to the mix !!! And everyone gets along famously !!! And all the dogs are female, the kat is the only male. All are spayed/neutered.
9. Great news !!!!!
10. I voted again !!! He's only 4% behind the GR now !!! C'mon everybody keep voting !!!!!
11. Travis got my vote !! (although I did find that little Lab/chow puppy very cute.......)
12. I guess at 44 I can still dream...... :thinkerg: My dream is to win the lottery, move to the country with loads of acres and have a Jack Russell Rescue, and/or a Doggie Day care.
13.
a friend I work with is buying a Dachshund in two weeks when the puppy is 5 weeks- the breeder told her the mother has rejected the litter , I feel they should still be kept untill 8 weeks by the breeder - kept together in a puppy play pen without the bitch
The person I got Gretchen from at 8wk. had to seperate the litter from the Mom (Rottweiler). There were 11 big burly pups, and she was growing tired of them....... Gretchen has a war wound to prove it, she was attacked by the mother and has a good sized scar on her upper back/neck area. :o I'll always be able to tell my dog from another just because of that tell-tale scar. I do think it important though that pups remain with their litter mates till 8wk. and maybe longer, they learn important lessons from their litter mates.
14. Hmmmm....I really had to think about this, cause I hear them everyday but I don't really take note. Gretchen is big and has a big dog bark/growl, she's very vocal when she's playing with you and when you talk to her and ask her questions. She sounds like Chewbacca from Star Wars !!!!!(Hubby Kris often calls her Chewy ! ) She's also very snorkly, almost sounds horse like. She rarely barks at anything going by the windows or when people come, she's more of an observer, not an alarmist like my Jacks. The Jacks (Sassy/Maisy) have different barks, Sassy has a high pitched shrill bark (especially when there's squirrels in the yard) and she barks at all service vehicles (garbage, mail, UPS, FED Ex...etc...) They really seem to agitate her. I've noticed that only when the engine is reving up, like when they pull up and pull away. When they are sitting, just ideling she doesn't bark at them. Maisy doesn't bark as much, she's not as upset by things like Sassy, but when she does bark she has more of a Roo-Roo sound and will stop when asked. It seems Sassy always has to have the last bark !!! LOL
15. Lino (pronounced lean-o)
16. I've always tipped 20% to my hair dresser, waitresses/waiters (who give good service, less if they don't), and my groomer. I don't tip bag boys at the super market because I carry out my own groceries. I pull up to self serve at the gas station and pump my own gas as well. I think when you tip people you see on a regular basis, they remember and do a good job for you and they appreciate your business.
17. Paws are Pressed here for Beaux !!! Hope he's feeling well soon !!!!
18. Happy Birthday Bongo :bday: !!!!!!!! ENJOY !!!!! :smilecolros:
19. I've lied about my Gretchen.....she's a Lab/Rott and I just say she's a Lab mix. Because I don't want the eyeballs or the people asking if she's mean....blah,blah,blah...... I really don't like dealing with stupid people, so I just keep it simple.
20.
I never give Jackie and Maya any of my food. They eat good quality dry food and good quality treats.
Maybe she's just got some digestive problems....... I wonder if dogs can take Beano ???
21. Still in 2nd, and he's got a Maltese right on his tail ready to take 2nd place away !!!! :x KEEP VOTING !!!!!
22. Jake 19%, the dachshund 28%...... Keep VOTING !!!!!
23. :o My last dog Nakita had gas so bad all the time that my hubby used to say she was dying from the inside out........ Back then I didn't know about good dog food and not to give her the spicy, saucy things we ate at dinner....... The 3 grrls I have now, rarely have any gas at all...and they only get their quality dog food and quality treats (all natural) I think TDG may have something there.......
24.
Spaying and neutering are such simple procedures that I really don't think you need to spend the extra money on the laser stuff. Those prices sound ridiculous though. If you can be OK with the conventional surgery, I think you'll be able to find lower prices elsewhere.
I agree with Kendalyn....... I think you're getting rooked. I had a Large animal Vet do my 2 Jacks and he only charged me $65. They went in the morning and I picked them up and brought them home by dinner !!
25. JMO but I hate leather furniture, cold and slippery in the winter and sticky in the summer (I guess unless you have AC or CA). I assume it would be easier to clean than upholstered furniture, but for the comfort factor for myself I don't like it.
