1.
Those ears scream terrier
 That's what I was thinking too.......
2. Not every breeder line breeds and in breeds..... I'm sure you can't speak for everyone..... Appreciate your view though.
3.

I doubt sincerely these people have been breeding these dogs like the ones in the ads for generations....these are OOPSIE breedings and they're making them sound good for big $$$$.
I think that to improve the quality of purebreds breeder should be out breeding like these. Inbreeding dogs is just wrong, and thats how purebreds were created.
And #2 how do you know these mutts are healthier than pure bred dogs ?? You know nothing about the dogs in these ads that were bred.
I never said these dogs were healtier debbie. But, the chances of them being healthier is far greater than a purebred dog. Remember purebred breeding is what created all the genetic diseases in the first place. Inbreeding in my book is just bad genetics...very very bad. That's why my Lab/Rott goes to the Vet more than my pure bred Jacks....... That's why she's plagued with allergies and ear infections. That's why I spend the big money on Prescription food for her and monthly grooming to make sure her ears are throughly clean......
4. :-? Matty... In theory what your saying may be right, but #1, I doubt sincerely these people have been breeding these dogs like the ones in the ads for generations....these are OOPSIE breedings and they're making them sound good for big $$$$. And #2 how do you know these mutts are healthier than pure bred dogs ?? You know nothing about the dogs in these ads that were bred. They could be the unhealthiest dogs in town......who knows ??? :-? Ummmm the Toy Poodle/Pit Bull breeding sounds ouchy if the female is the Poodle.....  But I do like the name you've got for the new breed !!! PIDDLES !!! LOVE IT !!!!!
5. He sounds beautiful !!! Can't wait for the pics !!!!
6. You hit it on the head Crystal  !!! Back when, these dogs would be called a Mutt, but in this day and age of designer dogs they're all of a sudden new breeds raking in big prices..... I just don't know how they think they're going to get the prices they're asking :-? ......we don't live in a big city......and these type of ads are not the norm here. That's why it floored me when I saw these all in one days ads. :o Anyone taking a guess on the Shalapa-Poos ???? I'm going to guess, Shih Tzu, Lhasa, and Poodle....... Maybe I'll give these people a call to inquire exactly what they are.
7. In our paper this morning there were a few pups for sale.... You just can't believe the mixes and the prices...... :o LABERNESE (Lab/ Bernese Mt. Dog) $400 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LABERNARDS (Lab/St. Bernard) $250 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROTTNARDS (Rott/St.Bernard) $450/$550 SHALAPA-POO's (?????) $325  :-? :(
8. :o That person is just asking for crank calls........ :evilbat:
9. Maybe that should be part of an animal abusers penalty. They have to sit and watch those shows everyday for an hour, supervised of course so they know he/she is doing it.
10. :o Wow, that guy sounds like a real ass...... :-? So sorry you have to deal with him..... :(
11. :o :-? What was that old saying ??? "IT'S NOT NICE TO FOOL MOTHER NATURE !!!!!" How the heck is that guy getting such small Dal's ??? Weird..........
12. :( Poor boy...... Pressing Paws for you and Bongo.....
13.
Not killing you Debbie!!! :P Just had to comment! As usual I just couldn't keep my mouth shut!  I think a GSD may possibly be a good choice. It is a great idea to make sure you get the kids involved in the training of a GSD. Well, it's actually a good idea for any breed, but especially with a larger dog, you need to make sur ethe dog respects everyone in the family! GSD's are great dogs and definitely need stimulation. I knew someone who decided to run into the store really quickly while her GSD stayed in the car. She was in the store for about 6-8 mintues and when she came out, the dog had ripped the dash off of the car!!!! He was not a happy dog!!! And she was not a happy owner. :o
I know D.O !!!!  The person in the article says for 1st time owners (young families) to avoid the working breeds for just that reason..... Plus, with an older rescue you can't be sure of the reliability with kids. I guess just different takes on the subject.....people are going to do what they want anyway.... :D
14. :o Well I live in New York state, (not NYC) and I've not heard a word about that...... I should think it would be a health hazard for the dogs to be killing these rats. NYC is very dirty and the rats I should think are full of disease and infections. :x I would be very concerned about the dogs, no matter what breed they are. I don't think it's a matter of people not knowing what Terriers are bred for either....I think most people think of the smaller Terriers as being ratters. And most probably I don't think most people in NYC give a rats arse who/what kills the rats as long as they're exterminated !!!
15. It's hard for me to tell at this stage of the game......looks like could have some RR in there but I'm not sure. Where did you get him and what did they tell you ?
16. Don't kill the messenger.....I said this was an article from Dog Fancy magazine....... I personally don't know a lot about some of the dogs on the list and wouldn't pick them myself but that's the consensus from the magazine... The author of the article was Joan Hustace Walker. She got her info from a variety of sources....A director for an Academy for Dog Trainers at the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and a canine behavior consultant Myrna Milani DVM, Charlestown, N.H. I'm not advocating this advice one way or the other......... Just wrote what was there. P.S the DVM said young families with first dog should avoid the working breeds........ Edited to add....I have 2 Jacks and a Lab/Rott and run a Daycare in my home so I'm going against the supposed recommendations as well.... I think it depends on the particular dog and what they'll put up with and what they're used to..... my dogs were raised with little ones around and love them.
17. JD, adopting is great !! Just make sure the dog is kid friendly since you have a few !!

19. Carol is right...... Some people think just because the JRT's (smooth coat) have short hair they don't shed or at least not very much. That's a total misconception, I have little white hairs all over the place !!! Dogs have hair and that's all there is to it.........
20. :o WOW !!! That was so cool........ Things have a way of working out !!! :D I just love happy endings !!!!
21. Those are great !!! I should get two....one for my mail and one for my newspaper..... Then I can get the JRT and the Black Lab !!!!
22. Jacks tails are docked. I have a Jack with a docked tail and one with a natural tail. Just depends on the breeder. Your pups tail actually looks pretty short right now.....guess you'll have to see how it turns out once he gets a little older...... Post some more pics !!!
23. :o Has the definition of *Mutt* changed recently ??? I thought Mutt was a dog that had more than one breed or more in it...... According to them THEIR dogs are not mutts, mutts are when 2 dogs *ACCIDENTALLY* breed and you don't know what you're going to get...... :o :x :WTF:
24.
I've seen a lot of Rottie mixes with docked tails because the "breeder" was trying to pass the pups off as purebred. We had a Rott/GSD when I was a youngster. She was sold to my dad as a pure Rott, she'd had her tail docked.
There must be a lot of that going around......... The woman I got Gretchen from was trying to pass all her pups off as full blooded Rotts too......she said if you want the tail short you can have it done when she's spayed...... I was thinking...."Are you CRazy ???" :o Well of course Gretchen is a Lab/Rott confirmed by my Vet soon after I took her home......... Wicked Lady !!!!! :evilbat: But, I'm glad Gretchie is who she is, and I love her very natural *Happy tail* !!! :D
25.
I don't know. JRT x Shih Tzu?
MM took the words right out of my mouth !!! That's what I was going to say !!!
