1. Indy never gets fed from the table or from our dinner plates. He knows as soon as I have finished and stand up that it's his turn. Though when we take him visiting with us my B/F's grandparents always sneak him food. He now knows that grandparents are a soft touch and he sticks to them like glue  However if I have a snack I generally save the last bite for him - though he does have to do something for it, i.e. sit, drop or shake hands etc.. I also give Indy yogurt - no flavour just the natural stuff with no additives.
2. FANTASTIC !!! :roflt:
3. I'm glad things have worked out for you. :)
4. K - have you been reading the Vampire novels by Anne Rice. After reading those I always have an inkling to be a vampire mostly because they live through time and get to see everything. I think I would prefer to have a time machine rather than live forever though.
5. Does no one know any good brands we can get here? I know everyone is going to jump down my throat but at the moment I am feeding Eukanumba but I want to stop and switch to something better. I know, I know IAMS is VERY bad :( I've found a shop that sells Innova and California Natural. However it is over $150.00 for a 15kg bag. It's going to really stretch my budget but I guess I don't have much of a choice. The other downside is that there is only one pet store chain that sells it and I am loathe to give this shop my business as they are your typical shopping mall pet chain that sells puppies grrrrrr....... again not much choice though.
6. So true Courtnek!! We all understand that - what's wrong with the rest of the world. Surely it's not that hard to get :-?
7. Just adorable. I love the one where the ball is twice the size of him. :D
8. ohhhh Just adorable
9. Damn, I got the red X. I want to see, I want to see :multi:
10. It's not that Hazel is seeing someone else (another human, other than you) as alpha) she is considering herself alpha and this may link into some of her aggression problems. She sees it as her job to warn off strangers and protect you when she needs to learn it is the other way round. You need to be firm but fair - no need to hurt her or scruff her but you do need to be firm. A "sin bin" or "time out" area is a good idea. When she misbehaves she goes straight to the sin bin (you can't ask her to go there of her own accord, you need to take her) and don't let her out no matter how much she carries on. Wait 10-15 minutes (or till she is calm) and then let her out but don't fuss over her, ignore her for another 10 minutes. Again this is showing her that you are in total control and that you control her environment not her. I had biting/nipping issues with Indy when he was about 3/4 months old. He was only playing and wanting attention but as he was so big it really hurt, I had bruises and scratches on my arms and holes in the legs of all my pants. The time out really worked because it is punishing them in a non-physical way - you are depriving them of what they really want - your attention. A kennel/run really is a very good idea. Maybe tell your parents that's what you want for your birthday so they will take you seriously. Try not to get too disheartened. There is no magical answer and there is not any one thing to do that will fix all the issues, it is a combination of everything everyone has suggested and it will take time. Again we are all here for you and of course Hazel.
11. That really worked out great.
12. Hazel I really feel for you and hope things work out for you. In regards to the other problems in your life, talk to your parents explain how important getting Hazel sorted out is and see if they can take some of the load from you in other areas. I think Courtnek is right, this seems to be an Alpha issue. From what I can gather from all you past posts on Dogo, Hazel is a smart dog and you seem to be very good at teaching her new tricks. But she is basically deciding what is fun to do (doing tricks with you) and telling you to get stuffed about all the more serious stuff. I think you may need to go back to basics and concentrate on alpha training and forget the tricks for a while. From your pictures from the lake you look like you guys were having a blast but unfortunately I don't think Hazel is well behaved enough for off leash fun. It will re-enforce that you are always in control if she is kept on a leash at all times (when out of the house). Also maybe talk to your parents about building a kennel/run for her. That way she can go in there when you are at school or can't be with her. Also put her in there when people come over. Having people scared to come to your house is not good and Hazel needs to learn that ALL humans are alpha, if she misbehaves when people come over - straight into the kennel. Hang in there matey and just work on showing Hazel who is boss. She needs some firm treatment and needs to understand what you say goes 100% of the time, not just when it suits her.

14. Sorry this one didn't work out, but if you take your time the right addition will come along.
15. Behle, Glad you have found a vet that you are so happy with. It really makes a big difference. I have to say that I am quite happy with the vet we have chosen. A few months ago Indy was starting to develop a hot spot, so booked him in at the vets and made it their last appointment for the night (6.45) so I had time to get home from work. Indy was very good while she shaved the area but when it came to cleaning, it was causing him a fair bit of pain so she decided she wanted to sedate him. To cut a long story short we were there till about 9.30/10.00 on a Friday night and they were great. The bill was also only $125.00 she didn't charge me any consulting time - only for the sedation and the medication she gave us. I was very impressed.

19. Oh Courtnek I am so sorry
20. Pumkin, had a look at the sled dog central site and it is really cool. I am keen to get a scotter and get into that with Indy. The mentor program looks great, I wish we had something like that out here in Australia as I really dont know anyone into sledding activities
21. Can any of those living in Australia share what brand of food they use. A lot of the better ones that I've seen people suggest only seem to be available in the US.
22. grrrrrrrrrrrr     If I got hold of that woman I would wipe that smirk right off her face.
23. Hey Hobbit, everything you have said makes perfect sense. I did however just notice on the link you posted for Shady Lady to look at under the heading of Herding Dog Breeds, both the Australian Shepherd and the Minature Australian Shepherd are listed :o
24. Sending lots of possitive thoughts your way. Give Alex a big :calus: from Indy and I.
25. No wonder you are so excited sounds like lots of fun. :D
