1. grrrrrrrrr  If she doesn't have time to get the dog spayed, how in the hell is she going to have time to give the puppies adequate care.
2. Unfortunately I don't have any advice, but just wanted to say that my thoughts are with you and especially Daisy. I hope you find a solution.
3. I wish we got Animal Planet here, it sounds great.
4. I also forgot to mention that peaunut butter works wonders. Smear it on something so he can lick it while you are touching playing with his feett. That way he gets distracted and doesn't pay that much attention to what you are doing with his feet.
5. Does he hate having his paws touched in general or is it only when the clippers come out? I would start by handling his paws a lot, then move on to touching and playing with his nails with your fingers. Once he is used to this bring the clippers out but don't actually use them yet. Just get him used to having his paws and nails touched with the clippers without actually using them. Once he is used to that then try clipping one nail then in a few days try another and so on. He sounds like he is pretty freaked out by the whole thing so will probably be a long process. It may take up to 6 months just take it very slowly and get him used to a little bit at a time. Good luck
6. Vacuuming is always a very noisy expericne at our place, Indy jumps around woo woo''s and just generally carries on.
7. We don't have any specific plans for any type of disaster however in the event of such an event I will do what ever is necessary to protect my dog. Just before Christmas we had busfires in our area so I stayed home from work for two days just in case they evacuated our street and we couldn't get back to get Indy.
8. Lots of hugs and licks to freebee :P (the licks are from Indy - not me)
9. Thanks for the giggle :P
10. Hope it turns out to be nothing. Let us know how you go at the vet. You sound like a fantastic dog owner - don't beat yourself up.
11. I too have read that before. Although still upsetting this time I was at least prepared. The first time I read it I was at work (like daisy said - huge mistake), I had to go to the bathroom for 5 minutes till I stopped crying.
12. OMG - How scary!!! I am so glad she is going to be ok and am wishing her a speedy recovery.
13. I know I worry about every little thing too. When we first bought Indy home we thought we had got a baby camel instead of a puppy :o however as he has gotten older he doesn't seem to drink as much in one go.
14. Malamum

I have puppies due

Good news. Congratulations :BIG:
15. I agree. If she couldn't be specific then she didn't really know what she was talking about. It wouldn't be a bad idea to ask the vet though. Also next time you go get a different tech to come and pat and play with him. My boy doesn't have a problem with going to the vet and I think the fact that the tech's all fuss over him and give him treats while we are waiting might help LOL
16. Sigh... some people just don't get it do they :x I too have had a stranger come up to me and ask about breeding with my boy - he was only about 6 months old!!!! I have also had relatives or friends etc assume that becuase I paid a lot of money for a papered dog that I am automatically going to breed, with the comment "you can make a lot of money you know" :o Rather than get angry or too frustrated (although inside I am fuming) I try to use the opportunity to expain why not to breed and to educate them a little better.
17. Contratulations Nancy. :banan: That is just awesome. You must be so proud of your babies.
18. I don't think we are missing the point. We are not saying that we are pro Iditarod because we don't like or agree with PETA. Not agreeing with PETA seems to just be a side comment. The thing is, I have never been to the race, you have never been to the race and Margery Glickman (who is the main protester) has never been to the race. Until we have, none of us can say with 100% certainty that we are right. My point is that these people so vehemently protest something they know nothing about nor have any person experience with. This is why I tend to lean towards believing people like Pumpkin and others who have personal experience with sled dog racing. All the "facts" you have posted seem horrible but I believe they are distorted and are not a true representation of the race. BTW did you look at any of the links I posted? They really are a good read.
19. Here is another good link, which I forgot to post above. http://www.akc.org/dic/events/iditarod_article.cfm This article is about the 1994 all Mal team.
20. I've got to say I'm inclined to go with what Pumpkin says on this rather than believe things published by PETA or the Sled Dog Action Coalition. These people don't seem to have any first hand experience with what they are protesting; they just try to get knee jerk reactions from animal lovers. Here is a link to the site of the all Alaskan Malamute team that was planning to run this year
21. All right for me :D I think I managed to get number two right becuase my boy has ears like that so I am used to it.
22. Congratulations, sounds like you had lots of fun.
23. ohhhh she looks lovely. Congratulations
24. Hope this isn't a too much of a stupid question, but just wondering what the different is between BARF and RAW. I have read a bit on BARF and know that it is Bones And Raw Food. Is RAW just ommiting the bones?
25. In Shannon's post it states that the punishment for some people is a life ban on owning animals or 25 year ban etc..... while this is a good start it is not enough. These people need to be hit with BIG fines, ie $10,000.00 These people don't care if they never get to own a pet. As they are doing what they are doing for money they need to be hit in the hip pocket.
