Darn. I tried again, if it still doesn't show up right let me know, I'll get Pik to do it.
-
Oooh we do that too only we just take a durable but old cotton wash cloth, soak it, freeze it, toss it too dog - must be in room with them though. This cleans their teeth too.

Maybe we'll have a weekly Pik storey, there are plenty to choose from

Feel free to cross post. It is important to educate Men Handlers (or Manhandlers if you prefer) everywhere, to ensure proper handling of the breed and safe and happy homes for everyone.

Not that I disagree with the general premise of the post but isn't this basically just an ad.

We had our first nice day two days ago and took the dogs out, had a great time, I got a bit of a sunburn on my cheeks, Pik did not fall through the ice despite making a good shot at it. It was great.
It was good to see the sun and feel the warm air....... sigh....... Spring is almost here!!!
- Amen to that! I can't wait to see if Kavik is any more interested in actual swimming, if Zaphod and Tyr will have any interest in water etc.
-
 , Pik, me, Kavik, Tyr and Zaphod will all be wishing the best for you both.

K wrote
Can anyone train my husband NOT to come into the living room when he gets home if he does not want dogs all over his work clothes
Probably no. Most breeds of men are "untrainable", they are also prone to repeating the same illogical behaviours, complaining voluably about the results, and then continuing to repeat the same illogical behaviours. Some breeds of men are to dominent to take direction of anykind and do not make good house pets for most handlers. It is my personal experience that most "Show Men" are, while the envy of other Men handlers, far more difficult to manage and tend not to display as many useful working traits as other breeds. However, one does not want to get a Man with alot of working drive without some professional outlet for this behaviour or he will constantly be trying to create work for himself around the house and we all know how that turns out

Summing up - We are discussing what the actual rules of Dogo should be, how long inactive accounts should be left and If we should take action regarding Laduenda based on what someone else wrote that she supposedly wrote on another board. I think.

Let me know how it turns out, you may want to avoid the instant flavoured oatmeal cause of all the suger.
-
If you mix the pb in while the oatmeal is still hot it usually melts up nicely as you mix.
-
YAY we realize we more or less agree, it was just perception/definition of hypoallergenic.
-
A dog aggressive dog does not make a good family pet wether you have another dog or not. Most potential dog owners are not prepared to handle dog aggression. It is no more acceptable for a pit bred dog to kill another family pet (owners or otherwise) then for it to kill a family member (for most pet owners their pets are family)

He is like this all the time except when he is playing video games then he is a shell of a human . . . its kinda eerie actually. But the rest of the time he is well . . . Pik. Hmmm I wonder if I can get away with telling you all the icy pond storey without retalliation . . . oh well its worth it. We took Kavik (only dog at the time) out to the ponds. It was late Febuary or early March last year and was quite warm. There was a nice layer of slush over the ice coating the ponds. We walked a bit and ended up down by the dock. Pik was eager to go play on the pond as I won't let him take Kavik onto the pond so when he walks Kavik alone he can't go play. I expressed my concerns about the thickness of the ice in view of the weather but . . . So Piks out on the ice and he says "Hey look, neat, there are air bubbles coming up through the ice." I respond with "Well maybe you ought to come back in then." And then Pik Fate being the ironic mistress that she is steps into emphasis my point. As Pik fell through the ice he paused only long enough to make a face something like this :eek3: and this  and this  and this combined with a slight "o" mouth and noise and then continued falling. I had the leash off Kavik, tossed out to Pik and was lying flat on the dock to reel him in in about 2 seconds but apparently the freezing water robbed Pik of the ability to reason, he could however, thrash, break ice and swimsorta to the dock faster than is humanly possible, he also went form putting his hands on the dock to standing on the dock without bothering with the intervening space, he had his wet shirts off fast and I gave him a spare sweatshirt. He also managed too keep his hair dry. He was actually fine and we had either some soup or tea in a thermos so we stopped, had that and some high carb foods and went home he was fine so it was very funny.

Well it sounds like your addressing the issue. Potatoes though! Why potatoes, come on dog at least go for the steak!

:o I think Kavik took a smart pill today. Tyr is out in the yard, he likes to stay outside alot but he gets lonely, so he whines, I open the door but he won't come in, wants someone to come out with him, can't stay outside with him all day :( . Last time he started whinning, I opened the door for him, and waited and waited, he wouldn't come in. I turned to Kavik and said - "Hey Kavik, Tyr's lonely, why don't you go into the yard and keep him company." exactly that sentence, didn't really expect a response but Kavik picked up his kong, went into the yard, walked up to Tyr and dropped the kong! They are playing now. :o

Thanks Alicat. I'll see if I can get hold of a camera, that way the vet will be able to see his different gaits. From what you've said I don't think we'll need the OFA thing, yay more money for dog toys.

Probably be fine - I find pet owners (me included) worry about every little thing but mostly dogs are fine. No harm in checking though.
-
If your dog does not have penut allergy you can feed penut butter oatmeal as a treat - make some plain oatmeal maybe 1/4 cup, melt/mix a fair size dollup of pb (not a high salt high suger variety) into the oatmeal, let it cool a bit and feed. My doggies love it, takes them a while to eat because its sticky, does good things for the coat as well.
-
No problem. Most of the general public may make that assumption as well so it may be irresponsible for breeders to advertise hypoallergenic dogs for this reason. They may be doing it knowing the public will make incorrect assumptions but if they explain what they mean by hypoallergenic it should be ok.

We took the dogs to the park yesterday and played some kong. Pik left the kong in his coat pocket and hung it up. Just a moment ago Kavik came in from the kitchen calmly dragging Pik's coat by a small protuding bit of kong, he deposited proudly in front of him like "Look, you couldn't find the kong so I brought it for you. Now you can throw it." Or maybe he was asking to go to the park again?
