Teacup Shiboodles would be all the rage!
-
Oh yeah, he's almost 6 months old - definitely mature enough. Doesn't Horsefeathers have a Poodle? Only problem is he seems to have a thing for the neighbor's neutered male Shiba.
-
Come on Gigi - you and I were going to breed some Shiboodles, remember??! (Wow, that name is almost good enough to be trendy. :o )

I should take a video of this. If I put some ice cubes in Kato's bowl he will bob for them and blow bubbles in the water. Once he gets one out, he plays hockey with it until it eventually disappears under the stove - where all things eventually end up. :)

My 13 year old mini (family dog - lives with my mom) is one of those puppymill dogs. We got her from one of those AKC puppy brokers back when we didn't know any better. They said she was from a local breeder, but when I looked at the papers later she was really from the great state of Missouri. I wouldn't trade her for the world, but geez, she's 2 inches too big for the standard, has luxating patellas, a slipped disc, a bad hip, and is prone to fatty tumors. Now she's gone deaf too - probably from listening to her own high pitched yaps all these years. She still runs around and acts like a puppy. She puts up with Kato, but all Schnauzers are to be treated with total disdain. Reminds me of my saltwater fish tank where we couldn't put 2 fish of the same size and shape in or they'd fight.

UGH! It drives me nuts. I was home sick last Friday and it was some morons who got a cat from the pound (yes, the pound!) and bred it to their other cat - so their kids could experience the "miracle of birth". <insert gagging noise> And the kicker... As the cat is starting to give birth the dad says, "Well, we were getting ready to go away for the Memorial day weekend, but I guess we'll stick around for awhile." So they were just going to leave the cat alone knowing that it might have the kittens while they were gone - real nice. We all know that animals always have little "miracles" and never complications, right? Then they try to justify making more kittens by saying that they are giving them to friends and family. Yep, everyone else in America has no trouble finding a kitten, but these people are apparently so blind that they had to make their own. I think I've only seen 1 or 2 episodes of that show where there was an actual justified breeding of a cat or dog. I shouldn't even watch it, but it's like you can't really believe the people on the show are so ignorant.

They usually swallow them. My husband found a molar on the floor, but since unattached teeth gross me out, it went into the garbage.

Well I know how helpful you can be because I still have your e-mails saved from when I was looking for good mini breeders. How about telling us about your dogs, posting some pics, etc...? I'd actually like to see your doggies. I think things got off on the wrong foot. Everyone here is pretty easy to get along with, but we all know how things blow up fast on the internet. I was a lurker on Acme for years so I know all about the breeder wars even if most of the people here do not - what I'm saying is I know where you are coming from, whereas none of the others know the history. If you'd said the same stuff on Acme, most of the regulars would have cheered you on, then USDABreeder would have showed up and a big ol' flame fest would ignite - I really think people on that board enjoyed that.
Canidae was highly recommended as a premium food, well it gave 2 of my dogs poop that was very close to the runs. Made all of them go more frequently.
I forgot you wanted to know Canidae worked out for me. Kato hasn't had the runs at all - he did on Wellness which he also didn't like as much. He has also had a noticeable increase in coat quality since I switched him - gorgeous coat. There doesn't seem to be a magic bullet for all dogs.
-
Blech. Bye-bye razor sharp puppy teeth. My little man is growing up. *sniff
-
I think it would be an interesting experiment just to see what the hair would do. I must blow coat! But NOOOO I'm non-shedding!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!! I bet the dog would just spontaneously implode.

Oh yeah K...you know the DPR will register your mis-marked Saint as a super rare white 'nard. Eventually you will be required to breed him to either a Poo or a Doodle to acheive the appropriate amount of doodle-ness. I think Poonards would sell like hotcakes. They'd still drool but be hypoallergenic. (I really hope I'm not giving some lurker any ideas. :o )
-
Nah, I'll just save money by registering them myself as the Doodle-Poo Registry - the DPR - and print up the papers on my laserjet. I'll steal the printer paper from work.
-
Well, I'm going to create the Doodle-Poo and put everyone else out of business. It's easy. Just take one Poo: huskypoo, yorkipoo, cockapoo, maltipoo, etc... and cross with one Doodle: labradoodle, schnoodle, goldendoodle, doodleman pinscher, etc... Each one is a rare, one of a kind puppy GUARANTEED to look like a dog. Get on the waiting list now!

Kato was barking at his reflection last night. All I could think of was how wimpy it sounded. I guess it's a good thing they don't open their mouths much. :D
-
I don't care what anyone says. I would never debark my dogs.
That's easy to say. Shibas aren't barkers, and anyway you'd be depriving yourself of that lovely scream. You might think twice if you had to spend the day with my mini schnauzer - 13 and deaf as a post. And I thought she was loud when she was younger...

I was surprised that the food looked good too, but it would have been nice if they had included the ingredients in their catalog. I think it's kinda odd that they sell Iams since it looks like they put some effort into creating their own food and therefore have an idea of what's good. Iams is like sawdust now. If you want a good laugh check out the Hill's website where they compare their food to a whole bunch of actual premium food. Theirs is "better" because dogs like the taste more. I bet my dog likes potato chips more too! Plus it comes in cool shapes so it must be better. It took me 10 minutes just to find the ingredient list and look at the first 5: Brewers rice, ground wheat, turkey meal, corn gluten meal, soybean meal Hmmm.... :-? Here's their oh so scientific test: http://naturesbest.sciencediet.com/more/difference.asp

Is that true about plastic? My dogs have always had plastic bowls and I've never seen the pink nose thing. I guess I need to get a different kind.
-
Can you buy this stuff without a prescription from the vet now? I saw it for sale on a website and it looks like it is now over the counter. I hated going to the vet just to get flea control so this would be great news.
-
I wish my dog would bark more. He only barks at my in-laws evil cat. I swear someone could break into my house and he would just stand there with his silly Shiba grin. "Oh you're taking the TV...PET ME!" "Nice computer...PET ME!" "Here's my toy. PLAY WITH ME!" He doesn't seem particulary loyal either so he probably wouldn't care if they took him too. Oh yeah, and debarked dogs still bark, it's just that they sound like they are hacking up a lung.
-
Kika is. She doesn't move when he sits on her. Every night Kato is in my spot getting dog hair all over my pillow. You better believe he moves when I lay down. He traps my husband's legs all night instead.
-
I used QuickTime and it worked fine. They are cute! :D
-
Kato licks their heads.

I have 2 males living peacefully, which is not something that is supposed to happen. I'm the warden of a chinny penitentiary - make of that what you will. :o
-
We also had Chinchillas. They were fun!
I have chinchillas too. Now, if you also own a Kiger Mustang I will really be weirded out. :o
