Well sheesh, it cost me $60 for them to tell me they can't find anything wrong with him. I had a feeling that that was going to be the case since he wiggled and jumped and played ball with everyone in the waiting room. Oh well, now I know I can rule out most things. So now I can only think it is one of three things: either he is getting into something over in the neighbor's backyard, or it's the wet food that he gets in the morning, (It's the only thing that's changed recently. I find it hard to believe that he eats it in the morning and it takes all day to churn him up, but I guess it could happen.) or he's just got some random bug that will clear up on it's own. They did give me some antibiotics just in case. I guess he's had a bad day since he didn't get any wet food, and strange people were poking at his butt.

Maybe because they do dog adoptions, they feel like she is promoting her dogs over theirs? I don't know...

I've got a few minutes until I head off to the vet . I have no idea what is wrong with him. The night before last he came down with some diarrhea, kept getting me up all night until he finally puked and was okay after that. He was fine the next day - normal poops, kinda tired in the morning, but perked up later after he made up his sleep. Last night - same deal, terrible diarrhea, puke, fine again. He hasn't had any weird food or anything, but it did start up again after he went over to the neighbor's house to play with their dog (he does this every night). I don't know if he's getting into something over there or what. I did give him a Greenie two days ago, but if he swallowed a chunk wouldn't it have desolved by now? There isn't anything in the puke that I can see either. Oh well, I will let you guys know what the vet says. Poor Kato. :(

Odd. My Petsmart is pretty good - except they don't carry any of the food I like. Kato has his puppy classes there. They know he's a show dog too, and no one's ever given me any attitude about it. I can't boycott them anyway - they've run everyone else out of business. :o The only other pet store around here (where I buy my food) only sells premium food and not much else.
The worker said she *heard* that with the Humane Society of the US, only 29% of your donations actually goes to the animals. The rest goes to administration and such. Not sure if it's true. Does anyone know?
HSUS is an animal rights group along the lines of PETA. I found their publications to be very deceptive as they make it sound like your donations are going to help the plight of homeless animals. They aren't affiliated with local humane societies or the ASPCA. In fact, I read in The Washington Post that they don't run a single animal shelter. Their budget is somewhere around $40,000,000 - so what do they do with all that money??

Kato makes kung-fu movie noises - WaaaaaHA!! It is really bizarre. :o I'd say that and the full body upheavel that he goes through when one of us gets home - ~pant~ ~pant~ ~wiggle~ ~wiggle~ ~wiggle~

I went Sunday to drop off some canned puppy food. Fortunately the kennel is closed that day so I wasn't even tempted to go look. I brought home a half dead cat the last time I looked.

ROFLMAO at the poem
People think I'm nuts when I say we got a bigger bed because of the dogs.
I used to think my parents were nuts for buying a king size because their mini schnauzer took up too much room - now I know the feeling.

The first time I spoke to my breeder I thought she was a b*tch! :o  I had been researching Shibas for a couple years and was pretty sure I wanted one so I was calling different breeders and getting a feel for who was responsible and who wasn't. Right off the bat, she gave me a hard time - 20 questions and more. Why did I want one? What happened if I got married or had kids? (Already married, don't want kids - ha ha, nailed that one!) She also kept emphasizing the negative aspects of the breed. I felt like I wasn't good enough to be blessed with one of her dogs. That's when I knew I wanted one of her puppies. She turned out to be the top breeder in the country so I guess I could've done worse. Kato is actually co-owned and has to stay intact until he gets his championship. I'd like to neuter him after that unless something happens to his parents that would make me consider keeping him as a stud dog. He's a spoiled rotten pet first and a show dog last. Dad is CH. HAGURO NO WAKAARISHI GO CHOUU HAGUUROSOW No pics of Mom yet, but she's apparently the only female of a very famous Japanese line to ever leave Japan.

Well tonight he fell off. He must have been sleeping on my husband's feet when my husband rolled over and pushed him right off the end of the bed. I heard a WHUMP and found him still half asleep and wondering why he was on the floor.
-
Little Kato likes to sleep between hubby and me - only thing is he's not so little anymore. He also sleeps with all four legs straight out and locked in place providing maximum sleeping area for him. I actually experimented with him last night while he was sound asleep - legs stayed rigid, couldn't bend 'em, and was able to rotate him onto his back while all four feet stuck straight up in the air. I can only assume that this is his anti-squishing mechanism at work.

This is the place I get my food from, and they sell Natural Balance: http://www.waggintails.com/new.epl?ProductID=1&CategoryID=561&AnimalID=1
I finally find a food for my dogs that I'm happy with and it's only sold at PETCO........
Order it. I just got 5 lbs of kibble in the mail the other day. :D

Good for you. One of my cousins was telling me how her sister (who also has a new baby so she's already pressed for time) bought a Jack Russell (pet store puppy, of course) and wants to buy another one so they can breed. I almost went off but bit my tongue since the sister wasn't there. Just what we need - more poorly bred JRTs.

My coworker's Schipperke would wait until he left home and then eat all the soap in the bathroom. I guess it was good! :drinking:
-
Hope his paw is better. Clicker train him so he will let you hold it. I did it with Kato and it only took two 15 minutes sessions before I could clip all his nails with him just sitting there - much easier then putting him in a head lock. I'm betting your doggies can be bribed with a piece of steak too.
-
Wow, so basically I could cross my Shiba with the Jack Russel next door and call it rare. Be the first to own this exceptionally rare breed! I'll call 'em Jibas. :o
-
Weird thing is he doesn't bother anything in the house, but everything outside is fair game. The absolute grossest though is when he pees and then goes back to lick it - like he's at a wine tasting or something. At least he doesn't eat poo. :o
-
I hear those APR papers double as toilet paper.
-
That reminds me. Do yours pick up every piece of trash, no matter how foul, and eat it? Kato barfed up a piece of wood, and I don't wanna know what else on the bed the other night.

Oops, the above post was mine. I didn't realize you could post without being logged in.

I guess I have a Sheeba. :D I've also seen lots of ads for "breaded" horses - must be tasty or there wouldn't be so many of 'em. And if that Datsun is a 280Z it might be worth some money.
-
Ooo! Ooo! Put me down for a Schnocker. That's a purebred schnauzer cocker spaniel, don't ya know.
-
Maybe some obedience classes would help give her some confidence. I've noticed some of the "needier" dogs in my puppy class have really come out of their shells since they started.

My puppy sleeps on my head like a little fox hat. Now I'm worried. :o
