I did also mean the rules and regulations. The AR fanatics want it to be enforced for ALL breeders. of course that is not possible considering all the one time breeders there are, breeding thier pets with no knowledge.
I am still not worried. I have worked for the government -- both at the Federal and State level. There simply is not enough inspectors to go around. There is not enough money to fund a project that would be of this magnitude. USDA has other more important issues concerning *human* lives. It may have to go to the Supreme Court and it well may pass. USDA will shake their heads and say, yes sir/yes ma'am, and it may take an inspector 20 years to get around to all the places that are perceived to be out of compliance.
"So, you believe that they should keep poor stock? If you truly believe this, then you are dropping down to an unspeakable level of uncare. " NO I believe they should breed responsibly or not at all. Agreed. "They are not going to stop breeding, but may change their practices. Having said that, as least the stock is better. " They are sure not going to have my dogs in their pedigree until the PROVE they are truly willing to change and upgrade thier stock and become responsible. Screen buyers, sell on spay/neuter, long term no looplhole health warranties, lifetime takeback clauses, educating buyers. That is fine, do not sell anyone of unethical practices one of your dogs, ....not saying YOU personally should. "It's a profit and no matter what YOU or anyone else say, they aren't going to stop. " As long as they are doing it solely for profit, they sure aren't going to get help from me. YES, I think we ALL understand that --- over and over again. I, also, am well educated and do not need you repeating it over and over. "If it's competition with you or other "good" breeders; their reputation will procede them." Competition? that is the byb excuse as to why the quality breeders wont help them. The people that want to buy pups from me know the difference. Apples and oranges. And yes their reputation is beginning to proceed them, why do you think they want to scam good breeders ? They want good stock so they can advertise them as champion lines. They still dont want to screen buyers, do health testing, long term no loophole health warranties. YES YES YES, I HEARD you the first 10 times you posted this! YOU can not be at everyone's door step telling them NOT to sell an unethical person a puppy. NO matter, some where, someone, is going to be slick and purchase a "show" quality puppy. I was using "gameness" as sarcasm because the owner used it obviously not understanding what the word actually means.

I don't think the irresponsible breeders have ruined it for me. Maybe I'm just confident in my program.
I do not believe in commercial breeders getting better stock to mill and pump out pups like a product.
So, you believe that they should keep poor stock? If you truly believe this, then you are dropping down to an unspeakable level of uncare. They are not going to stop breeding, but may change their practices. It was like $5.00 for a pound! I almost fell over. We get 50lbs for $14.00 at the feed mill. I've been told that many companies are opting for the "less silica" in the diatomaceaous earth because of all the controversy about the silica. I really does work on the fleas, that and nematodes! Unfortunately, it also hurts the beneficial insects, as well.

Mei-Mei -- we are thinking along the same lines. I posted it under "ROO", it should be moved to admin or something else, tho.

Yes, I see what you are saying, now. Asking for an array of health problems.

Any way to LOCK these people out if they continue this crusade?

Exactly Mei-Mei (we need to get together and shuffle some cards!_ -- even if a person doesn't play poker......the entire world is not stupid. People who belittle, talk down and try to make others feel inadequate are themselves insecure about their knowledge and place in the world. :-?
ON THE 7 OF JANUARY MY FEMALE PITTBULL GEORGIA GAVE BIRTH TO 8 BEAUTIFUL PUREBRED PUPPIES :D THIS IS HER FIRST LITTER AND THE FIRST TIME IVE EVER BEEN AROUND NEW BORN PUPPIES ANY TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS FOR HER AND I. OH WILL SHE EVER STOP BEING AGGRESSIVE TO THE FATHER WHEN HE WANTS TO SEE THE BABYS
The pup's eyes should start to open around 10 to 14 days. Some are later, depending on the individual pup. Please do not take this as being rude --- but dogs do not have the same values of parenthood that some (notice, I said some) daddies do. The sire of the litter could care less that he is the "father" of the litter. He is here for reproduction, not rearing or visiting the pups. He may be interested because he has not seen little puppies or just curious. Some sires do take an active role in the litters. Some sires will kill another sire's pups, because he wasn't their sire. Depends greatly on the temperment of the dog. Please keep him (and EVERY other animal, child and person -- that she isn't comfortable with) away from the pups because she could accidently hurt or kill one of the pups trying to keep him away. Some females get overly nervous and will eat their pups at any sign of another animal (dog or otherwise). Some females are excellent moms. It depends on the individual female --- they are all individuals. She is only being protective of the puppies, this is hormonal and instinctural in nature.
yeah, i know, i'm late again. but i just wanted to say that you can buy diatomaceous earth MUCH cheaper at pool supply companies. they use it in the filters in lieu of sand. we used it in our pool, and we could get a 50 gallon drum of it for like $30-$50. so i imagine you could get a small bucket or bag of it for almost nothing!
Oh my, have you priced it lately at the garden shop? Outragously overpriced! The different between the pool kind and the livestock feed kind is the "Silica". Silica has (allegedly) been linked to respiratory cancers.

.......about any of us! I had to catch my breath.

Bribob, You have just......in what we say in the country...."JUST SHOWED YOUR A$$ ON THIS ONE" You and others have come to this forum, immediately started FLAMING, NOT calmly ADVISING the rest of the members and the non-members about person(s) that you find unethical. Then you have the *ignorance* (calling a spade a spade) to say that we are blind to the ugliness of the world of puppy millers, commericial breeders, and other such abusers. You have not a clue, no idea as to what you are saying. Most of the people on this board are very well --- let me say that again --- VERY WELL versed of the understanding of the ugliness of this world. We spend hours, days, months, a lifetime helping the same animals that have been produced by these monsters. Our hearts are broken time and time again. We spend the days crying, the nights having nightmares about the horrors that we've seen and the inbetween time trying to make some sense of it all and not slip into the darkness of insanity because of it. For what? Because we KNOW the problems that we are faced with, have been faced with and will always be faced with concerning a person that is out to make a profit from an animal. Why do we do it? Because we are the people that truly, deep down, love not only our animals but EVERY animal, and other people's animals. Until you KNOW each and everyone of us on this forum or spend the time talking to us about OUR ethics---how much time we spend at shelters, writing letters, calling on the phone, preaching, bitching, begging, pleading, ALL FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOG, then you have NO RIGHT to say a word.

Playing the devils advocate -- There are various factors that could have caused this condition. Nutritional imbalance of the bitch while carrying the litter. Nutritional imbalance after the pup was whelped and was eating. Exposure of the bitch to a terratogen or mutagen during pregnancy, or exposure to the pup after whelping. A genetic defect. Personally, I don't care how "game" he is --- his conformation would not stand up to any hard work, hard play --- no matter what he says. Is it inherited? Could be. Could it be passed to future offspring? Could be Will this catch up with him? MOST DEFINATELY Does he care? NO --- he's still using him for breeding. Does he know anything about genetics? NO, that's a given. Does my preaching about having a good-eye for a dog and the understanding of basic genetics may any sense to anybody NOW???? Having a good-eye isn't always enough. AND THE CHOIR SINGS~~~~~~

Sandyb --- PLEASE ---- you have well educated us in the breeding program of TLC. I think that we are all intelligent enough to make up our minds about this person. Trust me, I will NOT be buying any Chihuahua's from him or anyone else. BECAUSE we do NOT use Chihuahua's on the ranch. Thank you for your input.....now please STOP! :evilbat:
Thanks Hobbit can always count on you to come up with the goods  It looks like Im off surfing to Alaska Do you remember the black and white bitch (you said it looks like a McNabbs) out of a red merle and blue merle bitch she has developed (probably always had) white hairs at the base and turns black half way up the hair could this be a sign of a cryptic merle I guess its most likely as she was a merle to merle breeding .One more question is it safe to breed her to a merle (from merle to merle parents)?
Yes, I do remember her. Nice female, minimum black. It is possible that she could be a phantom merle or the coloration could be what is called "banding". If it's banding, then no -- she is not a merle. Is the merle from a merle to merle a "double merle" or could he be carrying another color (like black or red)? You probably do not know this unless you've bred him to a solid black; if you have done this and ALL the pups were merle, then he is a double merle. (A good example of TEST-MATING). How much white does he have on him? And, do you want this white passed to the pups? If it's the picture of the merle that you sent me, wasn't he a "self" merle (had no white)? If he has any white at all, no matter the size, he is not a self merle. Let's say, she is NOT a merle and you bred to him and he IS a double merle, then all the pups should be merle. No risk of lethals (unless by terratogens or mutagens -- rare). If she is NOT a merle and you bred to him and he is NOT a double merle (carrying a black and/or red gene). She should produce solids and merles. Again, no risk of lethal (disclaimer: unless by terratogens or mutagens). If she IS a phantom merle and he is a double merle --- it IS a risk. You may produce lethals, you may produce all merles, or you may produce merles and only one solid. Let's see, she has brown eyes, right? If one of her parents had blue eyes, she could be heterozygous for that color. If the male has blue, green or both colored eyes and is homozygous --- some of the pups will have an eye color other than brown. If he is heterozygous for the blue or green color; then -- some will have blue or green and some will have brown. If she is homozygous dominant for brown eyes --- and his eye color is blue or green, all pups should have brown eyes --- and some will carry the blue eye gene. When those that are heterzygous for the blue or green eye gene are mated with a blue or green eyed dog --- some of the pups could have blue or green eyes.
