Pictures of Boomer and I since the awfull tragedy.
courtnek replied to Holz_Boomer's topic in Everything about dogs
I hate you. You look better in your grungy pj's and no makeup then **I** look all dressed up for work...         -
so what???? Selling a large un-fixed pit bull on line to the highest bidder???
Rott has already told us (if you read the original post) that Drey is fixed.
-
So, you are saying that the 'picture thief' also has RNP's email account and password? And gets his email without RNP knowing? After the FIRST 'fake auction' don't you think RNP would have changed all of his username and passwords? I can't believe caring dog owners are not outraged by this.
if you scroll back and read my post, you will see that's EXACTLY what I think. And it is NOT hard to do, either. Why someone would want to I dont know. But this is really starting to sound like a personal vendetta to me. Rott openly declared he is NOT selling Drey. Why would he do that if he still was? He knows people here peruse more than one board...perhaps he pissed someone off. Even if he did change his username and password, that info is still easily obtained. As far as getting his email without Rott knowing, how would he know if the emails they didnt want him to see were permanently deleted? or are you insinuating that I'm lieing about the ease of stealing this info?
-
and that email addresses can be easily stolen? along with IP addresses? once you have someone's ip, and email, the rest of it, including user information, passwords, etc, is easily obtainable. that information is all encrypted in a file and stored on your hard drive. All you need to do is know how to find it. I know many people who do, including my son's 17 year old friend. Who showed me how it;s done, and no, I wont share that information, so dont ask. If you have their ip and they have a constant internet connection (like I do) you can get into that person's PC and pull off whatever info you like. Windows doesnt even have to be up, in fact it's easier to get at if it's not. so again, Rott is innocent until proven guilty. I dont knwo where YOU'RE from but this is the U.S. and I really dont care how many people say you are "reputable"....did you simply not notice that the other thread was locked? which means, we dont want to hear any more about it til we hear what Rott has to say. Mods, I say lock THIS one as well. :agrue:

and you'll learn HF, we know you will. A heart your size can deal with anything. You'll teach him how to live in a multi-pet household, and he'll teach YOU how to handle his cart, his sadness, and his eventual transfer of love to you. You CAN do it. I KNOW you will.... You are wonderful....again, thank you, for being you.

I dont really know. I have been trying to find that out. It is a sighthound, not a scenthound, so it may not bay at all... Scenthounds bay to call the hunter...and alrt him to trailing and finding the prey...sighthounds may not bay at all. The warning was just incase they do. I personally like the sound of the bay, but the neighbors might disagree...     of course, during a barkfest (common around here, theres a dog in almost every house) the bay becomes annoying...its' loud, drawn out, and sounds like the dog is in pain...one of my neighbors called AC because they thought Laurel was in pain...she was adding her two cents to the neighborhood barkfest...

somehow my earlier post disappeared??? weird..... Both of mine now are rescues. I have rescued and fostered for 20 years. All kinds of dogs. All kinds of temperaments. All shapes and sizes. I will always rescue when I get a new pet. :D
-
most hounds, I have found from working with Laurel, are sensitive. A harsh look will often make them chill out - harsh words make them cringe. they need training, but by all means it must ALWAYS be positive. This is not a dog you can yell at and waive your arms around in the air....also, be prepared for the bay, if Whippets bay. It's a highly unusal sound, and can be aggravating if they wont stop. you can go here to hear the bay...these are beagles...the foxhounds (mine) is much more drawn out http://www.grsites.com/modperl/soundview.cgi?dir=misc&fn=misc169.wav&desc=Bloodhounds%20baying

As with humans, every Whippet has his or her own unique personality. Nontheless, there are common traits that can be generalized to the breed. Whippets are bright, playful, exuberant, noble, graceful, loyal, affectionate, independent, and they enjoy playing practical jokes. They are, at heart, basically elves. Everybody claims that their favorite breed is intelligent and good with children (which, I suppose, means that the dog will refrain from dining upon them). Whippets are very bright, which helps a great deal in training them, but this can be offset by their independent nature: their desire to do your bidding isn't as great as in working breeds, for example. Motivation can usually be provided in the form of something edible. Yes, Whippets are good with children, although not so good as to be able to spare you the expense of baby-sitters. People frequently misjudge Whippets on the basis of their appearence. For example, some think that Whippets will be cold and aloof, due to their aristocratic bearing. On the contrary, they are are loving and demonstrative. I have also heard concerns that Whippets might be high-strung and skittish, probably a result of seeing their quick reflexes, and the boundless enthusiasm with which they greet you at the door. I have had a dog or two that didn't care for thunder or fireworks, but truly neurotic Whippets are rare. This is not to say that Whippets are not excitable: they will zip about when their human comes home after a day's work (or when feeding time comes around) but within minutes they settle back into their normal state, which is asleep on something soft. The American Kennel Club has published the Whippet Breed Standard online. Check it out! Whippets are kin to Greyhounds, and are a member of a group of hounds known as sighthounds, which include Greyhounds, Afghan Hounds, Salukis, Borzois (Russian Wolfhounds), and others. Sighthounds are distinguished by their visual acuity and their dependance on their eyesight for hunting (hence the name). Sighthounds also tend to be lean, deep chested, and leggy. Can they run really fast? Whippets are swift and agile runners. They can sprint at 35.5 mph, which is about 5 mph faster than a domestic cat or a white-tailed deer. Click on this picture for a QuickTime Movie of a running whippet(600K) Greyhounds are faster, topping out at a maximum speed of 39.35 mph, and have greater endurance for longer runs. It is a joy to watch these animals enjoying the full power of their speedy bodies. Despite their fragile appearance, these are tough, resilient little dogs, and I have repeatedly watched one trot away from a high-speed wipeout that to all appearances should have caused it to burst into flames, or perhaps break into several fragments. Don't you ever feed those dogs? My dogs eat very well. They have healthy appetites and are permitted to eat all they care to. Their lithe figures are the result of regular exercise and good genes. They are the envy of just about everyone. heres the link http://www.sonic.net/~whippet/what.html theres a lot of good information there

This is a strange home remedy for an ear infection....
courtnek replied to imported_Cassie's topic in Everything about dogs
y'know...that makes perfect sense. I'm surprised the doctors never thought of that. sugar is very absorbant, and iodine cleans quite well..... huh! maybe I'll try it on Laurel. -
As I got older and started to drive....I used to wonder if that was because none of those cars/trucks had power steering. I didnt know the scenes were faked.....but havent seen one in quite a while either. :D

Bantley, maybe he doesnt like the crate in unfamaliar situations. Freebee wouldnt be crated at all. perhaps he does not think of his crate as his den. but as somemting else. perhaps he feels punished? definitely take him to the vet, and discuss the reasons you crated him when he misbehaved...

There was a show on about the 10 favorite TV animals. My two favorites came in in first and second place. Second went to Flipper (I'm SUCH a Flippe fan - I would love to live somewhere where I could befriend a dolphin) and of course, Lassie in first place. Everyone loves Lassie. we all know all the Lassies were male. What I didnt know was very interesting. ALL of the Lassies, in the shows and movies, were bred from the original Lassie, truly named "Pal". (lived up to his name, thats for sure) There were 8 of them altogether (this show ran from the late 50's) and number 9 is waiting his place for the "casting call"... :D The ONE show scene they could NOT get the original Lassie (Pal) to do, was snarl. He was so laid back, they had to bring in a "stunt collie" to do the snarling scenes. He would do the fake arm grabs, knock overs and take downs but he wouldnt snarl....too good natured I guess. Lassie also has his own "star" (along with Kermit the Frog) on Hollywoods "Star Row"...

Brittany Spaniels Vs Welsh Springer Spaniels

which brings up something I have always wondered about. It's the Red Cockers that seem to suffer from "rage syndrome", and now you say it's more prevalent in "Red Springers"... Is it the color? Red Headed people are generally known for being more snappish than non-redheads as well. Around here it's jokingly called the "Irish temper"....and in people, it is more like a rage syndrome. A sudden blowing up, the person snaps, and it's all over. Where is Science Doc? Maybe she knows.... -
have they been drinking more because it's so hot? what goes in must come out.... even two rooms away and upstairs, dogs can smell bleach, much better than we can.

again, I disagree. I am not calling for new laws about dog restraints, they are already there. And no, I am nowhere near perfect. Both of mine have escaped, through doors that my kid and his friends left often. However, they are not the biting types and have never hurt anyone or any other animal. well, squirrels dont count...do they? My point is that if you have a dog that is known to be, or could become, dog aggressive, then there is more responsibility involved in owning that dog. If mine escaped and bit somebody, or killed the neighbor's cat, then yes, that is my responsibility, even if it was an accident. If I hit someone crossing the street in my car, although it was an accident, it's still my responsibility. Same thing if my kid bats a baseball through the neighbors window. You get my drift. If you want to own a more aggressive dog, you need to be aware of that and take all the precautions necessary to see that your dog does not get loose.
There is too many dog owners out there who shouldn't own a dog at all!
I will agree with that 100% - there are people who should not be allowed to have children as well. Unfortunately, in those cases, there really is very little anyone can do about it, excpet try to educate.

I am all for locking this thread K and Mei. Rott, when all has been decided, please start a new one to let us know. thanks Katy

Brittany Spaniels Vs Welsh Springer Spaniels

a truly gentle dog would be a Golden Retriever, or Lab. They still need proper training. and dominance, but I think you could handle that. Goldens need more grooming, Lab's need more exercise, and training. They are, in most situations, if trained properly and treated properly, very easy dogs to have and get along with. I think you could do all of that. It might do you some good to have an "easy" dog, for a while. I might get flamed for this, but if yu can find a "Golden Lab" I would go for that. I had one. he was exceptional, and I miss him greatly.... -
I've just had to make the biggest decision of my life =..(

it "appeared" sudden, at the onset. Thye had not noticed this behaviour before, but the tumor had been there for a while. The vet said there were probably signs that the people missed, until he bit. Afterwards they remembered "grumpiness" that was out of character. Refusal to obey, that was out of character. even eating habits changed. we tend to overlook the "little" things.....until they become "big" things.... best of luck to you... :-?
