1. oh how sad.....Labs are such escapists....I always have to put the leash on inside the house or fenced yard, cuz I KNOW she will make a mad dash if given the chance..... tell your Aunt I am very sorry please....
2. I will NOT eat at the computer..... I will NOT eat at the computer..... I will NOT eat at the computer..... I will NOT eat at the computer.....       can I crosspost that?
3. WOO HOOO!!!! He's been claimed!!! and the story gets weirder.... apparenty, MY SON found him roaming around out front, and stuck him in the yard after mowing the lawn, and then left for a party and didnt tell me....   when he came home last night, I was asleep, and when I got up this morning he was gone to work, so we didnt see each other till a little while ago....I had called AC and they said he had been claimed, his name is Metra, and they had both papers and pictures to prove he was theirs. YAYYYYYY!!!!! I asked Kyle why he didnt tell me and he said "you always put dogs you find roaming in the yard, so I didnt even think about it"...(which is true) asked him to let me know next time..... anyway, dog and owner are reunited!!! he said he saw the signs up at Jewel and called AC. :D :D :D :D
4. I cant stand it. I'm going back to get him.....I have a small room in the back of the garage where my son keeps his motorcycle...its warm and clean. If I move the bike into the main garage, I can set upa holding room for him back there, and the they can all use the yard seperately no fights will break out. then after the holiday I can have a Pit rescue come get him. I hung signs up at the Jewel store with a description last night, since I have no film in my camera. and where I had taken him, but now I'm afraid that was the wrong thing to do.....what if someone who wants to bait/fight him claims him and takes him? I'llbeback later....
5. HF's poodles are GOOD TO GO...thats how I like them. shaved and not prissy...sorry HF, I cant stand the typical poodle cut. SHAVED POODLES ROCK!!! 8)
6. yes, we are nuts....but the unconditional love of a dog is well worth the "looks"... welcome to Dogo Kes.....your mom is a good doggie owner. she will love you forever, and if you have problems all of us are here to help. unlike most dogs, you have a network of crazy doggie people to help you out...
7. someone put a Pit Bull in my yard!! I didnt even known the poor thing was there until I let the dogs out!!! the gate had not been relocked since my son was mowing the lawn, and the lawmower has to come thru the gate... it looks like a real purebred pit, but I'm not the best at identifying them.. Free ran up to it, it didnt make any "bad" moves, but it did try to grab her when she got close. she is a dancer-dog, and backed away, and barked. I went out and trapped it on a leash (using it like a catch lease) and secured it. him. its an unneutered male. I turned him over to AC, but I feel both bad and scared. it did try to hurt Free, by grabbing her, but I feel bad for him nonetheless... people are SO FREAKING STUPID!!!
8. hey Kes! this be Free and Laurel....my sister Free does not like ANY of the vets but the one that smells like a girl....I like her too, but she stuck pins into us too and Free got mad and mom had to hold her head (Free is cool but when she's mad I try to stay outta her way, unless she steals my bones than I get mad too. ) and mom kept saying CHILL FREE!! (what does "chill" mean? she never says it to me unless we are sparring over bones...) oh and the running thing?Mom takes us to the river to play. there are people sorta far away, walking and running and riding these things with wheels and they go fast. when we are by the river we can run loose, but we cant visit the people unless our leashes are on. Free says thats no fun, she wants to chase the big wheelie things...and mom says thats why we are on leashes, so we cant chase the big wheelie things...I dont want to, they scare me, but Free pulls so hard to chase she chokes herself. sometimes she's not so smart. (dont tell her that though...she has attitude issues) I would rather stay by the river. I know there are foxes there, and I like to smell them and follow them. I dont chase them though, mom says no. Free wants to be in the water ALL THE TIME unless she sees a wheelie thing go by... so when you run, do you chase the wheelie things too? Nice to meet you. Mom says Kat is a good doggie person and your life will be good from now on. 8)
9. thank you Seijun. thats exactly what I was going to say. while i firmly believe that the general population should NOT own wolfdogs, bobcats, tigers, etc....there are some people who can and do successfully. these people know the inner workings of a pack animal, and understand them (in a wolfdogs case, not a bobcat....no pack behavior there!) I also think in many cases the general population should not ownPit Bulls, GSD's and some of the other more dominant breeds (excluding Pits, who are not dominant but need special handling) for any reason. these are not the "dogs next door"....they require a special ower, who understands what they're getting into, and what structure the animal needs and how to enforce it without pain. why is it that the police rarely have issues with their K9 dogs, but John Q. Public gets bitten by his? Because the police are put through training on how to handle the dog, dominate the dog and be alpha to it, without injury to either. this is a horrible mistake on your friends part, and the dog will be the one to suffer. I trip over my dogs in the dark all the time. none have ever even attempted to bite me. Freebee will yelp and growl, if I hurt her, but never bite. its almost like she's saying KLUTZ under her breath....more of a grumble then a growl. Laurel just moves out of the way. in fact, proper NILIF training tells you to make the dog move if its in your way, dont step over it, make it get up and go somewhere else. (for an overly dominant dog that you're trying to train, you can step over the mellow sleeping dog). this girl and her husband are going to end up being badly hurt by this animal. I just pray there are no children in that household.....
10.
a lot of people mistake Clea for a Lab!
Clea I could understand...golden and lab puppies look very similar at that age. (the one in your picture) but POODLE? na na na.....no poodlies in that pup, not just from looking at it...
11. when I got her she was scared of everything, even me. she has worked her way up thru fear of people, fear of loud noises, fear of everything, to barking/baying at noises outside.alerting to things out of place (like the kitchen garbage on fire), barking/baying at the door when strangers come (she used to run and hide, and sometimes fear pee and poop) I am Proud of her!! it took a ton of work, but it can be done. I never had a fearful dog before, most of my time was spent demoting overly dominant dogs into good house pets. this side of the coin was actually harder, because you have to instll confidence without instilling over-confidence...and dominance. I am PROUD of her now!!!
12. I am very sorry to say this Pups, but I too think she is unstable and not to be trusted. did the vet ever examine her for brain tumors or blood abnormalities? I dont know that even NILIF will help this poor dog, although it certainly cant hurt. do you live in a high deer area? its been recently discoverd that dogs can get Lyme disease, which causes stiff and very painful joints, and they react with aggression while otherwise very normal. I would have the vet do a thorough workup on her, and if it comes back clean and your behaviorist cant help her, I am sorry to say but its time to say goodbye. you cant risk your family to this kind of aggression.
13. I had a purebred GR that was neutered at 3 months. nothing bad happened to him, he grew normally, he was larger that most but he was also a huge puppy. I think I would get a second opinion on your breeders neutering idea's. they soud kinda, well, archaic.... humping is not a sexual move, its a dominance one. and GR's are intelligent. he's already figured out you can stop him on land, but not in the water. keep the rope in your hand and pull him off if he starts up. he has to have time-out out of the water, and once he goes back in and stops this behavior, he gets a treat when he comes out. good luck 8)
14. actually, the tug is a good thing, providing the dog never wins. it demotes them quickly, and thourougly. he must NEVER win however...
15. Any dog can be a menace to society. they are dogs, not people. they need to be trained to be dogs living in a human environment. They are born neither good, nor bad. they become what we make them. we as people need to make sure that they become the dogs we want them to be....
16. it is rare in dogs, but for the best protection, get her/him neutered/spayed. get all the "parts" removed, and it wont be an issue. 8)
17. GO Lokipops... they need an attitude adjustment. you need to provide it as Alpha. NILIF should take care of it. 8)
18. full moon. mine started on Sunday... 8)
19.

my hound used to fear growl, then poop....
For a few seconds there, I thought "hound" was "husband" and boy was I confused..
Holy COW... I saw the SAME thing... I was like :o
         I will NOT eat by the computer.....I will NOT eat by the computer... 8)
20. Foxhounds rarely win, but in all honesty I think thats a good thing. they were bred to hunt, and I have seen show hounds who look like they have spent their whole lives being "prissied" up for the show..give me a WORKING dog anyday!! they arent the best pets unless you understand and can deal with them.... to those firing up your flame throwers, I feel the same about Labs. they should have LARGE SQUARE HEADS. I hated the narrowing of the head thats been done lately....they should have a tail that is long, rigid, straight and can clear a coffee table in a single sweep...no second tries.... FIRST time.... I strongly feel that if you cant handle that, you shouldnt have a lab or a foxhound..   8)
21. they are losing revenue, thats the point. I have seen petitions from people encouraging tourists to not stay there, to not shop there, to not use any of their services or buy any of their goods.... it wont help the dogs now gone, but this has high billing in dog socieities and news coverage. if they repeal it, they've lost. and the whole country (and world) will see the stupidity (and the potential fallout) of BSL.
22. "fat and lazy" is an Urban Myth. an altered dog often needs less food intake than an unaltered one. they get fat and lazy because people keep feeding them the same amount of food even tho they dont need it any longer. there are hormones associated with neutering that also step on thyroid. thyroid slows down, dogs need less food. fat dogs get lazy.... try explaining it that way. maybe you'll get through to him. as far as "fun", mine are all done, and are no less fin, or loving, or willing to play then they were before getting done. they are less hyper. if he is considering "hyper" fun, then yes, I guess they're less fun then. 8)
23. I agree with Kendalyn except for one thing. confident dogs WILL growl to warn people off...its the warning before the bite/attack. you got a chance to go, do it or I will hurt you if you dont. but peeing himself is fear growling. my hound used to fear growl, then poop.... it could have been the skateboard. some dogs hate them. how is he around Tim without the skateboard? that would be the deciding issue. if he's ok without the skateboard, then Tim needs to leave it at home or outside the gate when he visits, and your pup needs desensitizing to skateboards in general. doog luck
24. :o :o :o :o I think all your prayers and well wishes did some good, in exactly the opposite of what I had asked for... he's been lethargic, tired and sleeping almost constantly for two weeks, thats why I thought his time was coming. Today, for the first time, he is up and moving about. even jumped on the counter to eat on his own, and got nasty with Ford for trying to steal his food.... :P :P :P so obviously, (at least in MY mind) he heard all your farewell wishes and said "Bite me.....I aint going ANYWHERE yet...." well, even at this age, he has proven again he earned his name...      thanks everyone for the well wishes....who knows how long he will hold out if he thinks we are telling him goodbye...
25. he's about done in. He revived with different food and loving, but now he's about spent. I have to put him on the counter to eat, when I lift him off he goes straight to sleep. he's 17 1/2. he wakes up to eat again, and thats it. he's been vetted repeatedly, there is nothing wrong with him, he's just old..... I think he will go soon. please wish him a pleasant goodbye. I know that sounds asinine, but I have been wishing gim a pleasant farewell.... am I bad? I wish for him to go quietly, in his sleep...no pain, no euthanasia...thats how I want to go...the vet says he's on no pain, and shows no sign of it..... *sob*
