Court, I'm sure that post had a little to do with me. I'm not upset so don't take this badly in any way. I'm actually glad my butt got chewed because I finally realized something. Toby is not my dog. Me and Toby may not be 100% compatabile, but since I've noticed what I've noticed that mutt has my heart. He's not "mine". He is however my daughters and my husbands. I noticed how gentle and protective he was of my daughter, so I started teaching her to care for him. So she nows feeds and waters him. We will work up to a bath eventually. Hubby is working with him on his rude behaviors, bitting and jumping. The jumping has almost stopped completely and the biting is easing off too. My son is still scared of him. Toby is just bouncy and fast for Christopher. Christopher prefers slow paced and easy going, so he likes to watch Toby but be out of his reach. So I now accept that Toby and me may never be super close, but seeing him that close with the rest of my family is enough for me. I don't know why it worked out this way, but that is ok. Maybe it happened to teach me something. I've learned alot throught out this. Oh yeah, also Toby has been having play times with the neighbors dog and we run laps around the house. We were exercising him, but apparently not enough. So now that he is buring off some energy he is being less nippy and such. So, things are great here now. Maybe we will never have that "bond" but even if we don't seeing the bond and love he has with the rest of my family is enough to make me fall in love with him. I longer see him as the dog I fear hates me, I see him as the cuddley lovey puppy that my daughter rolls around the yard with and couldn't live without. :D

I'll do it as soon as I can. I just got back from an all day field trip to a small theme park with a bunch of kindergarteners. I need a nap....

Ok, you shouldn't have opened this one. I just wanted to tease you. I'm going to borrow the digi cam this evening. So sometime between now and Monday you will get Toby pics. Then eventually when I can remember to take my film to walmart I will show you what he looked like as a little thing. So sit and wonder until I can get them up. NA NA NA NA BOO BOO. Sorry couldn't help myself. Watch for em!

Oh I totally understand the gun to head thing. It's been a while since I've been that bad, but I still get pretty bad ones. Getting one at the moment. It is making my left eye twitch. Oh great nap time.

Don't know if we have ever had a pad issue, but I have a really gross one. The neighbors giant mutt tends to rip up my trash if I leave it out over night. (I don't do that anymore) Well, I thought he was after old food or something. One day I finally noticed what it was, used diapers. He would get the soiled baby diapers out and eat most of it. Then drag the bits there were left down to his house and put it on the porch. YUCK. I bet he was sick for a while.

I get the wonderful migraines with my monthly friend. Thanks to my birth control though I haven't seen that friend for a good 2 years. Just sitting and awaiting her return. I'm sure it will be horrid when it returns for the first time. I can't wait.

K may be a bit biased on that one. Pyr have you read the tattoo threads elsewhere on the board. I think shoulder would be good too, I've heard the ankle is painful

Ah, that is a cute idea. I'm sure it is gonna hurt. Wouldn't know never done it. I'm a chicken.

He will get that darn thing yet. I like the one rotten posted. Looks like it would work well and be much more comfortable. Put one of those cones on and try to function. I run into the walls anyways, I would kill myself with one of those things. I'm sure it annoys the crap out of dogs.

Oh ok. Maybe I should turn tail and run. No more conflict for me for a while, I've cause my fair share. Must be stress free for atleast a week.
For some strange reason I have a feeling this post has been brought on because of the "Bonding" post.
It's all my fault. That was why I didn't give every detail of my horrible mistakes. I figured everyone already knew them.

I made the giant mistake of letting other people(not dogo people, people in my day to day life) force me to do things against my will. I let them boss me around and didn't stand up for myself and my dog. I, without realizing it, made the mistake of comparing one dog to another. Didn't mean to, but once I re-read my posts I realized I was doing it anyway. I'm sure there have been some others, but that is all I can post for now.

Night Night~

I've heard they do it when there stomach is upset, but I'm not sure. Toby tends to nibble on it often. He prefers dandelions though.

AWWWWWWW. Tell me did you have any trouble having him out in the house? I'm sorry so many questions. I've always been interested with the little things. Are they fairly smart? Did he listen like a dog or ignore yau like alot of c@ts do? Again sorry if my questions are driving you silly.

2 animals of the same species and completley different personalities. Isn't that crazy. Sometimes some animals and just crabby natured. Would love to see a pic.

Oh you said chinchillas. Great. I love those little fur balls. I tried to talk hubby into one years ago. Just wondering, how are they as pets? Hubby said they seemed boring. Not saying I would get one, but maybe way off in the future if I considered it. They are just so funny. I love watching them take there dust bath. Silly creatures.

I know I don't know the whole story. I can only attempt to pick up on what has happened since I've been here. I just can't see DAL not have some feelings towards this dog if she has cared for it this long. Dispite of the past and how she may have felt I'm sure it is still hard for her to just ditch the dog. I think she is taking into consideration how the dog will feel. The dog does't understand and I think DAL wishes to ease her transition. Being someone who has had the doggy blues I guess I understand DAL. Dogs can drive you nuts one minute and steal your heart the next. JMO

The problem with having so many dogs...
Crystal replied to Horsefeathers!'s topic in Everything about dogs
 am I embarrassed here or do I laugh  You notice there are about 3 main posters on this topic. I know who you are and if you do it in public I will point you out. Toby was horrid when we first got him. The stress upset his tummy and for about a week he was awful. Hubby was always running around looking for the smell. I knew what it was. Speaking of farts, my dad is an on command kinda guy. It horrible, him and hubby work together, they have at several places and he is always sneaking up behind people and farting. Totally gross. I think he even did it infront of a boy or two I liked when I was younger. The worst is when he would do it in the car and lock the power windows so we couldn't escape it. EWWWWWW -
I just re-read this and I think maybe we all missed the point. All DAL was asking really was how to say goodbye. Well I guess you just give her a hug and tell you that even though you were not best of friends you still cared for her. I know maybe dogs can't understand all of what we say, but still talk to her, maybe not so much so she will understand but so you can be at peace with this part of your situation. Tell her that you are doing what is best for her and you hope she has a great happy life. Followed by some wonderful treat. Wish I would have thought of that to begin with.

Look at the ears on this German Shepherd!
Crystal replied to JackieMaya's topic in German Shepherd Dogs
:o Didn't expect ears that big. How great. If he does grow into those he will be one big boy. -
Congrats.

She just wanted to mess with you. She figures hey like mom's life isn't stressful enough right now, watch me get her attention. Glad everything was ok.
