I'm thinking okay, maybe it's a large dog, like a GSD/Mastiff Something that doesn't like other dogs. To my shock he say's, they're 2 spayed female labs!!
And thats exactly how stereotypes are formed. I've seen WAY more aggressive labs in my life then I have GSDs or pitties. Glad to hear Sassy was ok though!!

Ok, so he just got back from the vet and she said its a torn ACL ligament or something like that, something in his knee. She wants to give him meds and just have him rest on it for a little while, and if it doesnt get better he would have to have surgery, a $1,500 sugery I might add. My mom isnt sure if she wants to do it, but me and my brother are BEGGING for it, Fritz is my brothers baby, he'd do anything for him. We'll see how the meds and rest work first. Keep fingers crossed please!

Ok, when my mom took Carse on a walk this morning, Fritz made his way down to the laundry room and the litter box, and went poo and pee (yay!), and on his way back up to the couch, there are 3 stairs. He stopped at the bottem, and let out a huge sigh lol. Went up one stair, stopped, sighed, went up one more stair, stopped, sighed, then I came down and picked him up and put him back on his couch. We gave him a little 81 mg asprin (He's a 20 lb cat   ) rolled up in a peice of meat, he ate it as easily as Carson eats his pills in PB.. not even noticing the pill.  Mom's taking him to our vet this afternoon, I'll update after he gets back.
-
Ok, Fritz seems to be pretty miserable right now lol, so is there any pain meds like asprin or anything that we can give him? I know that its ok with dogs, but I dont know about cats. :-? :(

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. We just got back from the vet. We were there at 1:30, sat in the waiting room for an hour, went into the other examining room, we sat in there for 2 hours. HE NEVER GOT SEEN BY THE VET. So we're going to take him to OUR vet tomorrow morning.. Grrr.. When he walks on it, he puts the left hurt leg infront, crossing over his right leg. It looks really wierd.. He walked over me when we were at the vet, and I could tell he was putting barely any weight on it at all. :( My poor baby. I hope we get to see our vet without waiting 3+ hours.. And this place wasnt busy AT ALL. And its an EMERGENCY VET. Gahhh.. anyways.. there your update. Keep paws crossed for him!!

And I'm freakin' out lol. Last night mom saw him and Schnickle (btw, our two cats if you didnt know lol) run down the stairs, and afterwords Fritz was walking with a limp. This morning she was going to check on him, and my dad and her couldnt find him anywhere. Eventually we found him under Scotts' bed, and coaxed him out with a piece of meat. Yeah, he still has his appetite thats for sure. We put him on Scotts bed and you could easily see that he didnt want to put any weight on his hind left leg. Scott and I took him down to the laundry room (litter box is down there) and put his food and water down on the floor, and let Schnickle in (he was freaking out outside the door, meowin like crazy lol.) He was still trying to limp-run away from being locked in the laundry room. He can sort of walk on it, but its with a pronounced limp. We're going to take him to the vet after church, just waiting to see if its just a pulled muscle or something. I myself would like to take him to the vet NOW, but then again, I dont have a car. Sigh. Anything we should do before we take him to the vet? To keep him comfortable or from hurting himself more? Its kinda hard to keep an already stubborn fat cat from walking. I'll update you guys as soon as I can.

Hey, well you know what, if you don't like the way we run things, you are quite free to leave at any time. Don't let the door hit your a** on the way out. :)
My, my. No need to be a rude a** about it. If you were one of my moderators you'd be removed by now. I wouldn't dare let one of my moderators speak like that to a member. It doesn't help with member retention nor does it help get new members. I'll leave, but I'll have no problem repeating what you told me WORD FOR WORD to other people and make sure I mention it came rom a moderator while painting Dogo in a "less than nice" light.
Clearly you have zero understanding of the particular way this forum operates.
Clearly not and from what I'm seeing now, I'm quite sickened by it. I can see why everyone I talk to about Dogo has NOTHING nice to say about it. NOTHING whatsoever an d if you don't care. That's fine. It's NOT my reputaion being painted as such, it's Dogo's.
Through trial and error we have found that allowing free speech is the best way of keeping things in check.
FREE SPEECH is great, but, as I told admin on another forum that goes all out with FREE SPEECH, it only goes so far. Besides, one of the rules is NO profanity. That contradicts your allowance of FREE SPEECH to keep things in check. FREE SPEECH means just that and anything goes.
There is no fun in an administration that constantly plays boring, bossy parent, deleting or locking threads randomly and banning people.
Well, poo on me. But you know what? That's exactly what it means to admin a discussion forum. This is the only forum I've been at that doesn't actually admin itself. That would be comparable to a manager saying they're going to go into work and not even manage properly or fire folks. Boy, talk anbout a 'lazy' administrator. No wonder everyone I meet has nothing nice to say about Dogo. I know where that comes form now.
As for "none of our business." People express their opinions on boards, people respond.
Exactly, that's what a discussion forum is meant for. However, telling another member they need counseling was crossing a fine line and DAL, under no circumstances, was obligated to divulge if she had received counselling or is receiving counseling and what for. Mei-Mei thus had no right really say it was any of her business because, quite frankly, it wasn't.
Oh Dear Me Kayzhond ....I must truly and sincerely apologise for the fact that I dont do as you see fit in this forum... How many posts do you have exactly...oh yeah 25...25! wow that makes you a BIG time member here right?...please...if you had bothered to look into this place a little deeper and actually "see" what goes on here you would know that I lock threads like this upon request (democracy babe its all in the 'rules') ..I am afraid you have no right as you like to use that word to comment on the running of this forum....
Rude and to the point, huh? You folks must enjoy getting the reputation you've gotten for yourselves. I'd never say that as admin to any of my members who came out of a 2-year inactive period to post in a situation like this. I've administrated many discussion forums in the past and this is something I'd never ever do. It just reeks "bad mouthing" from the person its said to. But hey, as I said, it's your reputation - not mine. And quite frankly, you've already been doing a bang-up job at painting Dogo is a "bad light" as it is so heck, why not just go for broke? Eh? By the way, isn't this a "flame war"? According to Dogo's defnition of a flame war: A flame war occurs when two or more users flame each other in an escalating manner that threatens to continue unabated. Respect other peoples privacy. Honestly, this thread has definitely continue unabated for quite some times now. I really do think it should be locked in an effort to stop the escalation and force everyone to get over it and move on now since they can't seem to do so on their own. Not to mention, one can only think what newbies must think of this after having read it, whether in its entirty or just a few pages since the initial post and succeeding post were edited out by DAL. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes them a bit scred or leery to open post for fear they might get "attacked" like DAL did. Think about your reputation. I don't believe you let it fly out the window. Quite sad indeed.
And thats why you arent a mod or admin of Dogo. If you spent any time at all reading other posts, you could see the atmosphere here. Its like a family, and we worry about eachother and their well being. AND their dogs, as in this case. No ones keeping you here. If you dont like the way Dogo is run, leave. :: Edited to add: Oh, and where exaclty are you comming from? Some foofy board where if you stick a toe out of line with the rules you are banned and the thread it locked? Yeah. Think about your reputation too.
When the dogs are inside, if there is any sign of silence, I know their up to something. I usually catch them in the garbage or trying very hard to get up to the cat food.
lol, the same thing here. If I cant hear him, he must be doing something bad. Usually dealing with counter surfing or trash diving.

she is going to do what she wants and what makes her happy
that's what it's always been about....I am going to pray that these dogs don't end up with behavior problems or worse, in a shelter....
Thats exactly what I was thinking. And really, if she wants to run away to another board, ok.. I thought everyone here was friends, and like Mei said, I thought that ment, telling her what she needed to hear, not what she wanted to hear. I'm just praying that all of the animals stay safe.
having said that, SOME dogs will NEVER have perfect recall. hounds and hunting dogs fall into that category. their nose knows, and they become hearing impaired if the right scent gets to them before you do.
Thats for sure lol, Carson's recall is pretty good, but the second he smells something, alllllll the training is gone, and he's on the hunt.

:o :o :o :o I'm pretty speachless.. You're moving somewhere the dogs dont know, with a NEW dog, that they just met, and the cat. Now, Zoey might have to stay in the neighboors yard alone, and where exactly is Tank staying? When are you going to be spending time with all 4 of them? :o

Haha! Its been great reading all of these... Carse looooooooves to have his face rubbed, especially underneat his chin. His whole neck relaxes till you're basically holding all the weight of his front body in your hand rubbing, his eyes get all glazed over and he'll start moaning... He also loves his ears rubbed, he'll start moaning and making the funnyest noises, and then when you get the right spot, his back leg will start twitching around  He'll pretty much be happy with anything though!

Would you be intimidated if you saw this?
ESSlover replied to Horsefeathers!'s topic in Everything about dogs
Mocha was a big time smile-er! When we saw her at the shelter, she'd do her little baring teeth thing, but her tail was wagging like crazy! After we adopted her, whenever anyone came home, she'd greet us like that, and whenever she'd get excited she would too. I never could get a picture of it though, it was very very cute. Plus it would fend off any potential burgelers!! -
BK, WTF is your problem?!? :o   All I did was say I wasnt going to say anymore than I did because I didnt feel like arguing with anybody, but what do you do, start one! :x  Im really sick of you picking fights with people.
Just one little thing... she probably replied the way she did because the way you typed it made it come out sounding snobby-ish.. Its hard to change how someone types into how they feel.

I'm glad Free's going to be ok. I couldn't imagine not being able to have Carson here for 10 days, I cant even think of what you're going through... and I would've done the same thing. If a coon was attacking your kid, and wouldnt let go, you would've shot it too, right? Your dogs are your kids, so to me, its no different. Prayers going out to Free.
to some extent I agree, but not to completely ban the breedingof dogs. I have said this many times before, but some of the newer members may not have seen it. there is the PAWS bill already on the table to try to put a stop to BYB's and excessivie breeding, by requiring inspections and I believe licensing. I have said all along that ALL breeders should be licensed. the amount of the license would depend on the output. the PAWS bill limits breeders to so many litters or so many puppies a year that can be sold. I think the limits are high, myself, but its a place to start. I would add to that....and this is where I always get flamed, so zipping up the flak suit now.... NO ONE breeds without a license. that license requires them to prove that the health certs have been done, the breeding is done for show, or to better the breed, and the "gene pool" the breeding is done from is genetically wide enough to reduce the risk of genetic defects. I ama firm believer in NOT in- and line-breeding. you can only rein the gene pool in so far before it becomes unviable. will this change the appearance of the dog in question? yes, definitely...is that a bad thing? NO, not IMO. they bred labs with GR heads for so long it was making me sick. Labs should have battering ram heads, and an otter tail that can clear a coffee table in a single sweep. second, if you are not a licensed breeder, or showing the dog, than it MUST be spayed/neutered. this would not be as hard to track as everyone thinks. rabies shots are tracked here by the county. the vet is required to fill out a form showing the shots have been done, and send it to the county. you will lose your dog if you dont comply. same could be done for neutering. they wont catch everyone, I know, but the majority of people do take their dogs to the vet for shots and such. will people like it? maybe not, but I really dont care. there is no reason to have an unneutered dog unless you intend to show it (and I have issues with that as well) or are a licensed breeder. I dont want to hear ANY of the crap about "just one litter will be good for her..." or "I want to teach my kids the miracle of birth...." (its all on video. go buy one. its cheaper than the litter you want to have). I think if this could be enforced, you'd see a lot less animals in shelters. the BYB's would be gone, from regulation, or forced to put up or shut up about their litters. the oopps births would be gone, if all dogs had to be done. there will always be shelters, and pups in need. this wont stop the stupid from giving up their St. Bernard because they had NO IDEA it would end up at 200 lbs..... but I think it would put quite a dent in the problem... 8)
Yeah.. what she said.
Mine wait until I'm on the phone. So I have to stop mid sentence and yell, "HEEEEEEEEEY!!!!" The person on the other line just loves it.
lol, I've done that before too. Except it'll just be Carse trying to rough house with the cats.. notttt a good idea. I let out a big "EYYYYYYYY EY EY EYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!" and he stops dead.

Happy Birthday BK!! Hope your day is grand. :bday:

lol, That is too cute!! Whenever my dad is rubbing my moms back, Carse always comes over and nudges his hands away from my mom, and lays ontop of her, not because he doesnt want her rubbed, but because he just wants all of the attention.  In our living room we have 2 couches on a 90 degree angle, and then a coffee table in the middle of it. My dad will sit next to the two couches (leaning up on both sides) and my mom will rub his shoulders (As you can see, my family has messed up backs lol). Carse will not hear of it! He'll jump up on my moms lap, lay on my dad, lick his face, rub up against him. Its really cute to see, but my dad doesnt enjoy not getting his neck rub. :P
