1. (Non dog related, but cant help it!! :P ) WE'RE GETTIN NIKKI TOMORROW!!! Btw - Nikki is the name we picked for the new kitten. I'm so excited!! We went to Petco today and got a liter box (she'll be in my room for awhile till we can trust her around the house by herself, and until we can trust Carse with her) to put in my room, and food/water bowls, kitten food, a lil toy thingie, treats.. AHH!! I'm so excited. Just wanted to shaaaaare. I'll be taking alot of pics of her tomorrow, so expect alot!!
2. Lhasa / Terrier mix? The back legs and tail look soooo terrier to me! She's a cutie, whatever she is!
3. When we were there today (we wanted to go and Scott had to see her within 24 hours of filling out the app.), we asked the vet tech who was there about it. She said it was in her abdomen (you could feel it if you tried), but nothing too serious. She said that when our vet spayed her, they would take care of it then. Thanks for the link, DO! :D
4. My dad called the vet, and she said it's actually a hernia in the abdonmen *near* the hip. She said that if its been fixed, thers no problem, it isnt life threatening or anything. If it hasnt been fixed, it should, or else it could rupture and that'd be baaaaaaad.
5.
yo this is the everything about dogs section baby bitch! you know literacy is a condition of your graduation to full on dogo bitch! never heard of hip hernia but i will go look now!
Oh shush you, hip hernia's could happen in dogs too.. I think.. soooooo!! It does belong here! And cuz it gets more lookin at here. So ... THERE! :P
6. On the paperwork that the people who gave up the kitty we're most likley getting, they said that she has a (from what we can read) "hip hernia from birth". Any idea what that is? My dads calling our vet today to ask about it, but who knows when that will be! lol. Wanted to know if its something we should watch out for as she grows and whatnot. Thanks! :D
7. Well first of all, some dogs just dont like chew toys! Our first dog, Mocha, was soooo mellow, she wouldnt chase any balls/frisbees, chew on anything, not even bones! :o I'm not sure about washing/feeding just because I've never had a 6 month old puppy, and I'm not positive if its the same for them or not.
8. Well at training earlier this year, there was one session where they brought in the bunny, and you would get your dog to sit and lay down and such. Yeah, ok, with a field dog whose brain listens to his nose before anything else in the world (even chicken!! :o ), this little excerisize didnt work to well. Atleast 5 minutes straight of dead staring at the bunny. No movement. No blinking. We finally had to take the bunny back outside, but then it was constant clawing at the door "needing" to go outside. Silly pupperz.
9.
Sola: I believe I can fly. I believe I can touch the sky. I believe I am 2 inches shorter than I used to be.
:roflt: :roflt: :roflt: :roflt: Lucky puppy!!
10.
OMD....I read almost the whole blog....the mudstream had me choking.
LMAO, Same here...
11. Oh, and welcome to Dogo! :drinking:
12. Hahahah!! Yeah, he seems to be a bit.. out of the ordinary shall we say? :o Btw - I read the first post too, you're a great writer.. and I'm sure all of us would love to hear more about Nigel and Sola :D :D
13. Hahahah!! That first one is priceless!!
14.
What you need is an Emergency Recall word. Pick a word (not come, or here, or anything that you usually use) and use it only to call her in emergency situations. Here's the key in teaching it. You must practice first in a controlled environment - that means you have to have her on something like a long rope, say 20 feet. Shout your word (for example: "Sassy! Danger!") and when she comes, have an absolutely awesome treat wating. Not only do you need a treat waiting, but you need to make it last for 30 seconds. So if it's a slice of bologna or something, rip it up in small pieces and feed them to her one at a time, for 30 seconds. BTW, if she doesn't come to you when you shout the word, pull her to you on the long lead and give her a treat. Don't repeat this exercise more than 3 times a day. 3 times a day a few days a week, and you should have a reliable emergency recall. Don't forget to make the treat good (better than any regular training treat) and don't forget to make it last a long time (30 seconds at least). Wash, rinse, repeat. Don't use the word unless you intend to give her a big treat. My dog Kira can be anywhere - being distracted by nearly anything (people will even feed her bits of food and pet her to distract her) and when I shout the word she comes running. Works like a charm. Now I'm not gonna say that this is completely fool proof. There could come a time when something in the world is just MORE tempting that even an amazing emergency recall treat. But those things are few and far between. Your emergency recall word, if practiced correctly, should produce an excellent recall for you to use in these emergency situations.
I think we'll try that with Carson! He'll come 70% of the time, but when we reaaaaaaally need him to, he doesnt. :-? Thanks for the advice!
15. God, I've seen that a few times before, and everytime I'm in tears at the end. I cant wait till I get to see my Mocha Baby again.
16. I'm so sorry, Mouse. RIP Gladis!
17.

Btw, just for the record, I am not Norma but was accused of being her. That’s what trigged my previous runt.
Do you mean grunt?
Or maybe rant? :-?
18.
My beagle when you call her back does a belly crawl with a look like "Please don't be mad". So I usually end up meeting her half way and picking her up.
Thats what Mocha would do.
19.
All I'm going to say is that K is going to be pissed when she comes back and reads all of this.
Ditto. :-? Really guys.. just grow up, and drop it. If both of you stop talking, it'll all stop. I'd vote for a lock.
20.

No wonder this forum has only 600 members.[/endquote] 598 now :user: :hand:
21. Grrr. I hate when people discriminate you because of your age. I was playing pool on Yahoo and was talking to someone about their dogs, she seemed to be a BYB. I was telling her about the problems of overpopulation and the health and wellness of the dogs that are in BYBs and stuff. She was being very polite, but when she asked how old I was and said 13, she just was like "Oh, well you dont know what you're talking about, you're just a little kid!" and left. :-?
22. At our OB class there was a bunny that they'd bring in and you'd have to get you're dog to sit/down/stay and stuff. Carse didnt do too well on that part. :o Talk about tunnel vision..
23. Haha!! Those are so cool!
24. 1 for the adult, 5 for the puppy :o :x
25.
aww poor Fritz. I hope the tear mends itself. Physio can usually help it and he doesn't sound like a very active cat so healing should definitely be quick.
  Active would definately not be a word to describe Fritz.
