1. Oh Tammy, I'm so sorry that I didn't reply to this earlier. My condolences to you. You did what you had to do...May your Ariel rest in piece. I know this must be hard for you. Hugs.
2. This is very misleading IMO. I agree that many people will think that this dog really is a Short-haired Golden Retriever. It is fine to describe the personality as golden retriever-ish. But listing the dog as a breed it's not? I don't think that's right. :-? I agree with Mei-Mei's suggestion. Put "Short-haired Golden retriever" in quotations. But only after the actual breed is listed. Lots of people out there won't see this person's sense of humour and wit.
3. Awww, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. May Mocha rest in piece. :( I know you must have really loved her and knowing that I am sure that her years on the Earth were filled with happiness and joy. Let us know how things are going with the adoption process, 'kay? We need updates reguarly. Hugs to you.
4. Okay, I e-mailed my sister (who lives in Sweden) and asked her what she called picking up her doggies poops - she has an Airedale Terrier and a Flat-coated Retriever. She told me that she calls it, "doing the deed". I always used that expression for some thing toooootally different.
5. Hey there Jodi, hope that you'll be spending more time around Dogo now. ;) You're Aussie Shep is beautiful, Bailey's the colour aussie I'm hoping to own one day!! :loveu:
6. What's with oatmeal shampoo in the stores? I went to the pet store to get K some shampoo for a bath and all they had was Oatmeal shampoo (or so it seemed like). It was EVERYWHERE. Anyone wanna tell me why oatmeal shampoo is so good for dogs these days?
7. This thread is going to make some people snicker and snort for sure, this is because it's all about names you use instead of saying "I'm going to go pick up my dog's poop!" A few friends were hanging out with Kevin and I who were dog owners and we all realized we all call picking up poop different things. For instance, Kevin and I call it "poo patrol". Or if some one is over and we don't want to embarass the other too much we just say "patrol". A friend calls it "taking care of business" while another simply calls it "pooper scoopering". Then one of our male friends said that what he calls it is, "Shirley, pick up the dog shit!!" And his wife, Shirley said she calls it, "No, do it yourself, shithead!!" Sorry if the language was inappropriate, but Kevin and I thought it was hilarious and wanted to share. What do you all call picking up your dog's poop?
8. I'm going to do all the pets in our house. Kyra (dog): K-dawg, "K", Kayie, Ra, Baby girl, baby (just plain like that) puppy dawg, little angel, sweetie, and many other corny names LOL. Oh & Kevin calls her "Kyra-sauras". Elmo (cat): Mo, Itty bitty kitty, fat cat, little man, baby boy, cute stuff, and frisky. Mr. Sneaky (ferret): I usually greet him as "YUCK!" but Kevin calls him..Sneaks, mister, and rodent.
9. What do ya'll use to clean your dog(s) leashes and collars?
10. I'm not sure if this has been done yet here...forgive me if it has and also delete this. ;) Post your dog(s) nicknames!
11. X, I wish you the best of luck in your situation with Patti. Hugs.
12. Oh dear, how horrible. People really don't seem to think before they act anymore. :stupid:
13. That's an awesome drawing, you really are good at that!! Keep up the great work.
14. The bodily functions one is hilarious LMBO. I loved it!
15. I have been reading your posts & not responding much, but I absolutely HAD to respond to puppy pics. Heh! What a sweetie pie. How is Bailey fitting in? Hope things are going OK. 8)
16. I just threw K a bite-size piece of turkey and it smacked her right in the head. She was paying attention because she was begging me for some. So I'm thinking that either K is a little slow or I have a girl-ish throw (makes sense).
17.
i am getting to become addicted on here!!! :o
Honey, you ain't addicted until it says "Addicted". BTW, it's great to have you here!
18. I can't believe what happened. Everyday I take K for a jog through a little forest area near our house that has a few little creeks here and there. Today we were jogging by when K aburptly stopped and I went flying backward. Thankfully, I landed somewhat gracefully on my behind and got up. K then began to drag me towards the nearest creek. Without realizing what was going on, I watched as K jumped into the creek and I was still trying to get her to come out so I was holding onto the leash. I learned right then that K could over power me any day, any time. With one slight tug, I was sitting in the dirty, muddy, diseased (I'm exaggerating) water of the creek. There was also some sort of sand at the bottom and I'm pretty sure it got into places it wasn't supposed to go. :( It was so bad! Then 2 ladies and their shih tzu came back and asked what the heck I was doing. By then, K had crawled into my lap and was licking the dirt off my face. I don't even wanna know what I looked like! Probably Sasquatch. :-? Bad, bad K. Stupid, stupid me. :stupid: Ahhhh. I need a drink!
19.
well, I found the dogs.......eventually......
LMBO. Well, at least you found your way through and didn't get lost in those many, many abs. :o I agree with everyone else...I'm not into the beefy, extremely buff guys. I like a little muscle sure, but that's just too much IMO. :-?
20. Looks delicious. ;) K wants a slice of cake! Happy birthday Jada.
21.
Crud...I must be getting old. I saw the dogs before anything else!
Yeah, ditto. I saw the dogs first too. I guess we were too good at this game, Tammy. ;) What talent, what poise.
22. Who ever said that was drunk! :drinking: Goo sure proved them WRONG!!!
23.
i want one!! lol how did you walk out of there WITHOUT a puppy? lol i would have said, hey i want this one! lol too cute! i've always wanted a golden *sigh*
Well, it's quite simple...even if I had desperately wanted to I could not have. The breeder was amazing, she had everything organized and every pup spoken for months in advance. She also had the male and female pups seperated and told us that it was partially to avoid those who said they wanted females, to stay away from the males and vice versa. She said some thing like "Can't have some one falling for a pup they can't have"...*gulp*...that's me! I mentioned to her how I "wanted to take one home" and she smiled then told me to join the other 50 some odd people who were on the waiting list LOL. I guess I'll just wait around to get my Aussie Shep. When that happens, we definitely have to arrange for a play date, DAL. Even though we are extremely far apart. Oh well, distance never held any of the explorers back so why should it hold us?
24. I'm so sorry to hear this. How hard this all must be for you. Hugs coming your way!
25. I just realized I never thanked you all for the fantastic suggestions. So...thank you! I took all of the advice into consideration and decided to start off slow. I used your method, drjeffrock, when you suggested I should make sure she's pretty tired. And you're right, a busy bee of a dog doesn't have the time to chew. She's been going on hour walks with me during the day and then 15 minute jogs will me at night. K is one tired dog by bedtime. 8) We've also increased her playing selection. She received about 20+ bones this week and has had one helluva time chewing them all to pieces. Thanks again for all of your expertise. It was greatly appreciated.
