1. I agree with what Mei-Mei said. :) It sounds like you have a great best friend who is as dedicated to animals as you are. That must be a great thing to have in common. I'm sure Peaches will settle in and stop causing such chaos. She misses the woman who first showed her what love was. I would be sad too that s/he wasn't around. ;)
2. Good luck to Tigger, here's hoping to a quick recovery. Also hugs to your mommy to help her through this. Even though you will be perfectly fine and this is minor, mommies need some encouragement too. :)
3. Adorable pictures. Your new little one is definitely the apple of his mommy's eye I'm guessing. ;) Where did this pup come from, Aroura? I never heard you planning to get him or talking about him. Am I just not observant or was this kind of a suprise? Congratulations, by the way! My favorite photo is where Josh is with Diego. There is nothing more gorgeous than a guy who loves animals and shows them affection. This one's a keeper!
Awwwww Steph I think he's a bit old for you dear!
Yeah, about six years too old for her ESSlover. He is my age. Now wouldn't that be scary? Just ignore Steph and her boy crazy ways.
4. When we all go out (which is slim), Kyra is crated. Once she was crated for 8 hours because I was at work and Kevin was visiting family in London, Ontario. We both left fairly early and then got home late. Right away we took K out though. I felt so awful for leaving her. Does anyone else get those puppy dog eyes when they lock their dogs in the crate and are walking away? I try not to make eye contact or I'll wind up going down and hugging her. :( But she is not often left alone anymore because I am always home with her and a bunch of other dogs in our house. It's very convenient because she gets twice as much attention because mommy is usually always home. :) Now I'm probably babying her TOO much, rather than not enough...
5. It is always hard to lose a dog, even when you know it is what's best for him/her. You did the best you could as well as the right thing. Rest in peace, Lily.
6. He also looks like a lovely dog. I love his colour, as previously said above, and he just has the sweetest expression on his face. Just makes me want to kiss the cute big guy. :) How are things going with Hogan? I noticed that you often pick the older dogs. Is there a reason for that? I think it's great! The older dogs are often the ones who don't get adopted for many reasons and you are definitely doing some thing excellent for them. So kudos to you! Good luck with Hogan & Brutus.
7.
Have the other people confronted you about it? I'm thinking that unless other people in the neighborhood start giving you problems, it might be best to just shrug it off and let it go. It's possible that others see her for the crackpot she is, too. Sometimes getting really defensive only makes you look guilty. If other people aren't mentioning it, perhaps it's best not to bring attention to it at all. I know it sucks to be blamed for something you had nothing to do with.
Unfortunately, they have. For a bit no one seemed to accuse Kyra other than the wench who came up to us our first day back. Wrong. One of her "croonies" came up to me and K asking, "Why is she not wearing a muzzle?" She went on to say, "With Kyra's history, she really should be wearing a muzzle or some thing that will stop her from nipping people and dogs." Argh, I was so mad! I told her that she could speak to Kevin's sister who had her all weekend. Then we'll see if they keep blaming Kyra. A day later, a random woman asked me if Kyra was the "vicious dog everyone is talking about". :o I said no, of course not. I showed her how K sat and let her pet her. Then I watched as K gave the lady kisses and she still said, "Well that dog isn't human aggressive..she's dog aggressive." D'oh! I don't know what to do... Not only is K innocent, but the story keeps changing. First the dog had only nipped other dogs. Now they tacked on that the dog was nipping people too. Oh my Dog! Is there more advice now that there is new information?
8. That is why I truly cherish this forum and everyone in it. I also love how everyone here understands and is constantly offering advice. Everyone here is the best. :) ObedienceGrrl, I would cry if Kevin said I could get another dog in the next year or so. Nevermind that I was going to be getting a dog in the near, near future...like you. I would probably start sobbing with happiness. LOL I know, I know..I'm pathetic. Anyhoo, I'm so glad that everything is working out with you and Tater. Update us as soon as you can.
9. I'm very sorry to hear this. May little Billy rest in peace. :(
10. Congratulations. This thread has been very eventful. First I was going to write "Kyra and I have our fingers and paws crossed for you", then I was going to say that you were a shoe-in after the second post, and there you were in another post, already in. I love how that worked. I know you will give Tater a good life. Please post some pictures as soon as you got your hands on some. :)
11. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It is very tragic; Angel had to leave her puppies behind. My deepest condolences.
12. Kevin and I got back a couple of hours ago from our anniversary weekend to some thing startling. We had picked up K and she had a new bone that we brought back for her (actually, we brought back 5 bones, but who's counting?) We all got out of the car - Steph included- when a woman basically charged our car. She started wagging her finger at Kyra and cursing at her. :o I looked at her like: "What is WRONG with you? Where are your meds?" So she gave me a dirty look and responded: "Don't pretend you don't know." Ummm, I really don't know. The witch went on to say how Kyra had been terrorizing the neighbourhood all weekend. She had been wondering about without a leash on, pooping on people's lawns, and nipping at other dogs. :-? Not to mention that she howled and barked all night, keeping the whole neighbourhood up - including this lady and her husband who is said to be quite the crab when he doesn't get his sleep. ;) Kevin, Steph, and myself began to laugh at her accusations. There was one itty bitty, teeny weeny little problem: Kyra wasn't home once this weekend. She stayed with Kevin's sister while we were away. We also know for a fact that she couldn't have been there because they live 30 minutes away from us...it would be a pointless trip, nevermind that they didn't have a key. There was just no way it could have been K. But this witch says, "I know what I saw and I saw Kyra doing all those bad things." Unfortunately, most people believe her. This is really upsetting me now because this is the second time K has been accused of another dog's crimes. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? :( It is really hard with Labrador Retrievers because many look very similar. But some how this lady STILL is sure it was K. It wasn't, it wasn't, it wasn't! That's what I want to yell at her stubborn face. Kevin says: "Don't let it get to you." But there is no way I want the whole neighbourhood to think that my dog NIPS other dogs. No way, no how. So now I'm trying to figure out a way to set them all straight. Got any ideas? TIA-eileen
13. Thanks, Justyna. I'm trying to educate myself as much as possible on this breed. I'm contemplating a few other breeds so right now I'm just attempting to educate myself on each one. I hope you don't mind answering these questions... -Are Corgis very active? How often do you have to walk them? -Are Corgis friendly or reserved? Are they very loving and give many kisses? -How are Corgis with other dogs? -Are they easy to groom? -How are they with children? Thanks in advance. (TIA)
14. I'm so happy for you, Naomi. I know that you had your heart set on a little furry wagger that you could keep in your purse and there he is. And what a doll. :) I can't believe you got Justin to agree. Kevin is so stubborn and now I'm mad at him. How come J is so easily convinced and Kevin is so set in his ways? Your so lucky, my guy won't cave on the SECOND dog idea, nevermind third. Boo-hoo! I want my second dog. Convince him for me! How old is "Boonie"? I personally love the name. Not only because the guy is a cutie (just like the dog), but also because it's related to sports...which I adore. I have seriously been considering naming my next male dog "Beckham". I think some one who came here had that name for their dog and now I'm gonna snag it away from them. I love naming dogs, it's so much fun! I sure hope I don't have a baby and wind up calling it "Belfour". :o That poor, poor boy. He would be the talk of the town! Plus with Kevin's last name that would be HILARIOUS!! Naw, I'll stick to naming dogs for now...until I have a baby, that is. How are your baby conceiving attempts, anyway? You haven't mentioned them a lot lately. I know you two went for a romantic weekend together and I was wondering if there were sparks flyin'.
15. This is just tragic. It's really hard to lose a dog when they are old and have lived their lives to the fullest. It must be exceptionally hard to lose those little darlings at such a young age. Rest in peace, Athena and Jewels. I know that you will be taken care of where you are now. Hugs to you, Bailey'smom. :(
16. Well, look on the bright side, they sleep there because that's how much they love you and desire to be as close to you as possible. They want to be with you...or maybe they just like the bed.
17. DAL, you know how much I love you. So you know that I'm just saying what I feel is the truth. I know that you might get mad at me...but don't. You're my girl! :) Teacups are not a breed....I think the term you are looking for could be a "Toy Poodle". They are just as small and cute and not such a genetic risk. I think it's great that you're getting a new pooch though. I wish I had the guts to just get a pup behind Kevin's back. But he would go mad and move out. Oh well...more room in the bed for me and my doggies. :evil_lol:
18. In the last four months, my dear friend has lost two of his dogs to old age. The older dog, Harvey was 12, which was a ripe old age IMO. The other dog, Katie was only 9 years old. My good friend Rob has taken the loss of his dogs REALLY hard and I thought it would help if he had us with him. Hugs.
19. I'm so glad that the two of you have arrived home safe and unharmed. It seems like you are already growing fond of Peaches. I know that she will never be Rocco, but she will always be Peaches - there to kiss and snuggle with. I also just want to say what a great person you are, HF. We need more people like you out there! All dogs around the world would probably thank you if they could talk. Kudos to you big time... Enjoy your nap - then get the heck on here and post some photos.
20. Sounds like fun! Have a safe trip and be sure to post pictures as soon as you get back. ;) Give Peaches a kiss for me!
21. Awww, Carol, I hope you have a wonderful birthday. Doing laundry and vacuuming sure sounds like a par-tay. Heh! Tell your pooches that they have to give you an extra birthday smooch for me. Nothing says happy birthday better than a wet kiss from one of your dogs, does it?
22. Happy birthday Chelsea. You don't look a day over one.
23. Happy birthday, Jesse! I hope you have a good day and that your mommy gets you some thing delicious. ;) I think that this calls for some new pics of Jesse. In your sig. picture, he is simply gorgeous. I would love to see more, if you can manage it. =)
24. LOL, That is so cute. All of the dogs look like they are having so much fun and they are all so gorgeous. :loveu: I'm glad you guys had fun. If I were closer, I would love to come and join you! Bailey'smom, you should get your son to come and chat with us here. I'm know we would enjoy his company and I think he would like us too. :)
25.
Mutt Lady Justin is 5'9" :) we are the exact same height
Cool. So I guess you two are perfect for kissing level then. I was talking to Kevin about this and he said, "Nooo. I'm 5ft8, almost 5ft9." He is geniunely offended that I didn't know his height. I told him I figured he was shrinking in his "old age" (he's one year older than me), Heh. He also brought up that I dated a guy who was 6'9" in high school...(we were just out of high school sweethearts LOL) This guy was on the basketball team and when he went to the doctor, he said he was still growing! :o I wonder if he is playing for the NBA. I'm not a basketball fan.
