No Dante Hall 8) he was a recent rescue, I didn't know they had him until he came over the fence
-
Well I've been walking Dante everyday & his owners allowed me to let him in thier basement afterwards. So now Dante isn't roaming my backyard. He's a great dog though. Dante was a rescue from a shelter & he was almost put down cause of his breed. :( But my negihbor has had APBT's before, and came to the rescue of Dante, who's pervious name was Satan :o Dante is named after A football player :) Sorry, boreing ya'll with this stuff :P

Our neighbor has a beautifull pit, Dante. He's well trained & well socialized, and just loves to jump my back fence & come visting, I don't mind, but I'm not sure on how to get him to stop, I've told the owners, and they work all day, and leave him in the backyard. Well he must get bored back there, and they don't want to tie him up. I was thinking about offering to dog-sit Dante, but not 100% sure cause of Sassy. They've played togther twice, but Dante's owner was present as well as me. I'm just wondering what to do. I like Dante alot, he's a great embasador of the APBT :kciuki: :) 8)

Sassy made a friend unexpectedly. Our neighbors APBT decided to jump our fence, and hang out for a while.. Sassy fell in love with Dante, they chased each other all over the yard, played in the kiddie pool I have for Sassy, and just hung out. I called the negihbors, but they where at work, so I had Dante for the afternoon. He's now home :D But Sassy was so happy to play. I want to borrow Dante again soon

Vet trip went well, except for the Kitty incedent   Our vet has a big office cat, Sasha, well Sassy is cat crazy(Bad Way) so she wanted to get Sasha. Well Sasha had other ideas, as soon as Sassy was within a few feet of that cat, she pounced on Sassy, scareing the daylights out of her. I was just dieing of laughter, her face was like : "OMG! They Fight Back"!!!! When we left Sassy made a wide circle around the cat

She's something else, and she's actually a strong swimer. She liked swiming after the geese, but they kept fooling her :p she didn't know they could fly. She came back happy, but very water logged, and muddy!! Thank God for a pick-up truck & towels   We've got her on a prong collar now, make her easier to control, and stoped her from chaseing ever squirell in a 25 ft radis :-?

Today I wore her out big time. We went to the lake, and she went swiming, which I had no idea she'd like. 8) Looks like Sassy found a new sport to keep her busy. And we fetched for awhile, until I wore out & put the ball up. She is more responsive since we started private classes with a trainer exspreinced in Agression problems. Tomorrow I take Sassy back to the vet for a check-up, we'll see how much progress we've made
-
Hey everybody, today was a good day, we went to private training classes. And Sassy acted wonderfull, no aggersion at all towards the trainer, or her dog. She wanted to play with the other dog after training, but I thought better of it until we get her better in the obedience. She's doing a lot of sits & downs. And she doesn't get anything without doing a comand. So far so good, but still a long road

:o Please everyone calm down. True a Pei was orignally a fighting dog from China, but it has been bred out of them down the years. But as the breed standered say's: Regal, alert, intelligent, dignified, lordly, scowling, sober and snobbish essentially independent and somewhat standoffish with strangers, but extreme in his devotion to his family. The Shar-Pei stands firmly on the ground with a calm, confident stature. I love Pei's & I have respect of Pits, so lets not get heated about the 2 breeds. Both have their good & bad points.
-
Sassy has a bit of a complex as i call it, she puts on agressive front, but her tail is tucked, so I think she has a bit of a fear agression problem, which the trainer picked up on. Sassy is food driven, anything for food, The trainer knows that, and has been useing food to get her to warm up. But she's still stand-offish. I love this dog though, I mean, yea I'm mad at her, but I still care for her, the little Pei Brat. I'll keep everyone updated on what's up with her.

She was a shelter rescue. SHe was the only pup from the litter. She was 7 weeks old when I brought her home

Sassy is doing a bit better , but she still has this bit of an additude towards everyone. Our neighbor has agreed to let Sassy meet his well soicalized Golden, Jake. Under strict supervison, and both leashed. He knows the trouble I've been haveing with her, & he gave me a # to a behaviorist. I'm going to give her a chance to prove to me that she's trustworthy. 2pm is my vet apointment. Wish me & Sassy luck.
-
The vet found nothing medically wrong with her. She's never been that friendly with the trainer, but this is the first time she's ever reacted like that. Tomorrow we go back to the vet for blood work. If that doesn't uncover anything then we go to specialists, but it's going to be extremely hard to pay for. She's just a differant dog after she attacked Pepper, it's like she "ON" all the time, she doesn't rest or sleep much. I'm really worried
-
Thank for all your support from everyone. Sassy is on meds to settle down her aggersion. When we took her to the trainer, she lunged at her, snarling and bareing her teeth. Looks like we have some serious issues with Sassy now. We're going to try & see if we can work them out. The trainer suggests we get a prong collar for her :-? I want to do the gentle leader or Halti, which one would be best???

I want to use this drawing as my avatar I can't get it small enough :-?

  What a mess today has been. Sassy & Pepper where in their respective crates when i left for work, i came home, let them both out in the backyard. I kept hearing something that sounded funny. I turned around to see Sassy on top of Pepper just tearing her apart   By the time I got Sassy away, Pepper was allready to far gone, she died on the way to the Emergancy Vets. What did I do wrong??? Why did my sweet Sassy turn into a monster overnight. Last night & this morning they where fine togther. But as soon as they hit that backyard, Sassy went into a mode that scared me. Right now I don't know if I'm going to keep Sassy or not. It's just all to hard to figure out right now. I feel so guilty :( :(

Pepper is an evil child I swear. I'm trying to teach her "Quiet". Sassy will bark at a cat or something outside, and when I say "Quiet" she stops, well Pepper will bark for an hour straight, even after the thing is well out of site. We're also haveing some food aggersion problems. I eat first, then I feed Sassy, then Pepper gets her bowl, well Pepper doesn't want her's, so she snaps at Sassy for her dish. I tried seprateing them at meal times, with no luck. Pepper also messes in the crate  I seriously think Pepper might of been a Mill Puppy. She has no idea that a crate is to sleep in & not to go potty in. She'll just lie down on her mess, so I've got double clean up
-
Oh she got a time out in the crate for the bite, & we're working on socialization with her. She's still got a long way to go, but I can handle the work
-
Well Sassy met Pepper for the first time today, and it went a bit on the wild side  Sassy was a bit surprised when she saw another dog in her house. She did all the barking & growling to make you thinks she was going to rip little Pepper apart. Well Pepper walked right up to Sassy in the midsit of all the doggie cuseing, and bit her square on the butt. I never laughed so hard in my life. So now Sassy is ignoreing Pepper for the time being. And nurseing a wounded ego
-
I plan on posting in the paper about a found dog, and she'll be scanned tomorrow for a chip. But I seriously doubt someone cared about her. She acts like she's had little to no socializtion around people. And she's not potty trained. I'll give her the best I can give, and if she does have an owner, well I'll give her back to them. I just feel good about saveing her
-
All she had on was an old clothesline around her neck :x Baby didn't even have a proper collar. She's now sporting a pretty pink collar :) She's sleeping soundly in her crate we got her. I can't believe some on just tied her to the gas pump, what would've happened if she darted out in front of a car   I'm totaly in love with her. Even though she's scared of me a bit
-
Yes we're keeping her, I saw 4 or 5 people just drive off and not even pay attetion to her. I saw her right as I pulled up to the pump, I asked the clerk how long she'd been there, but he didn't know. She acted like it'd been all night, she was a bit cold & hungry. She's a sweet pup, but really timid. Until she gets a full vet check Sassy is being kept away. But I have such a big heart, and I couldn't just leave her there to get hit, or killed by some jerk.
-
Well I have another dog on short notice. I went to get some gas in my truck & I find a small black lab mix puppy tied to the gas pump. I waited for 3 hrs to see if someone was going to come back for her. Well no one came. So I took her with me. She's extremely shy, and she's get a full get check tomorrow. Right now I'm calling her Pepper, but that might change. Looks like a spayed female, about 3-4 months old. Looks like my kind heart got to me :)
-
Well we don't have alot of money, what would be something somewhat affordable, yet not break the bank & be good for her
