Did the vet drain the abscess?
Nope, just antibiotics. He said it would go down by itself in a week but if it didn't to come back. :-?
-
Took Zeb to the vet today. Turns out the sore on his lip is some kind of infection and it's a build up of puss. Ewww. They gave me some antibiotics to give him twice a day. The vet said that he should be fine but the lump might always be there because of scar tissue. I don't know why he is so prone to getting infections. Any little scrap, or poke gets infected. :-?
-
It's not squishy, it's hard like a cherry pit. I almost want to say it's puss filled but I'm not sure. It's not hurting Zeb so I'm not worried about him being in any pain or anything. I think it's bothering me more than it is him. I'm calling tomarrow to make an appointment for Saturday after I get off of work, I just hope the vet isn't too busy on Sat. :-?

Zebra has a big lump in his lip. I noticed it last night while playing fetch with him. Last night it was about as big as a cherry pit, but it's grown in size since last night and it's very noticable. :( Also he has no hair on the lump, almost like all the hair fell off. :-? I know he need to go to the vet to get it looked out but I don't get paid till next tuesday!! :x I want to take him to the vet on Saturday, I just hope the vet will hold my check till wensday. :-?

Yup I have to get thoes things out too. In the moring I wake up go the bathroom and then get the eye boogers out of Zebras eyes, I always say "Give me your eye balls!" and he puts his head in my hands.

It looks like a rat from hell. :o

I guess I'm now the family vet. :-? My mom came home yesturday from my Uncles and told me that his dog Eddie, was hurt. I can only assume that he was stung by something in the neck and it got infected. There is a wound about the size of my thumb. My uncle refuses to take him to the vet so I had to do the best I could to fix him up. I trimmed the hair where the wound is, cleaned it out with peroxide and put neosprorin on it. Thankfully I had some left over antibiotics (amoxiscilin (SP?) from when Zebra had an infection. So I gave Eddie one tonight and told my uncle to give him the pills twice a day. Uhh I HATE how my uncle treats his dog, the poor thing is out on a chain 24/7 and obviously he dosn't care about him enough to take him to a vet. I was so pissed that I told him that if it wasn't better by the weekend that I would pay for the damn vet trip myself. :x I hate family.

Oh lord, here we go again.

My fave thing about Zebra is that he is such a goof. He always manages to do something funny or cute that makes me laugh. Wether it be him jumping up and down when I get home or him sleeping on a toy, he always makes me laugh. Least Fave thing-His Dr.Jekell/Mr.Hyde personality. He can turn into a mean groweling dog in a split second. :(

My new doggie ...yes you heard me, MINE!!!

Woo Hoo! Congrats! I'm so happy/excited for you. I bet you can't wait till she gets home. About how old is she? (Or did I not see where you said her age?) -
Nothings more fun then taking your dog out and having him do his buisness, taking him back inside and 5 mins later find a "runaway" poop under your kitchen table. Yum! Nothin' says dinner like crap under the table! Alan something about the way you worded your post and my mind thinking of Powdered donut poo in a box just made me laugh. Ahhh but anyways I think that the poo turning white is because of the minerals or vitamins that the dog has in its body...but I could be wrong...and I usually am.

Yer all on crack. Shet mah mouth!

I feed Solid Gold. Good food, decent price, Zeb loves it, last for a month on one bag..Yup.

Don't tease the dog with food!!! We bought a pizza tonight and sometimes we give him the "bones" of the pizza. Well tonight I told everyone not to give him anything because he is becoming a little chubbers. Anyways I was putting the extra pizza on a plate and zeb was whinning and whinning for a peice so I was pretending to eat a peice off the plate. I guess my teasing him was too much and he jumps up and grabs the biggest peice and runs under the table and eats the entire thing in like 3 seconds. :o  My mom thought it was the funniest thing and she says "Well that's what you get for teasing him!". Oops. I guess I shoulda known better.
Actually, it is one of the first things that I thought of... in relation to a conversation Josh and I were having the other day about certain girls and dogs... and peanut butter etc, but lets NOT go there!!! :o
:o :o :o They were talking about that on the radio the other night....but yeah..lets not go there.
I always have droplets on the toilet seat.
Are you sure it's the dog leaving the dribbles??
Starfox, I agree with you wholeheartedly in theory, however it’s often easier said than done. My dogs have a great recall in a controlled environment.
I totally agree Mel, I don't think a dog will every be 100% at reacal all the time. I think all any dog owner can do it train, train, train and hope that when you call your dog they will come. Good advice on training the dog to sit before she can go out the door, didn't think of that. :)

Ok I stole this idea from Shara (Coalsky) when she was talking about how her dog drinks. So does your dog drink nicely? Sloppy? From a bottle like Xaviers dogs do? Zeb drinks super sloppy. He can rival any dog in a sloppy drininking contest. When we had him in training there was a HUGE mastiff that was drinking out of this tiny little bowl and got some water on the floor. Now little puppy Zebra starts to drink out of the same bowl and we needed a mop afterwards to clean up all the water that he spilled.

Desertlady- I've always trained on a 30+ft. leash. I put my dog in a sit stay and walk all the way to the end of the leash and yell in a happy voice "Zebra come!". If he dosn't come right away I give a little pull on the leah and that will bring him running towards me, I treat and paise and do it all over again. After he has mastered the sit-stay-come I will randomly walk around with him on the long leash and yell "Zebra come!", so he dosn't think that he only has to come when put in a sit-stay. Then you can try this with out the leash at an empty dog park or something and see how he does, gradually adding more distractions to your training. This will work 99% of the time, for the other 1% that it dosn't work I yell "car ride" and that will always get him to come. Also they have leashes in 50 and 100Ft I think so you could always try a real long leash and see how that works. Hope this helps. :D

Since she didn't respond to you calling her you probabaly need to start from square one with recall training, it really is the most important thing a dog should know and it isn't to hard for dogs to learn.

This is one of the reasons I stopped using the GL. If I put it on him like the instuctions said (and how the trainer showed me) it would rub his nose and cause some of his fur to come out. I also stopped using it because it was a pain in ther arse to get it on Zeb, he would always fight it. If you decide to loosen it just becareful because if you make it too loose they can slip out of it.

Zebra hates any form of water. Hates baths, the beach, rain, puddles. He won't go out when it rains and dog forbid there is a puddle on the gound and he has to walk over it, he will attempt to jump over it and if he can't then he "tippy toes" through it like a prissy little girl.

3!!!!! Zeb just turned 3 years old! It's hard to believe that I've had him for almost 3 years, it only seems like we got him a couple of months ago. I hate how times flies by so fast. :( Here is a pic taken about a month ago.
