1. Guys, the person wanted to know about the dog. This one got off topic in record time  I have seen the commercial and I think it's a border collie or a border collie mix.
2. Yeah and with the old threads, you get people responding to people who don't even post here anymore or only made a couple posts and ran off. It does get kind of confusing.
3. I have a request. First off, I think it's great that you joined and want to get involved with discussions, but could you try not to bring up old threads that have already been "finished"? Generally that means anything that isn't on page one of the section that you are in. Chances are that it was a big old "debating" thread and when those get brought back up, you new guys tend to get lost in the shuffle of the revived debate and don't get the welcome you deserve. Don't be afraid to start your own threads to talk about stuff. New threads are always more interesting than the old ones anyways. Also, go to the new members forum and introduce yourself so we can meet you. :D
4. Another member here ( though I can't remember who it is right now, maybe Pumkinthe musher?) taught thier dog to tell them that it wantedout by ringing a bell that was hanging on the door. I'm not sure how though.
5. TDG ( and whomever else), I too, frequent a lot of message boards. Most of them are "subculture" related and a lot more aggro than dogo is. Pretty much anything goes on those boards. (Wow, was that the understatement of the year. ) The manner in which that I conduct myself on Dogo is drastically different, including switching my name to something that is appropriate for this sort of forum. (If you switch the first vowel in my name you'll have it.) I read her posts inside and out and top to bottom before I commented. After I stopped shaking, I carefully, and ardously typed out my responses. ( Which I additionally ran by a couple people to see if I was out of line at all.) I kept any personal feelings I had about SRC from any other thread out of that discussion. I agree with what Kiwi wrote above in regards to the BYB bit, but didn't let it color any aspect of the posts I made in this thread. Like I already said, if it had been any other person posting it, my response would have been identical, "regular" or not. I inferred from what she had written that she indeed had seen the dog in the last couple of years. I perhaps got a bit heated in this discussion, but it IS a very heated topic. If I was out of line ( which I don't think I was) I certainly apologize. I do admit that I thought that someone who worked/works for a vet tossing out the sort of suggestions that she was, ummm kind of fishy. She says she "wasn't" going to do them, but looking at the "it's not too hard to crush up some pills and put them in dog food" line, I do think she was considering that as a viable option. :-? Drug overdoses such as that are not painless or quick. There were a lot of seeming inconsistancies in her posts regarding this whole situation. I don't know, perhaps she lacked the means to adequetly express things? I do everything I can for the animals in my area that I can. And I'm with HF in the "where there is a will there is a way". I really couldn't have said what she said in that paragraph and the one following it any better, so I won't even try. So if I came off harsh, sorry folks, but it is a harsh situation and upsets me terribly.
6. Rowie dear, calm down. Take a deeeeeeeeeeep breath. As far as I know this is a TOTAL joke. I definately get that feeling from it.
7. Sorry to hear about your loss. And BIG KUDOS for deciding to look on Petfinder for a pet in need. You my dear are an  .
8. Even though I don't have one now, I too have thougth about getting one of these when I get my next dog. I think the really important thing is to make sure you have control of your dog before even using it. Does your dog walk nicely on a leash or is it "out of control"? If it is out of control, I would NOT recommend it, it would be dangerous for both of you. If I remember correctly, the Springer does release if it gets tangled. I wouldn't want to risk my "wild" dog getting loose and running into traffic. I'd start off by making sure that my dog had perfect control on the leash as well as off. I would not use it if my dog was a puller, even though the spring is supposed to absorb the shock. I would also get the dog desensitized to the bike and the device itself. Both of those things can be kind of scary since they aren't normal stuff. But yeah, if you have control over your dog, I'd say at least give it a try. I'm going to.
9. Yay BK, :bday: you old conniver you. ( Shame on you for duping the vet there old man.)
10. Thank doG this situation is going to cleared up. That poor suffering dog.
11. Queen Bitch

Silver labs....?

I agree, odd colors, do pop up, but this kennel is trying to cash in on the "rare" factor. Which isn't right at all. Any sort or lab isn't rare. It's the same thing as the "white" Dobie. I think they look like fat, bulky weims too.
12. Hey SRChik, my reply to this is in a far more appropriate place. http://forum.dogomania.com/viewtopic.php?p=144525#144525 Sorry dogo'ers. But yes, chocolate.......yum. Neubauer would have to be the best chocolate out there. Editted to keep things ,er, a bit cleaner.
13. People feeding trolls on a budget? :drinking:
14. Are you sure DP? I could have sworn it was Xbrand(tm) Trollchow. And I know for a FACT that brand is only sold in K's area. Though maybe it was Molson brand Trollchow, and I know that is only sold in Canada.
15. I too was attacked when I was younger, so I can sympathize. I recently met several Spinoni. Oh my lord are they sweet! They have such soulful, almost human eyes. They also aren't too common here in the US. ( I'm assuming that is where you are? My bad if it's not.) The likelyhood of them being bad tempered substandard dogs is relatively low. That being said, the best way to find out is, as already stated, is to meet with your neighbor and express your concerns. Just remember, no child should be left alone with any dog, for the safety of both of them. Those kids can be vicious!
16. I think it was you K. It was xbrand Trollchow (tm) wasn't it? :evilbat:
17. It has never been a personal attack. I have not been trying to start arguements. I am not following you from post to post. In fact, someone else told me about this thread, I virtually never read the posts in this section. If this post had been made by any other member my response would have been identical. No, as a matter of fact, I don't think my opinion is the only one that is correct. Just because I choose to speak up, doesn't mean I have any sort of "I'm right, everyone else is wrong" attitude. I came to this forum to learn and lend my help as I could. I don't take that to any sort of extreme. I don't bandy personal insults about. I will, on the other hand, speak up when I feel I need to regardless of what popular opinion may be. I do that in real life, so why wouldn't I carry that on to the internet? What is extreme, though,is the ghastly state this dog is in. I don't begrudge your aunt for having "nice things". However, if she can afford nice things, she can afford to care for her dog. Period, no excuses. No ifs ands or buts. NONE. I realize that for the most part, euthanasia for humans is not allowed, but comparing people to dogs in such a manner is ridiculous. It IS legal to euthanize an animal and far less cruel than allowing an animal to sit around in its own waste in the elements, rotting from the inside out most likely. Not ending an animal's suffering because you(used hypothetically) are too attached and attributing human qualities to them is wrong. They aren't little people in fursuits, they are animals, they trust you to take care of them. When you get a pet, you make a commitment to care for them for life and to be realistic sometimes that means ending it. Sad, but true. It may not be your dog, but if you really do care about it, it is your responsibilty as a human "adult" ( and family member)to help it. You have accused us of being closed minded and in way you are right. We are certainly close minded as far as animal abuse is concerned. It is 100% intolerable, no matter what form it takes. You come here and tell us about a dog that is suffering horribly and shoot down virtually every suggestion we offer. Did you not expect a bunch of dog lovers to get up in arms and passionate over this? We can't do anything about this situation, which lends a certain bit of fuel to the fire, but you can. It sickens me to to read about this abuse and to hear that nothing has been done for this dog in YEARS and I'm sure that I can safely claim that on everyone here's behalf. You said that if she were your dog you would have put her down after her bladder failed YEARS ago. Why the heck didn't you try to help her before it got this out of hand? Once again, find a way to put this dog humanely out of her misery! Beg, plead, cajole, threaten, do whatever it takes. If your friend's don't care about the dog, don't they care that it is something that is important to you? Give them gas money, buy them lunch and pay for them to have their car cleaned, or better yet, have your aunt do it. Stop this abuse!
18. Hey Sexxie, did you read the rules to this forum at all? Here is a refresher:http://forum.dogomania.com/viewtopic.php?t=4820 Pay special attention to this one: 5) We don’t have spell check in this group and we have not assigned anyone to the task. Insulting another member because of spelling or grammar is not going to be allowed. We have members that translate into English as best they can. We also have children/young adults here who are still learning how to spell. Be considerate of this. I have seen you make spelling mistakes, and nobody has taken you to task for it. Perhaps you should extend the same courtesy? But I agree, arguing politics is kind of silly on a dog board. :-?
19.
My aunt has a elderly cocker spaniel, probably about 15 yrs old or so) and the dog is in POOR shape. She has gone blind and deaf and has been kept outside for several years now because of her loss of bladder/bowel control. My aunt is a very nice and loving person. And loves animals almost as much as I do. Well that must not be a whole lot then. I'd hate to see what she'd do to something she didn't like. I am pretty sure if you love something you don't abuse it. What happens when your aunt gets old and loses her bladder control? Are you going to chain HER to a tree and make her sit in her own filth day in and day out? But she has let this poor dog's condition get WAY out of hand. I would take her and do it myself but as of current my car is still in the shop from a wreck I had and I couldn't drive it if I had it. The dog smells so bad even putting her in a crate wouldn't really work..it would make you throw up if confined in a car with her. I mean its BAD. Get over your own selfish squimishness. Hang your head out the window and puke on the side of the road if need be. YOU would only have to suffer for an hour or so, what about this poor dog, suffering every minute of it's pitiful life? And the closest vet to my aunt is about 50 miles away..that's a long way to drive with a dog that smells putrid and it's too cold to ride with the windows down. So it's too cold to ride with the windows down, but not too cold to have the poor, sick dog outside 24/7? Somehow that doesn't make sense. No one will uthanize the dog the old fashion way (bullet) and I sure couldn't shoot her. So my question is...How can I humanely put her down..and be sure it will work and not cause her further pain/suffering? I have thought about giving her a bunch of Tylonol Pm's crushed and put into canned dog food. Isn't tylonol poisonous to dogs? I figure the pm ones would make her go to sleep, and she is in such bad shape that the drug itself would end her life. This can't wait much longer...I don't think she's to the point of dying.. You are right she isn't to the point of dying. She IS dying, slowly and painfully and unloved, simply because she aged as ALL living creatures do. but it's just plain sad to know this dog is suffering like this. Yes it IS sad. And it's even more sad that a bunch of people on the internet care more about what happens to this dog than her "caretaker" ( and boy do I use that term lightly). At one point my aunt said she was bleeding out her rectum, but that has since subsided. I know what you must be thinking of my aunt at this point..but please don't call her foul names and such..because that is just not right Well you know what? It's "just not right' to allow this sort of situation to occur in the first place. You brought this whole situation up on a public message board, If you didn't want us to comment badly, you shouldn't have given us the material. because she is not here to defend herself and I certainly do not want anyone talking bad about her. I'll tell you what's not right: The fact that she is abusing her dog by allowing her to suffer so horribly. Who is defending that poor animal? I know she should/could have handled this better but the fact is she didn't and now it needs to be dealt with in the best way possible. I just need some honest answers or advice on how to do this properly. and honest answers you shall recieve. My aunt can't handle being in the car she starts to gag. I'm sickened and gagging thinking about how cruel this whole situation is. You gag just standing 10 ft from her. So smear some vics vaporub( you know like cops do when they have to deal with dead bodies) under your nose and buck up and do the right thing. Quiet whining about the smell and figure something out. If you don't have any friends, what about talking to the vet you used to work for to see of he will go on a mercy mission? Plus I'm telling you..she smell's worse then anything you've EVER smelled before in your life. I doubt it. I'm trying to talk my aunt into it...but trying to talk someone who drives a brand new caddillac into putting a dog that smells like this one into her car is a battle I've been fighting for 2 weeks now. So she can afford to drive a brand new Cadillac but cannot properly care for her dog? WTF? If she has that much money, she can afford to have a vet come out and humanely end her dog's life. And probably bribe him for not turning her in for animal abuse. Or have the damn car cleaned out after the drive. I didn't know the dog had gotten SO bad. My grandmother has been staying ther after falling and breaking her hip...and I went up and while there saw the dog thru the window...it broke my heart. I am afraid of it going wrong Going? It's already long gone wrong. that's why I asked...I really just don't know what to do....my hands are almost tied as to what I can do about it. Whoever would throw an animal in a lake to drown is horrible... whoever would let an animal suffer such as this dog has been is worse. it takes about 2 minutes to drown..what a horribe way to die. 2 minutes of pain is making you sad? What about the the days/weeks/months/years that this dog has gone through?
Get this dog to a vet or a vet to her, by any means neccessary right now. Don't condone her being abused any longer. That is the only humane solution. Don't give her a drug overdose, they aren't as painfree and quick as you think. Tell your aunt that you'll report her for animal abuse if she doesn't take her in right now. Maybe that will get her a$$ in gear. I doubt it, but since she does not give a whit about her dog's welfare, maybe she'll act when her own is threatened.
20. Once again, I am terribly sorry Ickle.

Rosie

My sympathies to you both, Roo and Ickle.
22. Thanks Crested, cute pic!
23. Another important question. Does your car have airbags in the front? With the amount of pressure that an airbag puts out, it would probably do some damage to at least the crate.
24. You do realize that dogs gain weight after altering due to a change in their metabolism? A simple adjustment in diet and execercise usually corrects that problem. But yes, thanks for answering my questions.
25. I have a few questions for you racerchick. This is not an attack, so don't take it as one. I noticed on your site that you said Morgan was a bad mother. Why then, would you continue to breed her? ( You said she had 5 litters.) What criteria do you use to select your breeding stock? Do you screen for health problems before you breed? At what age do you breed your bitches? All the Dobie breeders I have ever known of have cropped the pups ears BEFORE they go to their new homes to ensure that it is done correctly and that the ears are tended to properly while they heal, even if that means that the pups are there a little bit longer than other breeds would be. What age do you let you your puppies go? Do you just let people pick their own pups or do ask the prospective owner what they want out of their dog ( Mellow, outgoing, etc) and then evaluate the pups disposition and then match pup to owner that way? I am glad that you have a contract and seem to be careful of who you place pups with though. Do you also write a spay/neuter clause in as well so those people don't go off to breed and add to the shelter dog/rescue population?
