I would say give him time to give an explanation, but he has already had a very long time to do just that and hasn't.

I'm not one to keep my feeling secret as many of you know. If I will say something privately, I will say it publicly. There are far too many coincidences for my liking. Though I may have defended RnP in the past, too many things don't add up. In addition to coming off, well, however he comes off, he is giving the rest of Dogo an extremely bad name on other dog forums, and I for one don't appreciate my good name and the name of my main forum being dragged through the mud due to the actions of a few.. We have a dam good forum that is being the subject of ridicule right now because of this one members actions or inactions if he is in fact, innocent ( Though every shred of evidence from speculation to things he has posted himself ( here and elsewhere) says otherwise). Though I think the initial defense of one of our members is a good thing, that member isn't doing ANYTHING to justify it. It takes what, requests from at least 5 people for banning? Consider this my vote, I say ban.

I've been seeing commercials for it for a while and though I will be working, I am most certainly recording it.

I read a book on positive dog training( clicker training) and the woman who wrote it suggested not treating everytime the dog does something right after it has the command mastered. Instead she suggests random rewarding so the dog never knows if this is the time that it will get one treat, no treats or a huge jackpot of treats ( praise toys etc.) so it will do the command the same as if it were going to get one. As in do it once every other time and then work it up to once every 5 times , etc etc till you pretty have the treats phased out and its just praise based. Of course there are several other people on this forum who have actually used clicker training and can give you some expierence based advice, but in theory , it sounds like the advice I posted would be logical. :wink:

There is a breed called a Finnish Spitz, and the dog that generally gets called a Spitz and at one time was actually called the Spitz is the American Eskimo dog. Maybe you could do a search for those?

Or you could try a martingale style collar, they function similar to choke chains but they have a cetain point where they stop so that they CAN"T actually choke the dog. They were made originally for Greyhounds and other narrow headed dogs that tended to back out of regular collars. They come in all nylon, all chain, all leather, or combos of the previous.

I don't see anything that says she isn't going to breed her dogs anymore. I read that she didn't want to go through the headache of raising a puppy again, not a thing about not breeding anymore. SRC as HF said, I don't know if many rescues would adopt to you because you are a BYB ( and your dogs are currently living in kennels outside) which is the reason that so many dogs end up in rescue in the first place. NEVER repeat the command Abker, it teaches her that she doesn't have to obey it the first time, or 2nd or 3rd etc. Instead when she finally does get around to laying down go crazy, "GOOD DOWN!!!" and treat/praise. If she sees you getting that excited about it, she will be more excited/faster about doing it.

I saw nothing that said that you were done with puppies and I looked all over that dog page, quite the opposite in fact, what I read was that this recent breeding of Smiley didn't take and that you were going to try again next time. How exactly, just out of curiousity, does that equal done with puppies?

I think Laurel may get away with more than Alex did because she reads dogs better due to her pack upbringing. She is a bit more "dogwise" than the average dog. :wink:

You could teach him to beg without using your legs as support. I taught my Dal gal to do that when I was a kid, it was super cute, especially when our gangly, uncoordinated 9 month old male tried to immitate her. Other tricks: the Police search. Have him put his front paws up against the wall so you can "search him". Roll over. Dance , while standing on his back legs. I think Sizzle will know some more too.

I've heard of something called Springer rage syndrome which is thought to be some sort of seizure of sorts that causes a normally placid happy go lucky dog to attack whatever is closest for a few soconds and then go back to its tailwagging self. I don't know too much more about it though. Perhaps Ellieangel could help out with that info since she is a springer person? ( and sorry Z to bring up that aspect of your breed :oops:, but I thought Aroura should get a whole picture type of view, which of course includes negatives.)

I used to get told ( and imagine I will again soon once I get my pup) what was wrong with my male Dalmatians or what they were mixed with since they were liver spotted Dals and "everybody knows" that Dalmatians only have black spots. Oh and PBLove, you don't have to censor your posts here unless they are REALLY bad words. :wink: You can use all the proper terms for some (including some slang as long as it isn't too bad) and people named Dick can be referred to as well. :lol:

SRC- I have been biting my figurative tongue for a while now ,but, sorry, I'm not going to do it anymore. You have made some good replies but I think your attempts to speak for the board as a whole are not a good idea. If you're not, sorry, but it SEEMS as if you are. We are all individuals and can speak for ourselves. It's nice to have support, but you don't have to fight other people's battles for them. Which seems to be exactly what you are doing. Many of the posts in this thread are in response to what you have posted and not so much the original topic. In my opinion that is drama and despite your claim that you hate those who cause drama, you certainly don't do much to defuse it or not feed into it. Just because something similar has happened to you ( and this goes for all the controversial threads as of late) doesn't mean you need to bring it up in every other post. Long story short, they aren't about you so maybe it's better if you just leave it out, it's not relevant.
