Ah, if I ever need to get you guys gifts I know what they'll be - covered trashcans.
-
Is there any game or activity, aside from belly rubs, that he likes?
-
I found another trick to get Kavik to eat. You know how you can get dogs to drop a toy and retrieve by giving them a treat when they come back? Well I make Kavik eat a mouthful of food before I will let him go fetch. My dogs are so the opposite of each other. Work/play is all that matters to Kavik. Food/snuggles is all that matters to Zaphod.

Lets see: - didn't realize how small a puppy was - had to patch the fence - left blanket in crate - had to replace blanket - left purse on crate - had to replace purse - left tv remote out during early housetraining - had to replace remote - left meadmug on rikety table with excitable puppy around - have no mug - didn't realize puppies would eat rocks - had to redo yard - taught kavik to say "please" (shake a paw) - am constantly pawed - left collar too loose - neighbour caught dog within seconds - didn't socialize Kavik enough, early enough - had to work hard later That's all I can think of right now but there is likely more.

I just finished up.

Interesting, question though, why don't my boys throw it up?
-
That might work, I'll have to try that.
Wonder if they'll return the dogs they snatched out of homes?
Those dogs are likely already dead. What the hell is the point now?!?

Ah yes the cats, now my cats go out, eat grass, wait 3 1/2 minutes, puke twice, then roll in the dirt somewhere else, lounge in the sun for an hour and then come in off their leash - regular as clockwork. Weird - especially the always puking twice thing.
-
You are right, of course. I'll use it as needed, besides Zaphod likes it as he usually gets a mouthful or two of kibble out of the deal. Kavik almost never walks away from the homemade stuff - picky little fuzzbutt.
-
Kavik is not much of an eater, in fact he appears to be content to go a day or two without eating sometimes. I put his food out, he looks at it and walks away. I usually put the bowl up till his next feeding and offer it again. Zaphod is always eyeing Kavik's food. If I offer Zaphod Kavik's food, Kavik comes tearing over defending HIS food, then he eats it. I'm not sure how great a method this is because of food aggression but I can still take his food away anytime.

This story made me MAD!!!
DogPaddle replied to CincoandDahlilasgirl's topic in Everything about dogs
Report them - dog fighting is illegal and allowing a puppy to be savaged by another dog is abuse. Unless you have a uselees AC you might be able to get them to do something. -
There are times when I feel like I am walking a cow. They eat the grass as they walk along sometimes - its a constant grazing walk. Mine usually don't throw it up though. I have to be very careful about pesticided lawns.

That IS a good storey, although I can see how it wouldn't be funny at the time. I will have to remember that phrase "trolling for wolves" too.
ok then. If she really doesnt like, and wants to get rid of, the dog in the first place, is it in the dogs best interest to stay with her? If she has said before she doesnt want Zoey, why would anyone argue her point to give Zoey to Justin's parents, who apparently will care for Zoey and hold her until Justins return?
That's what I think, thanks Court.

Good to hear that otherwise he is in good health. Sorry to hear about your pups hernia, looking for the bright side - at least you'll have time to save up for the surgery and then if he doesn't need it you'll have some extra money.

I have seriously considered a muzzle just to stop Zaphod from eating stuff. It's not so bad when I walk him alone on a 6ft leed but if I have both boys out or take them too the beach or to my aunt's farm or my freinds big yard it gets soooo hard to stay on him all the time. I have also considered taking him to a trainer around here who does "poison-proofing" training for your dog - basically you train them not to eat ANYTHING unless you give it to them or unless you give them a paticular command.

Congrats on your new puppy. I hope everything goes well at the vets. With an average shitzhu being between 8-11 inches and 9-16 lbs, and you saying the mom and dad are on the small side I would just guess he would fall on the smaller half of average - Maybe 8-10 inches and 9-13lbs?
A road sign will not hold an eight dog team, trust me...
I sense a funny storey . . .

I know this is serious but you got me laughing with this:
There is no food out here - therefore you should not be eating anything!
Because I have thought this so many times. Zaphod is always willing to try eating something outside. I hope the next test is normal and its just a little hiccup. I will be wishing good things for you both.

Pooh Bear has to go back to the vet today :(
DogPaddle replied to JackieMaya's topic in Everything about dogs
Poor Pooh Bear - sounds like he was eager for recovery and pushed a little hard yesterday. I'm sure its just a temp. setback, good luck at the vets. -
That is a shame, thanks again for the info though.
-
Thanks Other issues aside, I think it would be decent of them to leave the house as is until he gets back and then give him 30 days to clear out - unless of course there is a huge demand for this type of housing.

I have seen the comercials only. The plot seemed a little bit juvenile or maybe simplistically overdone or something, however, Jet Li is interesting to watch. I think I'll rent that one instead of seeing it in theatres. As for the human pit bull thing . . . maybe, might, possibly do some good - people might think twice about the pit fighting issue but I doubt it.

Do you celebrate his 1/4erly birthdays too? Oh well, any reason for a happy day is good I suppose. Happy Birthday! :bday:
