CC, I'm so sorry. I didn't even get to say congrats and now this. :( When my mom refuses to listen to me (stubborn aren't they?) I put all my thoughts down on paper and then show her. Then she can see my side of the story. Maybe you could try that with your mom? And the whole missing the bus thing.. that's so freaky! It happened to me on Sunday. I was late to school and my mom FREAKED OUT on me. She seriously FREAKED OUT. Urghh, she went ballistic and was yelling and screaming and its like.. I was late to school [i]ONCE[/i]! And I just needed to get out of the house, and I was THIS CLOSE to skipping school. I just couldn't stand it. But I managed to cool down, plus Monday was mothers day in this part of the world so we managed to forgive each other.. So I know what you mean. Maybe you can blow off some steam at the HS?? Or just go watch a movie or something.. just get some fresh air! :wink:

Just made the HUGE mistake of listening to it with the sound on. I'm not going to sleep tonight.

Why would you do that? [b]Why?[/b] I watched the video clip. Its disgusting, the lack of concern the soldier showed while shooting the dog was sickening. It was like the dog was a tyre he was shooting at or something. No sympathy at all. I muted it, I knew if I heard the dog yelp I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.. That image does degrade soldiers out there risking their lives to bring peace to Iraq.. it also concerns me that if this is what they'd do to a mere dog, how do they treat Iraqi citizens, Iraqi children? :-? Also, aren't they just wasting bullets shooting at dogs? There should be stricter rules regarding this.

OMG, I'm so sorry. :( When your feeling better maybe you could check a Great Dane rescue for a deaf adult? Its very hard for them to get adopted and since you were ready to take on the responsibility of a deaf dog I'm sure you can adopt an adult and save a life! :D Sound like a good idea?

You make a good point, Matty. But remember, whatever happens you will end up with a purebred. Carolina Dogs, for example. They weren't bred by humans, but eventually turned into a breed in the swamps of Carolina. Not all of them look the same, but I think their genetics are the same. Dogs that live in cold climates will develop shaggy coats. Dogs that live in deserts will develop long legs. And if all the purebreds in the world were let loose to breed than in a couple of thousand years your going to end up with one breed of dog. Survival of the fittest. I don't think you should be against the idea of PEDIGREES, but people breeding them. For instance, Salukis. I read an article about how all the Salukis now found in Canada only originated from about 5 brought to Canada in the 1960s. So thats caused a lot of genetic problems in what was a once healthy breed. To try and save the breed, they introduced new blood from [b]the same breed[/b] all the way from Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Iraq, Qatar, and Bahrain. The dogs weren't the Western version of the breed, and so looked different. They were what the Saluki looked like before being introduced to the western civilization. Still, they helped save a lot of bloodlines. So instead of saying all breeders are wrong (which isn't fair at all, these people dedicate their LIVES to their dogs) maybe you could say that the concept of showing is wrong? Like the emphasis on dogs beauty instead of its working ability, health.. And to ENCOURAGE all those DISGUSTING Poo breeders is just WRONG, sorry. These people, "doing the dogs a favour" are doing it unintentionally. You actually think they sat down and thought "Hey, lets improve dogs health!" and started breeding the Poo breeds for +$1000? Nope, its a cruel world out there and there are cruel people who may want you to think it. Anyways, aren't they breeding purebreds? I mean, they call their Poo breeds purebreds. Why aren't you saying their genetically unstable? They will be in a few years! So I guess the point of my long, long post is this. Whatever happens you'll end up with a purebred thats developed to survive in its habitat. People breeding their dogs aren't wrong, dog shows could be. And Poo breeders are wrong in my eyes, no matter what anyone tells me. Nice topic. :wink:

Nae Nae, I don't care if your only 15, or it was a mistake or whatever. Those are all details, the real question is [b]WHY did you get a dog in the FIRST place?[/b] You said it yourself, you can't really afford a dog, and if your mom says shelter.. shelter it is. SO WHY DID YOU GET A DOG? :o You [i]knew[/i] you couldn't take care of one. And even after several failures, you STILL got another dog. What about the oooh, I don't know, Rottie, GSD, Cookie #1 and now Cookie #2 (or..Lucky?). After ALL THOSE DOGS you didn't GET that you shouldn't be owning another one? And another thing. You complain that kids in your neighbourhood don't take good care of dogs and that compared to them your really great. Yeah, that's great, really it is and its great that you like dogs and all that jazz. But you know, a guy can like, beat up his wife and say its okay because the guy next door srapes other women. I mean, what he's doing is much better, right? ITS STILL WRONG. That's no excuse. Sorry if I sounded harsh, but dogs are one of my biggest loves in life and I can't stand ignorance like this..
