No problem & glad to help!! I'm sorry if I came off as rude to you but I am very passionate about the breed. As is just about every APBT owner I know. Debby

This is a good site to learn more about Pit Bulls, http://www.realpitbull.com/ Here's another, http://www.badrap.org/rescue/index.cfm These dogs may be more work than your average canine but they are sooo worth every bit of extra trouble. Debby
-
Oops, I see that you did read them, good for you. We are not trying to be rude, just trying to let you know that it really is not a good idea. You can socialize your dog with others ON LEASH just about any where you want. Just be aware of her body language. At least on leash you have some sort of control over your dog. Debby

Did you read any of the links provided for you? I didn't see where any one called you any names. You really need to read up on the breed some more. The people who are posting to you & the people who wrote these articles KNOW what they are talking about. Whether or not you have had problems now is not the point. The point is why take the chance??? You have already had one problem, what is going to happen if another dog attacks yours & she kills it? She may not start the fight but she WILL end it. Do you at least carry a breack stick to the park with you? Debby
And for all of you that think I am being irresponsible and ignorant for teaching my dog....I'd like to know how you all of a sudden became the pit bull experts....Sasha..that question is all yours to answer Uh, the fact that I have been a pit bull owner for 46 years. Oh & I do not consider myself to be an expert, just a very experienced & responsible owner Debby
Here is one of many many articles you will find about pit bulls & dog parks. http://www.badrap.org/rescue/dogpark.cfm Your dog may be friendly to other dogs now but what if that changes? What if she meets another dog that she doesn't like? Have you ever heard the saying "Never trust a pit bull not to fight"? It is NO joke. Why take the chance not only with YOUR dog but with everyone elses? You can socialize your dog all you want ON LEASH where you can better control the situation Debby
SO I don't know where you guys are getting this "she's rude" and "if she's biting" nonsense..I simply stated that I take my dog to offleash parks to teach her how to behave properly..and its working just fine...
Today, what about tomorrow? How old is she? You will NEVER find a responsible pit bull owner in a dog park. If you don't think slamming another dog to the ground is not the start of a dog fight, you are very wrong. Is this your first pit bull? How well aquainted with the breed are you? Debby

Never heard of them but then again with all the new "designer breeds" showing up lately, who knows. I was talking to an eBay seller who has a Corgidor. Corgi (not sure which one) & Lab mix. :o Debby

Between the time that I posted & pLaurent posted 7 more of those RARE Dalamtions showed up on Petfinder. Weird huh??? Debby
Amazingly, this onslaught of negative publicity worked to the benefit of dalmatians. Registrations which had been horribly inflated, plummeted. There used to be dalmatians at every shelter. They are becoming much, much rarer.
Really?? Then how did ALL those Dal's wind up in shelters shortley after the movie??? Right now, on Petfinder alone there are 1227. Rare?? Think not.
told you that I would be happy if you criticized my breed(s), but I am not going tell you what breed(s) I have (partly) because you are so obviously salivating at the chance to do so not because you want to tell the truth, but because you perceive that it would somehow hurt my feelings.
That is too funny!! Believe me, NOTHING about you makes me salivate!! I am just curious as to WHY you feel the constant need to critisize pit bulls & pit bull owners. If there are bad downsides to ALL breeds, why don't you turn your attention to THEM???
It isn't so, but I like to encourage people to tell the truth. If you just tell the truth about ALL breeds, and you happen to criticize one of mine, believe me I'll be happy to read it. So just tell the truth, and forget about trying to insult people by criticizing their breeds and you will best protect dogs. Fair enough?
I'm a little confused here, are you calling me a liar???? Point out just were it is that I lied. Show me, I'm curious, really I am. If you like to encourage people to tell the truth, why don't YOU try doing it??? Tell us the truth about YOUR breeds. What are the down sides of owning them? You seem to know the down sides of pit bull ownership & have no problems spouting them off in every thread. Be honest here, what breeds are your dogs? Debby

I think Pit Bull means "fart" in some obscure language! I have one dog that will fart & leave the room., she's not a pit bull though, she's a spitz\pom. Debby
I'm guessing this comes from something you have discussed with Primrose on another forum? Because it doesn't make any sense
When referring to her breed, Primrose calls them Wombats. Debby
-
I have no help to offer you but I think it is GREAT what you & your fellow board members are doing & I wish you great success with it! Debby
-
And I'm sure the pit bull owners (or Pit bull Pep Squad, as you so charmingly call us)here would be interested in your statement "The majority of people think pit bull owners are sociopathic losers
Oh yes, I am VERY interested in that statement!! So , you think that because you are NOT a pit bull owner you somehow think that you are "better" or possibly of a higher class than those of us who are?? I can assure you Primmy, that is NOT the case. Oh and just to let you know, there is no such thing as "murder" in the animal world. Debby
If they wanted to show a "high energy bar", why not use a Border Collie doing agility? Or a Foxhound chasing Fox? That takes a h*** of a lot more energy than standing there snarling at someone.
So true!! Right now one of my "high energy" dogs is using ALL of his energy to keep my bed from flying around the room & the other is using ALL of hers to make sure no crumbs from my daughters sandwich hit the floor. Debby

Primrose, unless you are willing to tell us what breed of dog you own, do not down any other breeds. If you are not up for the scrutiny, don't dish it out. And please, do not insult the intelligence of the members of this board by saying "we would all know who you are" if you reveal the breed like you have clamined on Patty's. Personally, I don't giva a d*** who you are and I doubt any one else here does either. It is obvious to all of us that you have never met a pitbull OR a breeder. Debby
Hey, Debby, I am not interested in telling you what breed(s) I own, sorry about that. While I certainly take you at your word that you aren't interested in knowing who I am, other people demonstrably are. (To the extent of offering a cash reward, as I mentioned before, but don't get all excited since it was a pretty chintzy one) And (as you have demonstrated by your reference to Patty's) the internet is kind of a seamless web, so even in the unlikely event that even the known dogfighters who hang out here on this board couldn't care less who I am, if my identity were revealed here, it would be revealed everywhere. As to "downing" the breed(s) of dog I own, please do it. Of course, you only WANT to do it because you believe that you are being insulted because I notice how badly the pit bull community has failed pit bulls and what a miserable mess the breed is in. So you think that you will insult me if you were to "down" my breed(s) and that will somehow hurt my feelings or something. But, surprise! Unlike you, I recognize that a breed is best served by having people who not only tell the truth about the negative qualities of the breed, but actually go to great pains to EMPHASIZE those qualities, to ensure that nobody will get the breed for the wrong reasons or without being aware of what they are getting into. So "down" my breeds all you want and I won't be in the least bit offended and will probably join in. If you dissuade somebody from getting one, they shouldn't have gotten one anyway. Since I am not trying to make money off my breed(s), it won't hurt me a bit. I won't tell you what breed(s) I own, however, because I suspect (gee, I wonder why?) that you would try to post negative stuff about them simply because I own them, and that wouldn't contribute to helping people figure out the truth, would it? primrose
A little paranoid there are you Primmy? Funny how you seem to know how I will react to your breed of choice. See, unlike YOU I don't talk down about dog breeds. I do not believe in bad breeds. I do however believe in bad owners & bad dogs. I also believe that if you can't take a little criticism or scrutiny you have no business dishing it out Since you refuse to acknowledge your breed of dog I can only assume that either you have no idea what breed they are or you do not own dogs at all and therefore should be ignored. By the way, nothing you said in your post made much sense, how can I "down" your breed when you refuse to reveal it?? How are YOU best serving YOUR breed by telling the truth about it when you refuse to acknowledge it? Debby

American Pit Bull Terrier
-
Why the American Pit Bull Terrier or the American Staffordshire Terrier, of course! Debby
All this 'prey dive' talk is pox. My pit bull has been left alone with my gf's german sheppard, my parents shitzu and cat, never a problem. It depends on the dog, it's not pit bull specific. If they get along, then you can leave them. If not, don't trust it.
I don't know how old your pit bull is but it is obvious you know NOTHING about the breed. You need to educate yourself before you walk in on a scene like K posted. And, it is NOT pit bull specific, ANY dog can exhibit the same behaviour. A friend of mine just lost one of her pugs, her shar-pei killed it. :( Debby
Another of his issues is that he likes to show off for a crowd. He enjoys making people laugh (generally at my expense
That's a bully for you!! My Munkee will do almost anything to make me laugh! Debby
Oh! I know! I know! I know what breed Primmy has! WOMBATS
WOMBATS have killed 14 kids in MY neck of the woods :cunao: Debby
I've known people like you before. They exist to argue. They don't impart information, try to teach, try to empathize, etc. They just like arguing for the sake of argument. It makes some people feel alive or more intelligent than others to disagree. You seem to be one of those people. Maybe I'm wrong. Have you ever considered your own motivations on this board? You can always....wait for it...leave.
I have observed Primrose on another board, it amazes me how someone who refuses to reveal what breed of dog they own can bash people who own pit bulls & other breeds they don't care for. If you can't be honest enough to tell us what breed you own you have no right to say anything to any one about the breed of dog they chose to own. And she has some nerve trying to keep Rottnpit from being banned. She was quite successful in getting almost ALL of the pit bull pep squad (as she calls them) banned from the board she came here from. (sorry this is off topic also but I HAD to say something, on the other board I was only allowed to post one time before I was put in a down-stay & my posts never made it to the board, they were quarantined). And in case any one is wondering, I am an American Pit Bull Terrrier owner, always have been, always will be. :D Debby
-
Well Primmy, if you don't like the way this board is run you can always exit stage left. Not my board & I am mostly just a lurker but the people who have been members here for a long time should have SOME say as to who does & does not post here. Debby

Why thank you K!! I thought I was already a member here. Oh well, I am now! Debby
