Ooh please tell us how it goes. I have always wanted to take our dog Mandy to one because she was a 3 and a stray when we adopted her so I am very curious about if it works. Obediance girl what kind of things did she tell you? Was it personal things about the dog that there is no way she could have known?

Oh it drives you crazy doesn't it? Years and years ago when I was a kid we were getting new neighbors in and just before they moved in they brought there dog. Poor thing was so little and one of the homliest things I have ever seen. They left him tied up in the backyard with no food, water, or shelter, and it was going to rain that night. My grandpa was so mad he walked right into thier backyard untied the dog and brought it to our house. Then the next day when they came to move in he just gave it to them. The guy looked kind of scared and my grandma was an older man. He never did it again the dog always had food and shelter and my grandpa would check on him regularily to make sure. Idiots!!

It would be nice if they wanted a small purse dog if they got it from a shelter. Nothing wrong with wanting a dog to travel with you just as long as you are commited to the dog and took good care of him/her.
Very true! But (if you're referring to my "teeny purse puppy" comment) I said "that disappear after a couple months." I don't have anything against them getting travel-sized dogs, but you see them getting photo opps with their malti-poos and such things (that they probably paid 2k for), and the next thing you know there's a new Chihuahua or such thing, and the cycle continues.
No I wasn't referring to your comment but I must admit I got the phrase small purse dog from just reading your post. I really didn't have a problem with what you said at all. I agree 100%.

Well of course it could be phony but I think the point was if it isn't it looks awfully painful. If MajiesMom has one that doesn't hurt her dog then fine but I don't think that is what people are talking about. Also I question why someone would want to give the image that their dog is so tough especially if it happens to be a pit bull or Rottie with the reputation they are trying to fight.

I wished your lived in California my sister used to be an instructor at a grooming school I would have had her put in a good word for you. :D

That's for posting the information about the feet I always have trouble with feet. I worked at a grooming shop with my sister on occasion but I was not a trimmer just a bather/prepper. I used to watch them trim the dogs up but I didn't pay enough attention to the feet.

I am so sorry you got messed up in that crap. We moved 2 years ago and were planning on getting a brand new house but all of the stupid areas around here had those associations so instead we bought a 10 year old home that didn't have one. I will not live my life by those wackos who love to get into everyones business. We don't have any funny colored homes or old beat up junk heaps on blocks in our neighbor people have respect for each other because they choose too not because they are forced too. Well at least so far.

This is funny because everyone acts like it's so common but none of my other dogs have done this for more then once or twice as pups. My border terrier we got as a 3 year old and never did that. My cairn is the smartest dog I have ever had so I guess that is why I figured since he never did it at all maybe it was an intelligence issue. Now I see that Toto just finds different ways to be silly.

I'm sorry Aroura I remember how much I would cry when the loss of one of my dogs us fresh. The first dog I ever lost was Scooby and my God the strangest things would set me to crying again it lasted for a long time until finally I could talk about him and think about him without crying. After awhile you just smile when you think of them. I've lost two dogs so far in my life and now all 3 are young but I know I will face it again one day. But the years you have with them is worth it isn't it?

I'm no help I love them all. -
Thank you guys. That is very interesting TDG I guess I will never know what that crazy guy really is but it's just fun to guess. No Dog Paddle he is not itchy anywhere else and he is a big goofball too so I guess he is just being goofy. DAL  That probably drives her even more crazy not being able to get to the nub sometimes if Shadow bends just right he can reach the end of his tail. No Starfox he is not that intense about it. He listens if he is doing that. What he does is he is going along and kind of notices it out of the corner of his eye and then tries to get a hold of it and he will stop if you call to him. He is so full of energy I can walk him until the cows come home and it doesn't do much good. He tries to run like crazy in the backyard but right now it's a muddy mess and since winter has come here he hasn't been able to run it off. Just the other day on Thanksgiving he managed to run out there and just the wrong time and came pouncing in covered in mud! But next weekend a new dog park that is much bigger is supposed to open so maybe we will go there and get all that energy out. I'll take him and Toto and they can go crazy. Poor Toto has small legs and tries to hard to keep up and Shadow will come over and stand over him. It drives Toto crazy and he will bite Shadows legs to get him to go away.
Your website is amazing! Way to go! :D I have a question though, on the English "home" page, there are pics of a Sire and Dam. I was wondering if the Sire is of the same breed? He looked really different! Is he the powderpuff type or something? Heh, feel like an idiot.
Well we can be idiots together because I am confused too. Seriously though there are so many breeds out there you can't know everything.

Shadow my 8 month old Sheltie is still chasing his tail. Do you think it's a sign of a not so bright dog? I mean I love him dearly and not everyone can be really bright but don't you think after trying to get a hold of your tail almost everday for 8 months you would figure out there is no way your going to catch it. Another question about him he weighs 40lbs. Now how big can a Sheltie actually get. The shelter told me he wouldn't get any bigger then 25lbs. I don't care what size he or what he is I am just curious since I am not a sheltie/collie expert. But then I did some research and found out they are all different sizes because they bred collies with the shelties over the years. But I was wondering how big is he too big to be a sheltie and might be a small collie. I have asked other boards and people say there is no way he could be a collie based on his size but he is even bigger then he was when I asked before. Here's a recent picture. No one believes me when I tell them he's not a collie.

Stupid me forgot the point of my post. Mandy gave me trouble as I said and the more we have done it the better she has gotten and has stopped wiggling. As far as crying our Sheltie screamed everytime we gave him a bath but the more you do it the more they get used to it. If you really want to do it then you just have to take it slow and they will get over it. Now he just sits there extremely unhappy as if your about to kill him but no more screaming.
-
I think you did a great job they are adorable. I trim my dogs too. It was a little nerve wracking at first with Mandy our border terrier mix she would move constantly so I just practice with my cairn who is a little gentlemen and sits there like a statue when I trim him. I don't follow all those stupid rules about how your cairn is supposed to be cut. I just cut it down the way I think he needs it. He often gets mistaken for a snauzer but who cares nothing wrong with being a snauzer.
-
I don't get it what is the point of putting another persons dog on dogster and saying it's yours. There not getting anything out of it. It just seems silly.
-
What I don't get is how people find out about this stuff. Did the woman go around telling people she is breast feeding her puppy? I guess if your weird enough to do it in the first place you not all there enough to hide the fact your doing it. :o
-
Well that's not very flattering is it?

As Between the Wrinkles said chicken wire is the cheapest and it works really well. My dogs tried once and haven't gone near the fence since. All you do is dig just under the surface of the fence put the chicken wire in their and bury it.
-
I am wondering about the 100lbs specification too. Why would the dog have to be 100lbs? Are they planning on having the dog double as a pony for the kids?

I've created my very first "designer" breeds :)

That second one freaked me out. I try to fool my 10 year old niece but she didn't buy it. She said she has been a lot of animal books and there never was a goad in any of them. Those were great. -
We had that happen to us when we bought a rabbit from a petstore many years ago. This was before I found out the people in petstores don't know anymore then the average pet owner. But we asked for a female simply because we were told males would mark the walls. Then a few months later we turned him over to check and see if he had poop smeared on his bottom and we found out our girl was a boy. And just for the record he never once sprayed the walls.
