Charges are not likely to be filed in the case because the incident appears to be isolated
What ever happened to negligence :o ? Doesn't that count anymore? If the child had been left in a locked car under the sun, or had died from ingesting a household poison, the authorities would have been all over them for child abuse :x .
I totally agree this child was neglected and I know the parents have been through the worst nightmare but some idiots also claim they didn't know any better when they leave the child in the car unattended.

I know how hard it is to visit your dog and not be able to bring them home that day. I didn't have it as bad though we adopted Mandy when she was 3 but she wasn't spayed yet so they were able to schedule it right away because she was obviously old enough. So we took her home 4 days later but we visited her everyday during the wait to make sure she was alright and to get to know her better. Oh and to bring her treats.

Are you going to get her spayed?
I am sorry if i made it sound like Boxers are a bad dog. They are not. It was this boxer. I dont want anybody to think that. They are a loving breed. I just happend to get a bad bloodline i belive. And for the dog that breaks your fence have you ever met the dog?? Just make sure that the owner does pay for his dog breaking the fence.
It's alright I was just making conversation I know they aren't all bad. I am just mad at my stupid neighbor. I have been in contact with lots of boxers and love them. But I am nervous about this particular one.

beagle on last days!!!!!!!!!! i need some info fast
Cairn6 replied to CKMILK's topic in Everything about dogs
I say go check it out for sure. I bet she will be just fine with your pup. So many people dump dogs just because they don't want them not because there is anything wrong with the dog. Go for it and bring your pup for a meeting. -
I am totally not someone for breed stereotyping but I must admit at this moment all these stories of Boxers is making me nervous. Especially the one about the dog that sounded like he was trying to eat the fence. The neighbors have a Boxer that has been pounding his head through the fence for years now. We keep on fixing it as it happens. The neighbor is a real idiot who complained about my dog barking at him at 12 noon while he was cleaning his pool but thinks nothing of the fact that his dog breaks our fence. What if he did break though? Is my niece in danger or my dogs? I been thinking this for awhile but I just thought that he was all talk now I am kind of scared.

I have to say though that I don't understand why anyone with a dog aggressive dog would be showing up at the dog park. I never brought Toto to the dog park. Why would you put your dog and other dogs in harms way that way? Not to mention a human that might be stupid and get in the way. My dog is only 20lbs and I never bring him to the dog park even now that he seems to be almost completely over the problem. I will never believe he is 100% over even though we haven't had any problems in months.

I think it makes them look like they have some sort of skin disease or something. Don't like it at all.

A questio for those of you with older dogs...
Cairn6 replied to Taurus and Jada's topic in Everything about dogs
This is the same way my Scooby acted when he was diagnosed with hypothyroid. I am glad you getting him checked neutering shouldn't have caused such a change. Be sure to tell us what he says. -
found this on a web sight is it true about female dogs???
Cairn6 replied to CKMILK's topic in Everything about dogs
This statement is true because the sex organs are often what 'drive' a canine to show dominance aggression.
If this is true that perhaps xavierandrea should give it a try with her female. I feel so terrible about her situation. -
My heart is broke, the girls are fighting again.

Oh geez this is so painful when Toto bit me my family kept telling me that I need to get rid of him because what if he hurts Samantha(she was 6 at the time) I was breaking up a fight like I said before and it had nothing to do with Samantha but they felt that since he bit once he will bite again. The pain I went through was agonizing and I decided to give him a chance and work on his dog aggression so I can't imagine the pain of actually having to give up the dog. But it wasn't a problem in my home though it was with other dogs outside of the home I don't know what my decision would have been if it was a problem at home. I really feel for you and no matter what you decide were all here to support you the best we can. -

I just reread the first post and it says that both dogs bit her son on each arm that's what I was talking about not the accident from before. I'm not judging the situation you know your dogs more then the rest of us do. I am just stating I am concerned but I know you wouldn't do anything to put your son in danger so whatever you decide. I have a dog that bit me once because I got in the middle of a fight between him and another dog and I am a grown adult. I was stupid your son is just being a child. I didn't get rid of him but I did scold him for it to make sure he knew that was not right. Even if it's a mistake I still scold them simply because they need to understand that teeth on human skin is not a good thing no matter what only because they don't speak english and there is no way to let them know you know it was a mistake. -

I have found with a multiple dog household that making darn sure that they know who is the Alpha dog is the only way to keep complete peace. the Alpha dog would be you. If your the leader they all have to step in line. I have 2 males and 2 females and in the past when there is a problem they know how I feel about it and there will be no fighting. Especially the dominant breeds you have to make sure they know they are not above you and you are allowed to pet whomever you want whenever you want. This is done by making them work for everything, food, toys, and even affection. I must admit I do worry a little that you are keeping a dog that has bitten your son even if by accident when you weren't there to correct her. Did I read it wrong you did say both dogs bit your son? Dogs don't think oh I just bit and it was an accident and I am not supposed to do that. What they think is oh that's interesting I was just allowed to bite. Watch your son for a bit and don't leave him alone with the dog that bite him just be sure she won't decide it's alright to bite him since she already got away with it. -
I support RESPONSABLE exotic animal ownership, but seriously, it's those 'wanted' ads that scare me the most! :o I stopped reading after page ten.. Too many people there looking for any sort of big exotic animal they can get their slimy little hands on. :drinking: ~Seij
How on earth can the average person ever been considered a responsible owner of a wild animal. Perhaps a really good zoo with a very natural habitat but other then that who could be possibly justified in owning one.

Oh darn the above post was me I didn't realize I wasn't logged in.

Gee I always heard it was the poodle. I was also told by my both the trainers at different places that cairns are extremely smart the one were working with now he went on and on telling everyone to just watch this dog you'll be amazed. He said is was precisely for the reason mentioned it's the ability to think things through not just blindly follow. He is very smart there is nothing you can't teach him. Now whether he is the smartest who knows it's not like people pay that much attention to this breed it's hard to find anyone that even knows what he is when walking down the street. At it's not like I am biased or anything.

Does your apartment have a size restrictions? Some places only want dogs under 25lbs.

pitbulls kill shelter cats... I don't get this story!
Cairn6 replied to pitbullEmily's topic in Amstaffs & Pit Bulls
Whoever did this I don't believe they did it because they thought the cats were a health risk. If they thought that they would have just poisoned the cats but the sicko that did this just wanted to see the cats slaughtered by the dogs. It's amazing how many truly sick people are just walking around out there. -
Now I know yet another benefit to having a 20lb. dog.

Well I let one of my dogs Toto sit at the table when I eat. He doesn't eat off the table but he likes to sit there and watch me eat. In our old house we had no air conditioning and Toto would come into the room and stand in front of the fan I was using. I would let him stay there. Everytime I go swimming he goes too and he goes through the drive through and hands the lady the money and pays for our meal.(just kidding!!)
woohoo! dogs know people better then we do, i always judge my dogs choice of people..
Me too!! Toto loves everyone but every now and then there will be someone he doesn't like. I am always leary of those people. Another thing is that I don't trust people that don't like dogs either not to the extent of dog lovers.

It's no big deal I thought it was funny because I am always making mistakes like that and it's good to see others being human.
Kat is quite correct. you are not supposed to block a fire escape with anything. AND the dog requires shade and water, especially if its a metal crate. I would report it. If the owner does not comply (and I dont understand their comment AT ALL..."Well you have to understand we love dogs and my momma hates to see that. " hates to see what? that they love dogs, or that the dog is crated on the fire escape? if the former, momma sounds a little looney too. it's a bad situation any way you look at it, and needs to be reported.
The comment about loving dogs came from xavierandrea son. He was simply explaining why she is so upset. The owner didn't think it was a big deal at all. Your calling Xavierandrea a loon.

Does this look like a Pit Bull to anyone else?
Cairn6 replied to Lucky Chaos's topic in Amstaffs & Pit Bulls
Don't you get it all dogs that bite are pit bulls. My dog bit me once so he is a pit bull. I had a lab that bit me once so I guess that made him a pit bull. Heck I guess we all have pit bulls. The only one of my dogs that isn't a pit bull would be the chihuahua she hasn't bit me yet. But who knows one day she might just be a pit bull a ten lb one but a pit bull all the same.
