1. I'm sure Morphine would help to cure diarrhea since a big side effect of most narcotics is constipation. It stops the smooth muscle in the intestine from going about it's regular duties.
2.
morphine here (if its the same thing) is so tightly regulated you cant even get a prescription for it. You have to be IN the hospital to get morphine, and in some major extensive pain.
You absolutely can get a prescription for Morphine. Usually when pharmacies dispense it, it is in tablet form and goes by the name MS-Contin or Oramorph. I worked in a pharmacy and dispensed it often.
3. Obviously something needs to be done here. If you can't take the dog or dogs with you (it would be better if you could take them both) than you need to call the police. I'd tell them you're going to do it though. Just say, "If you don't hand over the dogs, I'm going to report you to the authorities." Then make sure you do so if they don't comply with your wishes.
4. I doesn't take much to split a lip open. I can remember my sister and I having bloody lips an awful lot when we were little just from playing hard. I have scars on the inside of my mouth from it. Hopefully X and Asim will be friends again soon!
5. Has anybody ever seen "This is Spinal Tap"? It's an early Christopher Guest movie (1984 I think) and is a mockumentary like "Best in Show". If you haven't, you should go see it right now! It's hilarious!
6.
I must have looked like a drunken swamp monster.

7. I think there are good things about all different kinds of Border Collies. If it's true that a Border Collie from showing lines is less high strung and energetic than a working dog, than I think that sort would be better as a pet. Why try to get a working Border Collie if you're not going to work it?
8. Maybe just change the listing to Shepherd/Golden mix? Maybe people are thrown off by the Anatolian part...
9. My aunt has a dog who is prone to having a gassy stomach. The vet told her to give the dog a baby anti-gas pill and it works really well for her. You'd probably want to give more for a larger dog. My aunt's is only 35 pounds.
10.
I am begining to believe there should be a DNA test run on these dogs to try to determine what exactly they are. if that's even possible.
Why? Who cares what breed the dog is? I only care that it bit somebody. Trying to determine exactly what breed or breeds a certain dog belongs to is a great way to get them banned I think. It would be interesting to know though.
11.
Many years ago, in Petsmart, a tiny little boy came up to Jesse, I swear I just turned my head for a second, and wrapped his arms around Jesse's neck. The boy was not even as tall as Jesse. The boy's father was about 15 feet away running his mouth.
This happens to Buck a lot. He is wonderful with kids though. He just stands there waiting for them to detach themselves :-) A few days ago a little boy was hugging Buck and I couldn't get him to let go. He didn't speak English and I couldn't find his mom!
12. One of the funniest things Buck has done happened just recently. I had to leave him in the car to run into the grocery store and I just happened to have an empty McDonald's bag on my front seat. I came back to the car, opened the door and greeting me is a dog with a McDonald's bag covering his entire head. He just stood there wagging his tail and going in for kisses with that dumb bag stuck on his head. I don't know how he got it so far onto his head without tearing it!
13. I really don't care what the breed is. I would have no qualms about putting to sleep a dog who attacked a child when that dog had the ability to run away. If that dog had an out and attacked the child instead of taking it, that would be enough for me to decide on its temperment. Bleeding hearts making excuses for biting dogs are very very dangerous in my opinion. Probably more dangerous than the dogs they are fighting for.
14. All I have to say is: pine nut, hickory nut, peanut, cashew nut, walnut, pecan nut...
15. You can only get Lyme disease from Deer Ticks. I'm guessing most of you have found wood ticks on you. Deer Ticks are super small and hard to find. Wood ticks are the larger more common ones. I don't know of anything you can get from Wood Ticks. I get Wood ticks on me constantly. I find probably 7 or 8 a summer and usually they are already attached. I've never had a problem with them. I just pull them off. Same thing with Buck. Leeches are also really common around here. They don't bother me at all. It's kind of fun to pull them off because you look like you're bleeding to death for a minute. It's a good time to get very dramatic  I'd take Leeches over Mosquitos and flies anyday. At least leeches don't hurt when they bite you.
16. I wouldn't go with a gentle leader. They do not help you train your dog, they only make it much harder for the dog to behave badly. The transition from gentle leader to flat collar will be very hard because your dog hasn't learned not to pull. Can you try distracting him when he sees something he wants? Then reward him for sticking by you. Keep doing this until you are past whatever he wants. It may help depending on your dog. I know some dogs can't really be distracted like that. A prong may work well for you, but remember you still need to be able to transition from the prong to a flat collar. The prong should only be used for training and the end goal is to be able to walk your dog on the flat collar without him pulling.
17. Please don't get any more dogs or other pets any time soon and concentrate on the ones you have now. A good rule of thumb is that a responsible owner never ever ever takes their dog to a shelter and leaves them there. It just doesn't happen because what you have done is the very definition of a bad owner. I realize this may not be all your fault, because you are young and living at home where the final say is not your own, but all of your family should be ashamed. :(
18.
But wouldn't you rather people be licenced to have a dog than SO many dogs end up in shelters, dead, and abused? Rather then now even being ALLOWED to own a certain breed, you have to take a test first to be qualified to do so!
No I wouldn't actually. Because it wouldn't work. The government can't educate our children reliably. It can't even assess our taxes correctly. It certainly does not have the resources to take on any more burdens. Government needs to be downsized, not super sized. The only thing worse than having to ask the government if I can own a dog, would be the government telling me no I cannot. And if you want to open the door to BSL, this would be one great way to do it. I can just see it now. "No, you're not qualified to own a pit bull (in reality nobody would be) why don't you go pick out a nice Golden Retriever." Once you open that door, you can't close it.
19. I do what I can. I educate people all the time if they're mistaken about something dog related. I help out with the rescues and I own one myself. I encourage anyone interested in getting a dog to visit petfinder.com and a few other local rescue's websites first. I've also helped others train their own unruly dog. You won't see me putting up signs though. People ignore signs. I especially ignore them if I don't know the credibility of where they came from. I'd much rather talk to someone personally so I can at least sound intelligent and informed. So that's what I do.
You know what I wish could be done that every single person that wants to own a dog would have to be licensed
I'm most certainly against anything that gives the government any more power than it already has. The only way to effect real change with this is to do it through social means, not governmental. How many government run agencies can you name that don't screw everything up? Debate is a good thing. If a particular thread is bothering you, don't read it. I guess it sounds harsh, but it makes sense.
20. This is seriously the worst case of having to have the last word I've ever seen.
I know why, I just don't understand why they can't call it a "Lab + Bernese" is all.
It's just semantics. Maybe you'd prefer it if they came up with a different name altogether that didn't include Lab or Bernese. Lab + Bernese cross is kind of hard to say.
22.
Any ramps would prevent me from opening the door itself.
DUH!! What was I thinking!
Mixed breed dogs are NOT healthier than purebreds. Just ask StarFox. I can honestly say I know nothing about genetics but I just don't believe that to be true.
No one said it was impossible for mixed breeds to have genetic problems, but it is less common. It has to be. It's the only thing that makes any sense and I know with all my heart that it is true. I do have a good understanding of genetics having taken 2 semesters of it, one semester being an advanced course. It is especially true with purebreds that have been bred by people who don't know what they're doing. Line breeding or whatever they officially call inbreeding is tricky and is only successful when the person planning the match knows what is going on with genetics. People who throw 2 purebreds together are asking for trouble more so than people who throw 2 mutts together.
Think about how small that gene pool gets. All purebreds have has inbreeding in them to create the "standard" look we are looking for. Purebreds are also fairly new creations and look how quickly they are sufferering from genetic diseases, ill health, immune problems etc.
Right on Brotha :P
24. What about making him ramps on either side of the door? That way he doesn't have to jump at all. He could just walk out.
25. While it is nice when insurance companies do not have any breed restrictions, I guess I can't blame those that do. They're a business and they need to protect their own interests (including stockholders interests). If their statisticians are telling them that people who own certain breeds submit more claims than those who do not own those breeds, than I guess it makes sense to restrict coverage on those people. I agree that the no bites rule makes sense and I would prefer insurance companies stick with that. Starting a letter writing campaign about it seems pointless though. What should I do if I'm a pit bull owner? Should I write them and tell them that I won't be giving them any of my money? Oh wait, they don't want it anyway... :-?
