In the morning I went downstairs and as I was going down, I saw Zoe lying flat on the rug in the hall. Thats strange because Zoe sleeps in the utility room so that she doesn't set off the house burglar alarm. I thought "Oh gosh no..something has happened during the night and shes died and Dad has laid her out on the mat". She didn't look like she was breathing at all and I screamed "Zoe" at her. The big lig raised her head and thumped her tail wondering what all the fuss was about! :o Someone must have left the utility room door open and shes dandered in but wow she really did give me a shock!

These faults are not applicable to the Border collie breed unless their upringing has been wrong. You will find that most Border collies are very friendly and outgoing. No health problems mentioned? Border collies are the most common breed to suffer from epilepsy as well as retinalatrophy and collie eye anomaly (CEA) which is a choroid condition.

Any dog has the potential to be dangerous. Thats what I always say in cases of multiple breed BSL. Then again all humans also have the capability of being dangerous but I don't see any countries where they are banned? :o

Thanks for your words everyone :D I'm going to write him a letter that explains my thoughts and my emotions and I will give it to him at the airport before I fly to Texas in 2 weeks time. Each time I try to talk to him it ends in a yelling match and at least this way he can't interrupt my words. It would be easier to do this with his consent but it will be happening, regardless of his objections.

I've read it many times before but it still makes me cry.

I think he should stay with you. If given the choice, I am nearly positive that it would be your home that he would choose after being so used to living with you and the dogs now :wink:

After I come back from Texas I'm getting a Border collie puppy. My Dad is still saying no and I haven't spoken to him for 2 weeks now and since this business with Meg started, I've been miserable. My family have accommodated my Dad for many years while he studied and went through the court case and we always have revolved around him, so now things are going to change. He got his dream of getting a dog when he got Zoe near 14 years ago. I have worked so hard at school and uni and at anything I have done and I feel that i have never been rewarded for it. I feel at the moment that I have no purpose in life and I am just miserable and sinking deeper into unhappiness. Its not like me to be unhappy like this either.. I've just been going to see Meg and sitting stroking her and talking and crying to her through the fence. I did that again today then came back home and sat on the step with Zoe outside. Bless her heart , Zoe was nudging me and whopping me with her paw trying to comfort me, so I spent some time with her and brushed her and just stroked her..shes nearly 14 years old now and she has her own problems but its like she just forgets all that when someone needs comforting. I just sat in misery and then weighed up the options coming to the conclusion that life is too short. Dogs are my life and I have an excellent record with training so its not like I am a beginner. If he kicks me out of the house, then fine but I dont really think he would if it came to the crunch...I'll take that risk but my mind is set and I am getting my own puppy.

We have used Frontline for pups of 2 weeks old. Its in myy opinion the only effective flea and tick treatment and i've always used it for my dogs, kitties and my iguana with great success :wink:

why are you prepared to pay copious amounts of ridiculous money for a designer mutt/cross breed? Visit your local shelter and take a look at the cross breeds there where you will pay a lot less.

No, it won't pick up anything if you use a human pregnancy test. The hormones in dogs and humans are different so you would be best taking your dog to a vet if you are unsure and if it wasn't a planned mating, you should have your bitch spayed.

To me, the original pit posted a few posts ago is an excellent specimen and just has the right balance to make up the body condition, but to be able to see those ribs, regardless of how much muscle the other dog has, tells me from a veterinary point of view that the dog is far too thin.
