1. how childish...if you are leaving then why are you still here arguing?
2. Tracy please do take a pic so I can see if it really was a long haired bassett that I seen a few weeks ago! :D
3. Tonight I was down at Texaco with Kes (had an attack of the munchies and needed hum nums to eat  ). They know Kessie down there now so I can bring her into the shop, but tonight the little madam let me down a bucketful  . Ever so quietly she must have lifted a packet of chewits in her mouth and was carrying them down the shop towards the door on the way out. I didn't even notice until we were near out the door! :o
4. Just my honest opinion- Tallie does sound dangerous and i think personally she sounds like a great liability. If you adopt from another shelter, you are still rehoming a dog on death row , right?
5. Well Border collies come in 3 different coat lengths. Rough are the usual length most people see semi rough are not quite as long haired as the roughs (I think Kes will turn out this way) short are very short coated like a labradors coat length short is actually dominant so if a rough mates with a short more pups are likely to be short than rough. Kes' mum is a semi rough and her dad is very rough coated so I reckon she will be a semi too :D SG- love those long haired Dals! :D
6. Bear welcome, but you would be best to start a new thread yourself as this thread you have dug up is over 2 years old!
7. lol Sassy knows what she likes
8. Tonight Kes was in her crate downstairs while I was on the internet and she started barking furiously. i thought she might need out but i went down to the utility room and she was barking at Zoe...who was pulling apart the contents of the rubbish bag  Zoe should be the one setting an example and you should have seen Kes when I went and shouted at zoe. she was all wiggle butt when i told her she was a good girl and all pleased with herself
9. she found the right people to take her in! Keep us posted
10. That was a very good slide-show but perhaps not hard hitting enough as some I have seen. Some breeder... that labrador bitch had a choke chain on and to add insult to injury it was on the wrong way and also those pups weren't even pedigree... how very sad to see such ignorance from owners.
11. Happy whelping day Freckles :bday:
12. in N.Ireland the weather is actually pretty nice! 19c which is 66F. We are going to have a bbq tonight :D
13. Rowie (hugs to you first). I am so sorry you had to go through the trauma of witnessing this act. Yes you must call the police and report these kids. If you know where they live then thats even better. If they can do this at 6 years old..what are they capable of doing when they are 16?... :o I hate the so called human race too for the record. They aren't all bad but my goodness the concentration factor of asswangs to good people is far too strong for my liking...
14. wow that looks like super fun to do and what a bargain price too! :D
15. Sounds like pooh bear did great and Maya had great fun too :D
16. aha the lovely topic of anal glands. Alright heres the deal. Wild dogs use these glands to help lubricate and pass a large bowel movement. They would be eating large prey items like rabbits and therefore need the glands. Our dogs are fed commercial diets and their bowel movements are usually not as firm or as large as wild dogs, therefore they don't use the glands and they fill up. Some dogs do naturally express them when passing a motion and others don't. Toy breeds are the worst for it! The easiest way to do it is get 1 person to hold the dogs head, while the other person lifts the tail enough to expose the glands and then using your finger and thumb at 10 and 2 o'clock position you milk the glands as if milking a cow. It isn't the easiest thing to do just like milking but when I worked at the practice I was always getting called to do anal glands because unfortunately I'm rather good at the technique
17. cheers everyone! She actually doesn't have to have rabies as she is coming from the UK which is a rabies free zone. Checked all that with DEFRA, but I may get her done here before i go, because she will have to be done over there anyways. Good point about the bordatella and other dogs being on the plane. I'll get that done! umm I've no idea when im coming but hopefully towards the end of summer in august time perhaps. can't say too much more in case big brother is watching :P
18. Hi Folks, Can you please tell me in America what vaccinations your dogs get in their annual booster? My vet here says that if theres anything different than to what we have here then he will try and give it to Kes before she goes to America so that she is protected fully. Over here we have: Parvo, Parainfluenza, Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Influenza Thanks in advance :D
19. In Northern Ireland here the pitbull is a banned breed under the dangerous dogs act. Its a shame on one hand but on the other hand these dogs are quite often liked to terrorist activities and on more than one occasion I have been involved in under cover operations to bust fighting rings and triangles. Of course they are still about and I saw a beautiful red and white bitch last week..unfortunately with a crowd of yobs who were drinking on the street in daylight.. I felt for the dog.
20. feel better soon Jackie
21. haha I doubt any high profile celeb would have a Border collie. They take up far too much time for a celeb that tours the world! The only person I know that is a celeb with a bc is a guy called matt baker who presents a kids programme called Blue Peter. He has a dog called Meg who is related to Meg (the original) but in saying that he works her with sheep and she comes into the studio on tv with him. Hes a very nice guy to talk with :D
22. HF you crack me up  Yeah ok so some dogs are harder to clean than others I will admit that. My grandparents had a Lhasa Apso called Nicky and they thought his coat was just wonderful and silky until the skanking weather made walks a pain in the butt and he had to be cleaned each time hecame in. After that he was clipped into a puppy clip which made life easier
23. Tonight I was just browsing the internet and I came across a truly horrific article on a site that publicises the plight of Border collies in Ireland. I'm sitting here crying my eyes out right now asking myself over and over as I look at the pictures... How can someone do that... Please be warned the images are graphic but I urge you to read about these dogs please....and when you hug your fur babies tonight, please spare a thought for these dogs. I can hardly see the screen now because the tears are blurring my vision. Click the url then go to the menu on the left to "evil that men do" http://www.wiccaweys.co.uk/start.html
24. I don't think she will forget. I was heart scared that Meggie would forget about me after not seeing her for 6 months, but she went ballistic when she saw me. She still does.
