1. I thought it might be cool to start letting Kes sleep in her crate in my room instead of the utility room a few weeks ago. That ended after one sleepless night! :o For a wee puppy the noise that girl makes is madness! She howls in her sleep and she was sleeping cos i sat at 4am and watched her with the light from my mobile and kicks against the crate and whimpers making me think she had something wrong with her! :o
2. you lot have done it again!
3. Kes gets Royal Canin. In N.I the choice is pretty limited and royal canin is right at the top end of the scale (with a price to match too!!!) . When I get to the u.s. i will have a look at the other foods and maybe switch, but I'm quite happy with the royal canin and its content.
4. Your dog from the photos I've seen is quite a large dog. Is she fed from an elevated feeder? This may help to alleviate the problem.
5. Rawhides are just plain evil. They really shouldn't be allowed but people are pulled in by marketing ploys when the hides are in the form of shoes and bones and baseballs etc. They damage the dogs intestinal lining and swell in the dogs gut causing bloat and they can cause gastro-torsion. Additionally they have a link to causing cancer. Just give him something like chicken and rice for today with small quantities of water little and often to settle his tummy.
6. Kes wolfs her food down and she gets hiccups too  . Its just the result of swallowing extra air.
7. The butchers here won't give out bones now. They used to but with CJD and BSE scares they won't have bones now at all, so they have to be all bought from the petshop. I give her pig ears but they are gone in about 20 mins flat. I'm totally against raw hide because there are links and research that shows it can trigger cancer.
8. you lot really turn everything innocent into something porno- esque
9. Well possibly it was my fault. I went to the loo and left her in my room. I had a glass of water sitting on my bedside table and yep ..you guessed it! She tipped the whole tall glass over and soaked a book, my stuffed BC and my mobile. I only had to look at her and tell her it wasn't a very clever thing to do and she went and lay down with her head down on her fleece and looked up at me with those puppy dog eyes. I went and lay down beside her and we both must have fallen asleep on the floor and I woke up and we were facing each other and I had my arm over her and Kes had her paw up on my neck :iloveyou: ... She really is such a sweetheart at times. :D How could I be even remotely angry at a puppy with a face like this  :
10. what sort of bones do you folks give to your dogs? I'm very wary of bones in general but I gave Kes her 1st bone-a parma ham bone and shes loving it! :D I'd like to give her other types like ham bones that wont splinter too.
11. This is just too well written! I can picture the scene all too clearly in my head
12. He is lovely! Theres something about a scruffy wee terrier that has the awwwe factor
13. Its a matter of personal choice really, but I would never leave any of my own dogs outside alone or any dogs that I would petsit. It only takes a moment for someone to walk in and steal a dog and in the UK dognapping for ransom is rife!
14. any sort of oatmeal based shampoo is usually very good. I don't honestly have specific names though sorry!
15. In my honest opinion I see no wrong in asking this. You want a dog specifically for the purpose of SAR and a dog in order to do SAR must be both physically and mentally fit. I'm not sure about the training in the U.S. but in the uk here its very rigorous before dogs are even considered for further training.
16. That was so sad but very meaningful. I've got tears streaming from my eyes now...i'm too soft when it comes to reading stories like this :(
17. thats brillllll that pooh is doing so great! :D
18. Happy whelping day Eli!!!! :bday: :bday:
19. Kes and I were at the park tonight doing a wee bit of training and having a mad run around. As I was going out the gate a family of parents with 3 young daughters (aged 4,8,11) came over to me. They started petting Kes of course then informed me they were thinking of getting a border collie for their daughters. :o Alarm bells rang and I educated them about the real border collie and my thesis and why bc's are not good for kids or as a first time dog and why they are the highest breed numbers in shelters in the uk. We had a great chat and I gave them solid honest information and they will now be looking at another breed of which I advised a cairn or a ckcs which would be more suitable for children in terms of maintenance. They were so nice and grateful for the information and couldn't thank me enough. I just love people who will actually listen sometimes. :D
20. ok so my words today are totally fecked up. Perhaps stepping out in front of a bus would be better though after the day I've had! :o
21. don't mention the prim type word... you know she will come back :o Good to see ya back cheeky! :D
22. This is getting very old and very boring and very monotonous  Life is too short to waste going over old territory when the issue has been put onto the fire to burn away. You could walk out in front of a bus tomorrow and instead you're wasting your time arguing with people you don't know.. reality check comes to mind.
23. ZOE!!!! My Golden oldie Zoe is 14 years old today :bday:
24. What about a staffordshire bull terrier or would that be lumped as a pit bull in america? :-? I think a boxer would indeed be a super idea
25. DP in your photo that you just posted I would have said Kavik is definitely a rough coated BC. Just to give a few pics This is a short haired BC (note the fur is practically unmeasurable like a labrador) Meg is a rough the same as this dog: These are a few of the semi-roughs (a feature of a semi rough is that the ears are usually erect or slightly tipped)
