1. :Dog_run: That was beautiful. Happy birthday Meg
2. :Dog_run: Sounds exactly like me :D
3. :Dog_run: How exciting. I completely forgot about out PetsMart party. :(
4. :Dog_run: How nice of you, I'm sure the dogs will enjoy them.
5. :Dog_run: That is so nice of you Izzy. Michele, you've earned it!!
6. :Dog_run: Years ago Scott and I took our dog in to be pts and the vet gave us such a hard time. Schroeder was very old, couldn't see, couldn't walk, lost all control of bowel movements and just seemed to be in pain all the time regardless of what we did. The way that vet treated us, it was like we woke up one day and thought, hey let's have Schroeder put down. I just assumed all vets were against having a dog pts.
I'm pretty sure, in most places at least, that the vet is inclined to have the dog PTS if the owner asks it to since legaly the dog is the owners "property". At least I'm pretty sure that's how it works, though I'm sure if it's totally against the vet's morals they can decline... but at least around here, the vet won't even ask to many questions
7. :Dog_run: Re used to splash all his water out of the dish. He also out grew that.
8. :Dog_run: I was beginning to think I was a bad person. Two years ago, when Scott almost let me adopt another dog, I contacted three different rescues. I was denied from all three for two reason: 1. I work outside the home for longer than four hours. 2. I didn't have a fenced yard. Didn't matter that I already had a perfectly adjusted dog without those things, couldn't have another dog. The work outside the home thing has always made me feel guilty, I guess I shouldn't feel guilty after all. I used to crate Re all day(8am to about 3pm) but now he just sleeps all day. I'd like to get rid of the crate all together but he uses it at night and when we go anywhere in the car.
9. :Dog_run: Behle, I'm so very sorry your neice went through that.
10. :Dog_run: The article didn't mention it but on the news they said the dog weighed not quite 15 lbs. It doesn't matter what size it is but that is just a little thing. Re is 14. Now I'm cryin' again.
11. :Dog_run: Hey, are you guys trying to say that four month old dogs aren't trained?? I thought all dogs from shelters are trained. How dare they adopt them out untrained? Next thing you're gonna tell me is that they might go potty inside sometimes.
12. :Dog_run: Michele, you are amazing, thank you for all your hard work on this. I know this will help. I think DAL will be in for a big shock sometime soon :evilbat:
13. :Dog_run: I just watched this on the news, I was in tears. They went into more detail on the news but this is enough. This is the third animal cruelty case this week. Oct 20, 2005 2:40 pm US/Eastern Washington, PA (KDKA) A realtor made a horrifying discovery in a vacant Washington home. Police say the realtor was cleaning out the second floor of a home on Church Street when the remains of a dog that had been brutally killed were discovered. Police say the dog was tortured. The male dog was found duct taped and hog-tied with his mouth taped shut. Veterinarians say the dog suffocated and that he did not die quickly. The dog apparently belonged to a family who lived nearby. The dog had been missing since Saturday. Right now, the Humane Society is setting up a reward to find out who did this horrible crime.
14. :Dog_run: I bought Re a hard plastic wobble mouse with holes in it (cat toy) and put his favorite treat in it. When I pull it out of the toy box, he looses his mind!
15. :Dog_run: I'll add Re to the yes column. Doorbell's ( we don't have one), sometimes phones but the strangest thing is when he is walking by the TV and the picture changes, he gets scared to death and runs out of the room as if someone shot a gun :hmmmm: Not sure what that's about. DrJ-what kind of TV do you have?
16. :Dog_run: Figured I'd update everyone, he howled like a baby when I went out without him, I had a tear or two in my eyes  . Steph called us about an hour into the drive and had me on the speaker phone. Re kept running to the window and barking. I felt even guiltier (is that a word?) He did miss us but he and Scott ended up having quality bonding time. And we both survived. Next time, Re comes with us.
17. :Dog_run:
Coal has come through leaps and bounds, I can take his dish away just fine now, and remove anything from his mouth that he may have gotten ahold of and shouldn't have.
Scott and I can take anything away from Re but the kids get scared when he growls and he takes full advantage of it. And yes, they need to spend more time finding qualified people to adopt these "vicious" dogs.
18. :Dog_run: I must have been watching that same episode. I believe they ended up euthanizing all of them  . As far as that food aggression thing. How similar to a human hand is that plastic thing?? She does over do it with pokin it in their faces. Someone stuck that under my nose, you better believe I'd bite it. It scares me cause Re would Never pass that. He would definately fail the whole adoption process.
19. :Dog_run:
So.. You drive the truck... Have SIL ride in the back and put re's crate in the front...
That's what she is trying to do. There are two large coolers of beer back there. She would give anything to ride back there.
20. :Dog_run: My Sister-in-law is driving and she has a small truck so there is no room for him. I will only transport him in his crate, I won't have him jumpin' around for 2 hours. I worry too much about that. Scott and Steph will be home so he will have company.
21. :Dog_run: I am so stupid! I decided to pack for our weekend away before I run out and do a few errands, Re-Run saw the suitcase and he got all excited. He thinks he's coming with us. When I walk out that door without him, he is gonna lose his mind. This is going to break my heart. Maybe Scott will change his mind and decide to come with us, if he does, Re comes with us. I can't believe I did that. All I had to do was close the door, stupid me.
22. :Dog_run: Yay!! I'm sure everything will go well
23. :Dog_run: Poor PJ. Hope he is up and around soon. Vet should have eaten the cost of the second shot as it WAS thier mistake.
24. :Dog_run: I am soooooo happy you decided to adopt from a shelter. :BIG: Sounds like Duke has had such a sad live  Can't wait to see pics!!
25. :Dog_run: Glad your going to the shelter! Make sure you let us know how it goes!!
