Cavs are great dogs, but there is also a congenital heart defect that runs in the breed. That (and the fact that DH is allergic to most dogs) was what led me to avoid the breed. Are you sure that is what the Osbournes have, though? I've never noticed that any of their dogs resembles a Cav.

Great news! I know they will be happy to see him doing well at the humane society :)

How cool! You will have so much fun at the breeder's :)

Chinese Cresteds in need of loving and caring homes!!!
Sanvean replied to Crested's topic in Dogs in need
Oh, they are so sweet, Crested! I wish I could bring one of the li'l angels home! -
Hmmm...usually the one Sharon always has with her is Minnie, the Pomeranian. But maybe Maggie is the one you mean. She's a Japanese Chin: http://www.mtv.com/onair/osbournes/pets.jhtml?pName=maggie Chins are nice little dogs...super cute and very cat-like.

There isn't a word bad enough for people like that. Poor Kinx! I am glad he has you taking care of him now :) (Btw, we wanna see pictures!)

I don't know what the tiger's intentions were...but all I have to say is, if my Janie-cat were 600 pounds, there is NO WAY you would catch me anywhere near the little beast! LOL!

Do you remember me asking for prayers for Charlie awhile ago? He is the dog that we were discussing having to put down, because he was getting more aggressive after being kenneled. One WONDERFUL foster mom asked someone else to take her kitties on a temporary basis (Charlie doesn't like kitties) and has been working super hard with Charlie to make him more adoptable. Well, she just sent me this e-mail from a potential adopter! Hi. I was browsing petfinder.com this morning and stumbled across Charlie, the rott/dane mix. I absolutely fell in love with him and was wondering if he was still available for adoption. If he's not, please send me a note and you can disregard the rest of this email. If he is, I guess I need some more information on your adoption process. First of all, do you adopt out-of-state? I live in central Illinois (but would certainly be willing to drive up to get him). Do you require a fenced-in yard or that I own my own home? I know some rescue organizations do. Here's a little about me. My name is ****. I'm 21 years old, and a senior in Animal Sciences and Psychology at the U of ****. I have wide and varied animal background. I have loved and owned pets all my life. Currently, I have a dog and two cats that live with my parents, and 2 rats that live with me. I have worked at an animal hospital, with a keeshond rescue, at a horse barn, a dog training facility, and have also done some pet-sitting. Additionally, I have had coursework in animal nutrition, behavior, management, and physiology. I know what a huge responsibility pet ownership is, and it is something I take very seriously. I have been hoping to get a dog for a while now, and have just been waiting for the right one to come along. I know Charlie would get a lot of love and exercise (I love long walks!) as well as formal obedience training. I can't wait to hear from you. Thanks, Christina Please pray that this works out! This is Charlie, btw: http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=1762610&adTarget=468doggeneral&SessionID=3f8597b965d58afc-app2&display=&preview=1&row=0&tmpl=

I also love FBFW. I cried when the bunny died, too!

I've seen this site before...DH hates it when I look at it, because I always end up crying. They want $3500 for this poor, terrified-looking Maltese puppy. She doesn't even have the right coloring (her eye rims should be black). A show-quality puppy won't cost more than $2500, and a pet-quality puppy from a GOOD breeder isn't more than $1000 to $1500. How awful. I am very paranoid about leaving Macy unattended because of stories like this.

Lab puppy for sale on ebay... please help

I also reported it. -
I think the blame lies equally with the parents and the pet owner. First, if I had a small child, I would NOT let it play at a neighbor's without me there unless I trusted that neigbor implicitly, especially if that neighbor had pets. Second, if I had a food-aggressive dog, I would work with it. And if my work was not successful, I would certainly NOT let a small child around the dog while it was eating.

I bet they will be fine. If worst comes to worst, kitty will give puppy a swat and he'll learn his lesson. I can't wait to see photos of your new baby!

I feel for the child and the dog. It reminds me of the case where a toddler hugged his grandmother's pit bull after it growled at him in an attempt to "make up" with the dog -- who then attacked him. WHAT are people thinking???

Macy (Veneridge Palsan She's Althat): Her call name was Magic when we got her, but that didn't really do it for me. I was looking for something similar to Magic, because I didn't want to confuse her...I considered Maggie but decided that was too common. I was editing the soap-opera column in the newspaper one day and saw the name "Macy" -- DH and I agreed on that, and that's her name now. Nicknames: Macy May, Macy Marie, Macerino, Little Bit, Honeybug, Baby Girl Nimo: We had the WORST time coming up with a name for him! Finally, my college roommates and I all put it to a vote, and came up with Geronimo (Nimo for short.) Nicknames: Neemers, Neenee, Neener Baneener, Mr. Man Janie: She came with that name. Her foster mom (she was a bottle baby) called her Calamity Jane. Nicknames: Janie Jean, Janie Jean the Beauty Queen, Jane-Jane, Janiecat Pawnee: She also came with that name. Her whole litter had Indian names. Nicknames: Paw, Paw-paw, Pawnee Marie

I'm Catholic, and I LOVE pet blessing services! I wish my church had one :( St. Francis is one of my very favorites! You can read more about him here: http://www.americancatholic.org/Features/Francis/stories.asp Another favorite of mine (another animal lover!) is St. Martin de Porres: http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=306 Btw, here is a DIY pet blessing! LOL! I hope Wrinkles finds a loving home with SOMEone out there!

I remember Cain! He had cherry eye when they found him, right? I remember him being adopted by one of the investigators. I don't know a lot about mastiffs, so I couldn't say if he's one or not. But they probably just figured he was part mastiff and referred to him that way...that's what we do in my rescue group. A dog may be a chihuahua mix, and his information might say he's a chihuahua mix, but we might refer to him (among ourselves) as "Oh, he's the fawn-colored chihuahua."

Well, you could discuss some of the famous and/or heroic pit bulls. There are some good articles here: http://www.pitbullpress.com/ARTICLES/ARTICLES.HOME.html
