I'm going to tell a story now, that I find very appaling. Before I moved, there was a pekinees(I know I spelled that wrong :-? ) that lived down the street from me. The first time the stupid little dog attacked, was halloween, we had taken my best friend's dog, Snicker, trick or treating with us. We came up to the lady's house and when she opened the door to give us candy, the dog ran out. It chased Snicker in circles yapping at her and growling. So the lady FINALLY gets control of her dog and says "He's never done that before, it must be your dog" Snicker was badly shaken, and we took her home. :( Well, to make a long story short, Snicker was attacked twice more, when we were walking her. The lady never had the dog on a leash, and it was always sitting in her yard with her when the attacks happened. Cracker (one of my dogs) was attacked once. Abby was almost attacked, but I had crossed the street when I saw the dog. It ran across the street after me, luckily the woman caught him before he got to Abby(Abby woulda killed the dog, I know it...) Why did I keep walking by the house u ask? Because I wasn't gonna let a little out of control dog keep me from walking my dog in my OWN neiborhood! Finally, the last straw came. This time I was with my friend, and Snicker an Abby. The woman was having some sorta family get together in her back yard, and the dog was outside with the rest of the family, not tied of course. I did not see the dog at first, but as we walked by it came running, right for Abby! Then it saw Snicker, and turned for her. It chased her in circles, while Rachel(my friend) is chasing after her trying to pick her poor dog up. And the lady is chasing after her demon of a dog, and what is the family doing? THEY ARE SITTING THERE LAUGHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN U BELIEVE THE NERVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the time Abby is pulling wildly at her lead, whining, trying to protect Snicker! I could clearly see it in her eyes, that Abby was afraid for Snicker. She knew Snick was in trouble. I shoulda dropped the leash. I shoulda let Abby kill that d*** dog. But, I didn't. I know that wouldn't have solved anything. Finally the lady gets her dog, and shaken we run back to Rachel's house. Well, Rachel's mom drove right down to that lady's house and told her to keep her dog under control, and that she was calling the animal warden. What if a small child had walked by? That dog coulda hurt someone. The animal warden came, and obviously the lady got the point and now keeps her dog under control. :-? The moral of this story? Do not wait till the 3rd or 4th time to do something about a dangerous dog. Be it pekinees or Cane Corso it doesn't matter. Call your animal warden if need be. Most people catch on quite quick if u get the authorities envolved.

How about search and rescue, or maybe therapy work? There's also canine free style, whre u dance with your dog. :) Also, there are non-competitive(sp?) forms of agility, where speed is not a factor, and u just go to have fun. Agility really is a great sport to do, and even if u don't have the fastest dog, so what? Just get out and have some fun! :D

I was just at another day camp last week(I've been going to a lot of day camps this summer), and I was talking to a girl who said that her sister had just gotton a bulldog for $400(is that an average price? :-? ) Anyway, she said her sister wanted to breed her, because u can't find any bulldog breeders around here. I of course, told her that their were already tons of dogs sitting in shelters that needed homes, and that the dog would need to have different tests to rule out any diseases that could be passed to the puppies. (I doubt if her sister would even get the tests done in the first place) I don't think I convinced her it was a bad idea, but at least I tried. Also, I was talking to another girl who said that she wanted to get a black lab, and she wanted it from a breeder. I asked why she wanted it from a breeder, and she said that the dogs at the shelter bite!  I told her that the black labs that we have at the shelter now(we have 2) certainly do not bite, and that if she adopted from a shelter, she'd be saving a life. I don't think she was totally convinced either, and don't get me wrong I don't think that getting a dog from a breeder is a bad thing, but when u are simply getting one fome a breeder because of such a stupid reason.... the child at least needed to know that dogs at the shelter are not bad and they are no worse than any other dog. Sorry to ramble, but some people are VERY ignorant about dogs, and need to do their research...

Cool sites Sanvean! :D Are u catholic? My dad is.... :)

To teach paw on the nose, but a pice of tape on the dog's nose. When he goes to wipe it of with his paw, say whatever u are going to call the trick, and reward him (if u use clicker training u click at that piont) usually a dog catches on fast. :D

That was good-

Cool Rowie! I saw my first one at the SPCA, just a couple of weeks ago. There are a bunch of them in court hold, they were found in a fighting ring! I can't even believe that the city is even considering giving them back!!!! It's so wierd. Some of them will have to be put down( :( ) because they are aggresive, but some are big lovable teddy bears! One kept licking my hand through the cage! They are all so cute! Those big smiles, even though these dogs have been through h***! Oh, I wanted to take them all home, they were so beautiful!!!! :D :D

Well, I was gone on vacation all of last week. While I was gone the dogs had to go to a boarding kennel. My mom said that she wanted to try putting the dogs in the same cage at the kennel, and although I strongly disagreed, the worker that was there said that if he saw any sign of trouble between my two pups, he would immediatly seperate them. So, I gave in in the end, and spent nearly the whole night worring that Abby would hurt Cracker. I called the place in the middle of the week, and to my great suprise and delight, there had been no trouble! :) When we returned, and went to pick up the dogs they were over-joyed to see us, and I was so happy to finally have my puppy dogs back!!!! :D :D I've found that since we got back Cracker has seemed a lot more comfortable(sp?) around Abby. she used to stay out of Abby's way, and act scared around here, since these last few attacks. I think that having the dogs in the same cage really helped! :) They just seem so much more happy around each other. :) Of course, we still have a ways to go in thier relationship, but everything is going well so far! I've been giving Abby all the "firsts" and Cracker doesn't seem to mind. I wanted to update everyone, and thank u all again for helping me! Right now times are good! :D
