1. :-? While I agree with everything Dogpaddle, Aurora and Sanvean said, I think the only thing that is absolutely necessary is: 1. All dog(s) and their primary owner should be required to take a basic obedience class not any earlier than 6 months of age but less than 1 year of age with an evaluation done at 2 years of age. Exception: For known experienced dogs owners/breeders an evaluation on the dog(s) can be done at 6 months, 1 year & 2 years as a substitute for the class. (thinking perk for responsible people here) 2. Anyone interested in breeding must obtain a breeders license. To obtain this license you would be required to take a class on breeder responsibility/ethics and health issues relating to your particular breed. Re-evaluation done every 5 years. Additional classes would be necessary if you decide to change or add to your breed. (This would make it necessary for mills to be licensed in every breed they breed.) Breeders license would require you to adhere to the ethics of your particular breeds mother breed club but not require membership to this club. (thinking about club politics here and while it would be great to make everyone breed only 2 year olds and up, you do need to leave people some freedom of choice, the education class should be enough to teach them why they should wait and there can be some valid reasons to stud a dog that is less than two although personnally I wouldn't.) 3. All dogs except those owned by licenced breeders must be desexed. All dogs would be required to be micro-chipped by either a vet or a licensed breeder to insure return to owner if dog should run off. Repeated offenses of either would carry hugh fines with a 1st time forgiveness clause. (o.k. I know how many pups could still come out of this, but everyone should get a least one chance to comply, plus you need to make an allowance for licensed breeders who don't want a dog desexed before they can see if a possible show/breed fault corrected and/or that this particular placement would be an asset to the breeding program). Second offense would require mandatory desex of dog before release from shelter unless the original breeder will take full responsibility and ownership of said dog if it is an asset to the breeding program. (I'm thinking preservation of existing gene-pool here, this will also encourage breeders to place pups in resposible homes, while making owners aware of the fact that if they don't control their dogs they will lose them) 4. Actual enforcement of existing laws pertaining to dogs and dog ownership.
4. Increased government funding for all dog shelters, with a goal of placing dogs in good homes and instituting subsidized obedience classes for all adopted dogs that need it or owners that need it.
While I agree with this one, I do not feel that it would be necessary since micro-chips and de-sexing would be mandatory and that in itself would decrease the amount of strays in the shelters.
2.
I guess you could call this the POSITIVE side of disliking strangers....
Yeah, I think that's what you would call it.

 Aonir I am sorry that you are in a really tough time right now, please remember that you are still an  for accepting to take care of these kitty's, it is a great deed that you did and to show unconditional love to them so that they did not leave lonely and absent of human kindness.
4. :D What a boy, really enjoyed your site. Keep the pics coming.
5. :D what a great dog. Go Freebee!
6. :D Abs will be fine, that's just what dogs do when they feel the need.
...My cat always finds the rug when he wants to spit up hairballs....
Lucky you court, pumpkin always find it more appealing to do it on my PILLOW.
7. :D Not really much you can do except be with her EVERY minute she's outside. Sally's due to come in heat in the next couple of weeks so remember you won't be alone with this. As far as the spaying in heat, the reason is the chance of serious complications like excessive bleeding or hemmorage are greater when in heat. Just really not worth risk.
8.  Bless your heart. You did everything you could do. Keep your spirits up and take care of tiger, s/he will love you more than any other kitty will. Run free and play hard black kitty.
9. :( Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear you have had such a bad time. Hope everything works out for your friends family. It sounds like Cody is feeling the change in mood at your home and it's affecting him too and he is reacting to it in his own way. Check into seeing if you can find something that vibrates with a remote control, I'm thinking something similar to a shock collar but not something that would hurt him or shock him just vibrate, you could attach it to his collar and train him to respond to the vibrations he feels. Good luck and keep us posted.
10. :-? I would have called the police and reported the incident. This guy might have been testing the tendency of your dog, make it scared of him. There's no telling what was going through his mind to justify what he was doing.
11.   Those are great although this one is completely opposite in my house. Sally & Rocket will follow you around, then chase the lawnmower once your finished they prance around something like this. They love a clean yard. :B-fly:
11. When you pick up the poop in the yard. Do you realize how far behind schedule that puts me?
12. :D We chase snowballs.
13. :D K - The petting sitting financed my friends 2 trips to the Middle East & Europe so that she could take fire-walking classes and become certified to teach fire-walking. Not to mention several pleasure trips abroad.
14. :D I have a friend who does Pet-sitting. She charges anywhere from 25.00 a day and up, depending on how many times a day she goes to the house, what the special needs for the pets are, how many pets, what kinds, and whether or not she is asked to stay the night. She stays booked and has to turn down jobs and refer to other pet-sitters.
15. :D Not sure about aspirin, talk to your vet about Glucosamine chondrotian (shark cartilage) supplements. They really work great for arthritis and HD.
16. My mistake TopDog, didn't read it right.
17. :D I would have to say Lab/BC. He has that happy go lucky expression that the BC has, along with the blue eye and the rose ears. Test him and see if he has any interest in herding, he should still have some herding instinct if it's BC mixed in with Lab.
18. :-? Personally I use pet insurance, but my question is why is the company that you are trying to find out information on listed in your profile as your website, do you work there?
19. Thanks Rowie, didn't even notice that. But who knows there may be someone lurking with the same question. Besides it was good excuse to post pics of my babies.
20. :-? Both Cassie & Courtnek are correct. You really need to reinforce your position in the pack while Dresden is going through adolescence, dogs will constantly test their boundaries in this phase. Sally would get a primadonna attitude every time we came home from a show, at the lake she would act like I didn't even exist when it came to doing her recalls. Constantly reinforcing my position has helped her to be a very respectable camper. I am concerned about the growling and hackling incidents you mentioned. Mainly with the one that involved your sister and Dresden running and peeing on herself. I would suggest that you have her vision checked, if her vision is poor then she would naturally be more defensive in strange or frightening situations.
21. :D Wow what a mix. Your dog should not get any bigger than a Beagle. IG's are little, they're lap dogs. They look like a miniature Greyhound, some people call them miniature's. Here's a pic of my Sandy Notice the scrunchy toy behind her. 22. :D Found some interesting information on this topic while looking up something else. How many of you are having black spots appear and are feeding egg white's. Here's the link: http://www.lifestyleblock.co.nz/articles/560_basic_nutrition2.htm
Other vitamin B-complex These include riboflavin (Vit B2), niacin pyridoxin (Vit B6), pantothenic acid, biotin, folic acid, and vitamin B12. The best supplies are in wheat germ, brewer's yeast, liver and the organ and muscle meats. Under normal feeding there should be no problems, but egg white and sulpha drugs can make them unavailable. "Black tongue" is a defect of the mucous membranes caused by a niacin deficiency. Poor blood clotting can be caused by folic acid deficiency. Riboflavin shortage can cause slow growth, poor appetite and low fertility.
23. :D Welcome back. That was a great story. Did you gets pics while away.
24. :D Here's some more recipe links. http://www.thepoop.com/pooppantry/ http://www.yummyfordogs.org/
