Interstingly, golden retrievers, labs, chesapeke bay retrievers, english pointers have more furred, protected tails than german short hair pointers. Don't know if that might have anything to do with the docking rationale but I thought I'd mention it.

People think I am calling him Havoc, which would be suitable. I got the name from reading a book as a kid, name is supposed to mean "little wolf" or something and also intended to call my dog that when I could get one.

He stole it, I had it first. :eviltongue:

Yes he has a tip broken off one of his teeth with an expossed pulp. Before when I was brushing his teeth I would avoid that tooth and brush the rest but the vet said to give this stuff a go and brush the tooth - big mistake. This vet also has me running in circles over whether or not to do an extraction or root canal. I'm making an appointment with King Animal Clinic - a new vet, because this guy is not so good - he was also the one who told me to "wait and see" regarding the broken tooth tip. The video you posted a link to is pretty good, and for Zaphod that would work well but Kavik has ZERO food motivation, I might be able to adapt the method to work for him though.

Huh, now this had me thinking. Zaphod has been inexplicably panting a couple times in the last week and half and he also has been letting the stinkiest doggy farts rip. I knew the Innova was giving him a bit of gas but I never thought of it causing him discomfort. Some one else here recently switched to Innova and said the dog was a bit gasy but it cleared right?

After the last vet visit regarding Kavik's tooth the vet gave me a special tooth gel that was suppossed to keep it all clean and numb the pain. Well I used it twice and now Kavik is terrified of having his teeth brushed - I cannot brush them at all. Definately need a new vet.

They tried to tie a "potentially dangerous" dog bylaw onto the bylay changes here. I am afraid they will think that by scraping the breed ban that they are doing everyone a huge favour and think they can get that "potentially dangerous" bit by. Its a huge crock with so many problems I can't begin to rip it apart. I will only say that this bit is the scariest part "if a dog APPEARS THREATENING" it can be listed as a potentially dangerous dog - what the hell does that meen APPEAR and THREATENING and to whom?!
-
Technically the Italian big list of dogs is not banned strictly speaking. It is a potentially "threatening" dog list. You have to be approved to own one, can't be under 18 or have a criminal record, the dog has to be muzzled all the time, you have to have big liability insurance etc. Load of crap if you ask me. I wonder what dogs AREN'T on the list?

Wow, bloat, that is serious. Good that you went in. What is stapling?
-
Sometimes yes, sometimes no, depends on what it is and if they've been begging - because if they have there is no way. Now if they've been lying close, studiously looking the other way to indicate they are not begging - well that's ok.
-
You can definately count Italy out they are closing in on 100 banned breeds.

Kavik is unneutered and has never marked in our house or anyone's house he's visited and he is almost 3 years old. However, he does not live with unspayed females and has never bred. He did mark, or attempt to, in the vet office once after sniffing about very interestedly - I suspect he found some old scent he felt he had to deal with. Outside is a whole other storey - I don't think he has peed in over 2 years if it wasn't also marking. Desexing goes along way to preventing unwanted markings but housetraining plays a role as well. No point not desexing a dog that isn't going to breed or doesn't need to be intact for show purposes though.

Are Innova & California Naturals really the best dog foo

Innova is going well except I may have to reduce Zaphod's portions a bit. He has been on straight Innova for a week and was on increasing ratios of it for over a week before that. He is starting to get "padded." I can just barely make out his waist from above and his tuck is starting to disappear too. He is 23 inches to the shoulder, medium boned and currently up to 67lbs. He is picking up weight fast enough that its noticable so I'll nip it in the bud now. Too bad though, I confess to liking him looking a padded, more teddy bear like. -
The fact that is sporadic is a little more reassuring. Not so much an emergancy perhaps but I'd still make an appointment but not a rush one unless things change. Maybe its not actually related to food and it just coincindently happened after he ate? Let us know what happens.
-
So every time you feed him this happens? If so I would go to the vet, if yours is busy see another. If it was just the salmon I would say food allergy, if it was just once I would guess his tummy was off or mild food poisoning. Maybe test by giving him a very small serving of chicken and rice.
-
Very nice. And a freind for Majie. He is a solid, handsome fellow.
-
The rolls are definately awsome for treats or little dinner add-ons.
-
Are you feeding the food rolls or something else by Natural Balance?
-
Try throwing and having him retriever, tell him good, keep the treat mostly in your fingers/hand, let him nibble/lick at the edges when he retrieves and then throw again. Only treat every other time then every third time and so on, letting him nibble/lick in between.
-
Natural Balance is pretty good stuff. I've not seen their organic line but their canned stuff is pretty good, their food rolls, at least the ones I've seen have added suger and salt which I'm not keen on but otherwise I think their fine.

That's the one. Thanks! This is a pretty useful way to evaluate a potential dog food Candy. Its certainly not the only way of course and some of the points may be debated one way or another but it gives you a rough idea. Nutro isn't bad it just isn't as good IMO. Some people have concerns over the sources and quality of their ingredients which is not something that is easy for the consumer to get info on or evaluate. -
Glad to hear the new vet is working out. Poor Taurus . . . but sooo cute.

Mmmmm . . . morphine . . . :tard:
and I was willing to accept his "non-lovingness"...he is now repaying it back in full.
I don't really like catz enough to get one as a pet yet somehow I have two who I somehow adore. And with my Mroo it is precisely the snotty, bitchy, feisty "non-lovingness" that I appreciate. I know I won't be getting another c@t as a pet for myself again (but who knows what will show up at my door) but I truley hope to keep mine around for a good long time. Here's hoping Pushy lasts well into his 20's.
