Bella is starting to get impossible!!! Whenever I go somewhere that she can't follow me to (like the bathroom) she starts to whine and scream behind the door! The same happens when I go to the shower or when I take Ben out. So whenever I go somewhere, she sits behind the door and whines and screams. I'm clueless on what to do and on what's going on. It seems like she has to know where I am at all times. This is very good outside. I can keep her offleash on our yard without beeing afraid she's going to run away. Whenever I go behind the house corner so that she can't see me, she runs as fast as she can to the direction where she saw me the last time she looked. But what should I do with this thing inside the house? I mean... Where ever I go she follows (it can be quite cute though...) and if she can't go wherever I'm going, she whines and screams. Is something wrong with her? Or me? /Crest
I feel as if this is all a dream. I never expected THIS. I really want to wake up now. Who to believe? I don't know the full story? What exactly happened here? The first thing I thought of was "proof". I would really like some proof. What happened at the other forum? So far, Nic has been wonderful. :-? What has she done in the past?
I feel the same way! I don't understand this at all! It doesn't seem like Nic is somekind of troll... That's just my honest oppinion. Mabye I'm naive, but I think she's an OK person actually. If I have to be completely honest, I have to say I haven't met a single person on dogo who wouldn't be nice. Does anyone have any accurate proof about Nic doing theese things? Because the way things are now, I believe Nic. And for me to stop believing her, I need proof, because I believe in the "inocent untill proven guilty" -thing. And atleast for now, I feel Nic is inocent. /Crest

You're not an idiot Courtnek! :D I speak Finnish and Sweedish without any problems. And english too I guess.. And then I can a few sentences in German and a few words in French, Spanish and Italian. See this is my best in German: Ich kannst nicht virstande Deuch so viele, aber ich wirstande Deuche ein bissien... I told you I wasn't good!!

I personally love dogo! I've learned so much around here and I don't think I will ever leave. People have to hurt me bad for me to leave this place. The reason for that is that I feel so comfortable here. Actually I feel more comfortable here then in my own home, wich is weird. This is the place I feel understood and cared and yes, loved. I'm going throgh really rough changes right now... I'm thinking of moving, but don't have the money. I'm thinking of leaving school, because I don't think I can handle the stress for much longer, but when I come here, it helps me relax and think of something else besides school, stuff I have to do, and overall stress. If I wouldn't have dogo, I don't know where I would go. I want to thank EVERYONE at dogo for beeing there for me! You mean the world for me. And mabye I someday find the courage to speak english for the very first time with someone instead of writing. I respect Dal's decition to go, but I hope you will think it over. :) I wish you all the best and give each of your dogs a big bearhug and a kiss from me. :D /Crest

Ok... I found the post. I don't really know what to say... Ben can react the same way if someone comes in wich he of some reason is scared of, but he growls and barks from a distance. I still stand by what I said. Please come back! I really believe everyone on that post had the best intentions, allthough, I must say, they could have said it a bit more softly. Everyone had good points, but no one was there exept you. No one knows your dogs as you do. No one's been there for your dogs the way you've been. So I think there was some misunderstandings in that thread. And I don't think you should leave for that. I'm sure everyone is very sorry. If you are going to leave, then I would still like to talk to you sometimes. What's your msn address? /Crest

NOOOOO!! PLEASE DAL DON'T LEAVE!!! Can someone please send this message to Dal? Please? I don't know what's been going on, but I know about the sensitive -part. I left a Finnish dog forum before for a good 6 months, because of the very same thing. Do you know why? Because I was litterally called a "bad dog owner". According to some of them I (quote) "torture my dogs". Now I've gone back and I've even become a moderator on that very same place. They have changed the forum since when I left, so I'm hoping this will not happen again. If someone ever calls me something like that in there ever again, I will leave and this time for good. Right now I'm giving them a second chanse. When I left the forum, I was so hurt. I cried so many nights because of the hurtfull things they told me. I'll start from the beginning: I once asked them what it ment to become a breeder. I wanted to know more about breeding and I was literally stoned with insults. They told me I would never become a good breeder, because my idea of life is a dance on roses. (wich is not true) The thread become over 200 posts long and no matter how hard I tried to explain that I just want to know more about breeding, it was useless. So I lost my temper at the two biggest bullies from that forum. I allso wanted to become a moderator, because it had been a dream of mine for so long. One day I got an e-mail that said that the forum would love to have me as their moderator. The next day they sent me another e-mail saying they can not take me as a moderator, because they want someone with a "better reputation". That was the last straw. I told them to freeze my account, because I would never come back again. Now, six months later, I haven't had a single hurtfull thing said to me... So I've given them a second chanse. And as I told you before, if someone hurts me in some way again. I will definately leave and never look back. See, something good did come out of the fact that I left the forum. I found dogomania. Ever since, I've been coming here! I personally don't know what it's like to live with a deaf dog, but I think it's fantastic that someone has the courage and the streangth to do that. The relationship you described you have between you and Cody is absolutely fantastic! I envy you! I wish you all the best and I hope you would think again. People aren't that bad here. Actually, they are much, MUCH better then on the finnish forum I was on. The reason for that is, that in here there are more adults. On the finnish forum, most of the people are just about 13!! PS: Could I read this post where the whole thing began, because I have no clue on what's going on? /Crest

I've noticed that Bella doesn't like her dry food soaked. I've been giving her the food dry sometimes (not all of it, but a little). That's when she eats it! So, do you think I can give her the food dry or should I make it wet? Is there any bad sides to giving dry food to a puppy? Good sides? Thanks! /Crest

I was again surfing on Crest-Care's page and found theese poor dogs that have been abused! :( Please! If I would have the possibility, I would take one of them myself, but I don't! So please, look at them and see if you have a little hole in your home that could fit a little Chinese Crested! Tasha and Skeeter are seven year old sister and brother. They are very bonded and must be adopted together. Skeeter is very athletic but is a lover too. He loves to play with his little ball. He thinks he is a big watchdog and barks at anyone passing by the house! Tashie has some health issues which might cause problems later on. The worst being a herniated disk in her neck. She is very good at protecting it but can not be bumped into. Tashie also has a luxated patella in one knee and arthritis. She is a very demanding little sweetie. She has to sleep in bed with you under the covers and she has to be in your lap if you are sitting down. She will paw you until you let her. They can not be in a home with children or rambunctious pets. They are not candidates to be flown. If you have a lot of love to give, these are the two for you Happy- He is an adorable hairless, 6-month-old male who came to us with trust issues, due to having been abused in a puppy mill. He is getting more adventurous and trusting everyday. He enjoys going hiking in the mountains, he is an active outdoorsy dog who likes to sleep with his humans at night. For a puppy he is very well behaved and will be a protective and loyal companion for the right person. His ideal home would be active people who want a dog to tag along with them to the mountains or beach or just around the block. He is being fostered in Nevada. Petey - He is a handsome, silver colored, 8 year old, true hairless, 7 pound male, with special needs. He suffered from abuse at some time and has an old badly healed break on one of his front legs that he is on rimadyl for. He also has luxating patella's that he takes anti swelling medicine for. He was hopping around on two legs for a while but with the medication seems to help and he is now getting around very well. In spite of all his troubles he is a very cheerful happy little guy. His ideal home would be with someone who wants to carry him around and give him lots of love. Petey has had a hard life and deserves as much love as possible. He needs a soft pillow in the sun and a lot of affection. He gets along great with other dogs and cats; however, since he is so fragile he will not be placed in a home with a puppy, large dog, or children. He needs to go to a home with a warm, dry climate. He is being fostered in Nevada. Butch is a white, male 21lb powder puff, he is 1.5 yrs old and stands 17" at the shoulder. He will need a special family as he is very noise sensitive and fearful. Because of this, he can NOT be shipped. He would like to have a submissive playmate in his new home but no small children. He will chase after cars along the fence if left alone in the yard or when walking on leash. Butch will whine when he wants something but is not much of a barker. He needs a lot of love and patience and is learning to trust people and tolerate noises. Butch is housetrained. If you think you have the time and patience to help Butch learn to trust again, go to our website (Owner App Form) and fill out a Prospective Owner Application. He is being fostered in PA. Contact Jeanne for more information. Diana - She is an adorable, 6 pound, approximately 6 year old, true hairless female, who came into rescue in July 2003. She was found as a stray and taken by Crest-Care from a shelter after no one claimed her and her ten days were up. Diana bonds quickly with her human, but is leery of those that she doesn't know well, and tends to be a one person dog. She can be quite fierce about protecting her territory, but with only a few teeth, her bark is much worse than any bite she could every give. Diana has a condition called

Bella is a monster!!! A very smart and cute monster. If Ben gets a treat. Bella scares him so that he drops it from his mouth so that she can get it. If Ben plays with the active ball and Bella joins the fun. Ben rolls the ball and she eats the treats. Ben's going out. Bella scares him to death and goes out herself. Bella plays with Ben. She sees to it that he turns his back on her and then she jumps on his back so that Ben jums half a meter up in the air only because he's so (bleep) scared of her. Ben tries to sleep. She sees the opportunety to see him jump once more! Ben and Bella get a marrow bone each. Ben doesn't think it's any good but Bella LOOOOOOOOVES hers. Ben thinks hers must be much better then his and tries to get it from her. She growls at him and shows that it's her bone and her alone. After wich she takes Ben's bone and chews on the two instead of just one. When Ben tries to get his own back, Bella gets mad at him and scares him to death! ...after wich she goes and eats the bones again. Now both are hers. So... what to do? Ben seem's to be really blue when he can't even eat without her scaring him to death. She eats HIS food just to tease him. So Ben can't sleep, go out, eat, have treats or play without Bella jumping up on him. He gives up everything and then he's really sad about it. What should I do? /Crest

Thank you, thank you! She's my pride and joy! Everyone's telling me what a great show dog she will be. Let's hope, let's hope! :) I'm still a little bit worried about her teeth (she has two teeth a bit "crooked" and two teeth missing, but that might sort itself out when her mouth gets bigger and she looses her milk teeth). Besides of the teeth, I'm not worried at all about her show carreer. She's happy, fearless (and I mean it!!!) and bubbly. :) Love her to bits! /Crest

I just updated Ben's and Bella's homepage. Or actually I updated Bella's page and gallery. ;) I have allso theese two pictures of Ben and Bella together (the only two so far) that I don't know where to put. Any ideas? The first one is on the front page on http://personal.inet.fi/koti/crested/eng/index2.html (that's the straight way to the english version) Click on Bella on the left sidebar to get to her page or pedigree under her name to see her pedigree or gallery under that to see her gallery. What do you think of my baby? /Crest

Black GSD: I can go out whenever I want, but when Bella goes out he panicks. I took them today out together and Bella started to play with Ben so none of her "buissnesses" were done. :(
-
Ben has started to get really attatched to Bella allthough he still doesn't want to play with her. He goes and smells her when she's sleeping. Now everytime I let Bella out on our yard Ben panicks! He runs around the house from window to window screaming! He screams from the top of his lungs when he sees Bella outside! When she comes in, he runs to her to see if she's ok. It's weird, but it's not fun to see him that way. He even tried to jump through the window glass yesterday. I know I have to go out with Bella, but how can I do that without Ben panicking? Any ideas? /Crest

courtnek: I'm allergic allso. VERY allergic actually. I'm allergic to pets, dust, pollen, spices, herbs, fruits, berries, vegetables, perfume and many other things. A bee sting is lethal for me. See I have this thing called Epi-Pen just in case. It's an injection I have to put in my leg if I get a bad allergy reaction. This gives me 15 more minutes to get to the hospital before my throat swollens up and I sufficate. The only problem is that while most of allergic peoples blood pressure goes down with an allergic reaction, mine goes up. WAY up. And this Epi-Pen allso rises blood pressure. So... If my bloodpressure goes dangerously high with a bad allergic reaction and then I put the Epi-Pen in, then I risk having a blood vain burst in my brain and die. So... If lets say I get stung by a bee, I have to choose if I want to sufficate to death or get a bleeding in the brain and die of that. Nice choises, huh? Now you wonder why I tell you this...? Well, just to illustrate that allergies are my life. Literally. So if I get even a little indication that Bella's got allergies, ofcourse I'll take care of it!! No question about it! But this is her first ever ear infection. If it starts coming over and over again, that's a new story, but this is the first time. The reason why I got angry at the vet was that he had this "I know everything, you know nothing" -thing going on. Come on... if every vet comes and says: "It's allergy" like they know for 100% certanty by only massageing the dogs ears, how many dogs in the world are then allergic?? If he would have checked her ears, taken a skin scrape, SOMETHING to proof what he THINKS, then I would have believed him. But isn't it possible that because this is her first ever ear infection, it's just an ear infection and nothing more? scotty_lvr: Bella's doing much better. She hasn't been eating THAT much recently, but I think it's because she's been here for only 4 days now. Yesterday she ate nearly everything I put out for her and food from Ben's bowl. See, the big brother's food is MUUUUUUUCH better then her own. /Crest
Did the Vet look down the ear canal with the otoscope?
That's just it. He didn't!! Plus the ear was not red in any way, I just saw that it irritated Bella and didn't want to wait for it to become infected or something. The ONLY thing what he did was feel her ears and after I told him that her ear smelled a bit he smelled her ear VERY quickly. Hmm...
(they are in the same clinic, arent they???)
No... They aren't at the same clinic. Not even in the same town. I live in a small town where there's not any real "hospitals", just single vets with their own clinic where they work by them selves. (The nearest real hospital is about 130-150km from here)
Actually that's not the case with dogs. Most folks who have dogs with food allergies go through elimination diets just to try to figure out what the heck their dog is allergic to. They can't tell by observing the dog's eating habits, the dogs will just eat what's offered and suffer the consequences.
I've heard that the dogs that have allergies often don't eat because they are afraid to get some kind of allergic reaction. This is true with Ben and this is what info I've got.
My point is that it wont hurt to have the skin/scratch tests done, just to make certain. And it may save you a lot of money in the long run...
But how can a skin test help anything when she hasn't got anything showing up on her skin. Her skin is fine, no allergic reactions there... nothing. My point is that the vet did the diagnosis by just touching the ears (massageing) and believe me or not, it seemed like he had made a diagnosis before we even stepped into the clinic. /Crest

Ok, I've tried a couple times allready to anwser, but because of storms, the power goes on and off, so I've not been able to send a single message yet. I hope this goes through... The reason why I don't believe the vet is that the ONLY proof of allergies he had to go on is the mear fact that Bella licks her paws after scratching. I know that dogs who have allergies do that, because Ben does the same. It's just that when she licks her paws, it's a couple licks to see what in the world that smell is that comes from her ear (because her nose can't reach her ear ). See, he didn't take any tests, he didn't do anything exept feel her ears and ask if she licks her paws. When I told him yes, he told me straight away it's allergy! And that's what makes me mad. How can a vet, ANY VET just feel an ear ask if she licks her paws and make a 100% diagnosis that it's allergies?? And to think that the paw licking was his ONLY -and I repeat, ONLY- proof that she's allergic, makes me not only suspicious of the vet's skills but allso very mad. I've been constantly in contact with the breeder and the last time I talked to her was yesterday and the last mail I receved was today. I'm very glad that I have a breeder that is interested in Bella and her well beeing, when I have no contact with Ben's breeder after I got him payed. There have been many questions I would have wanted to ask Ben's breeder, but never got the anwser to because the breeder just didn't seem to care. This made me first really upset and now just sad to think that she doesn't care. I do keep an open mind when it comes to the health of my dogs. Absolutely! Nothing is more important to me then my babies! When Ben got his allergies and I went to the vet, it was so obvious he had allergies and she had proof to back her theories up too wich made me very comfortable and made me trust her so much, that she's the vet I go to every time. Now she had been on holiday and didn't have time before wednesday and I didn't want to wait that long IF Bella would get problems with her ears during that time. Then I went to this vet that I had never seen in my entire life. I do agree that it's good that he tells people the basics, but he should have listend to me. I wasn't argumentetive at all. Actually I've noticed that I can see peoples personas when they can talk without me makeing my ideas heard. This way I can see exacly what they think without having my thoughts mixed into the "soup". When he had told me like for the fifth time that it's allergies and that I have to change the food (wich I told him I was planning to do with or without allergies at the first time he told me the diagonosis) that's when I spoke up and told him that I strongly believe that it's not allergies. I told him I have an allergic dog at home and I know what dog allergies are, because I've done a lot of research. He just turned his back at me and mumbled: "Well let's just hope that's it". Not too long afterwards he again started repeating it's allergies and that I have to change the food. So... if he would have had facts, something to make his suspicions real like a swab from the ear and the test result of that or something I would have believed him, but he had nothing else but the fact that she lickes her paws a couple times after scratching and that's it. She doesn't go on licking and licking and licking the paws never letting them be alone. She licks them a couple times to see what's the smell and when she gets her anwser that's it. Bella's breeder is in my eyes a very good and responsible breeder and I can proudly say I have a puppy from one of her litters. :) /Crest
-
Mary's mama: Yeah, she COULD have allergies, but I do not think she has them. See... She eats EVERYTHING, she's happy, she's energetic nothing like Ben who is afraid to eat anything he doesn't know, because of his allergies. Dogs that have allergies often don't even eat much, because they of some reason know that if they eat "A" the result will be "B". Bella again eats EVERYTHING! She even tries to eat small rocks and sand!!! :o (I know, she's weird!) The fact that Bella's mom had an ear infection while having the puppies makes me 100% sure she has it too. The breeder told me allso when I went to pick her up that she might have cought mommy's ear infection. So I knew about it. This allso was a big part of my so called "diagnosis". Isn't it pretty obvious? The mommy has an ear infection and a puppy of that litter catches it? Atleast I think it's clear. This vet just seemed to be SUCH AN IDIOT because he told me not to give her anything from the table, not to let her eat anything else exept her food and not to let her eat anything outside. If every dog that has an ear infection gets diagosed as an allergic dog, then nearly every dog in the world is allergic! So many dogs get ear infections and I think it's only a couple that have allergies as the root to the problem. Another thing that made this vet really incomtient was the fact that he thought I didn't know ANYTHING about deworming or vaccinations. He even suggested that I would NOT go out on walks with Bella. Not even around the block. AND IT WOULD BE BEST NOT TO LET HER OUT AT ALL BEFORE HER VACCINATIONS!!! After this he said that to his knowledge there are no parvo or other epidemies around here, but "just to be on the safe side". Am I supposed to keep Bella locked up untill she's 16 weeks? Am I supposed to start teaching her to walk nicely in a leash when she's 16 weeks and not a day before that??? I think using a little common sence will get you pretty far. I mean... Ofcourse I'm going to let her out! Ofcourse I'm going to take her on walks, but not let her smell any dogs droppings or other pets etc. I mean... there was an 11 week old puppy at this caravan place I went to with my parents and Ben a couple weeks ago and the puppy just was there with them, saw other people and other dogs and that's it. I would feel safer to keep going on walks in an enviroment I feel is safe for her, then to take her to a camping place where mabye houdreds of dogs go to every year! And the fact that he said that the BREED has allergies without knowing the breed says a lot of this vet too. Don't you agree? /Crest
-
Mary's mama: I KNOW she's not allergic. I talked to the breeder (who I can proudly call my friend) and she says the same. Bella's NOT allergic!! I mean... if a puppy's ear itches, ofcourse she starts rubbing it with her paw, then it comes the smell from the ear on her paw. Ofcourse she licks that smell off the paw!! The ear itches and OFCOURSE she shakes her head! It's unfortunate that your dog had that kind of allergies and I'm very sorry about that and I don't see your post as a contradiction, but I KNOW she's not allergic, the breeder who's had her since day one KNOWS she's not allergic and both of us KNOW it's just an ear infection. And the fact that he said that it's a problem with the BREED not even knowing what breed she is says a lot. If Bella's got allergies because she's got an ear infection, then I'm not a human, I'm a chimpansee!!
-
Ok... I was at the vet with Bella because he wanted to see her. He wasn't the vet I usually go to, but I didn't want to wait untill wednesday to get her checked out. He checked her ears out and just after massageing them for about 30 seconds he said that he believes it's allergies. He started asking what kind of food she eats, has she eaten it all the time etc. He treated her ear infection (and I KNEW for a fact that it was an ear infection. I made the diagnosis myself, because it was just so clear! First of all she couldn't leave her ear alone, she was shakeing her head all the time AND her ear smelled. I know an ear infection when I see one!!!!). Then he started saying I should change her food because she's allergic to it. I told him I was going to change her food to Nutro anyway and he praised that food. After a while he started to tell me again to change the food, because she's allergic to it. I AGAIN repeated the same; that I was going to change her food anyway with or without allergies. It didn't go long before he told me Bella shouldn't eat anything from the table, the floor, Ben's bowl, the ground etc. and I AGAIN told him that I KNOW she's not allergic! Then he started to tell me about deworming and vaccinations (when to deworm and vaccinate). I told him I KNOW and that I have a two-year-old at home, but he still thought I needed to know all of that AGAIN. AAAAAARGH!!!! Then he told me allso that I should go in an allergy test with both Bella and Ben. WHY CAN'T HE UNDERSTAND THAT THE ONLY REASON BELLA HAS PROBLEMS WITH HER EAR FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HER LIFE IS THAT HER MOTHER HAD GOT AN EAR INFECTION A LITTLE WHILE AGO AND THAT THE PUPPIES GOT IT FROM HER (don't know about the other four puppies, but atleast Bella got it)??????? And guess another thing he said... that s"kin allergies are problems of that breed"!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!! BELLA DOES NOT, AND I REPEAT NOT, HAVE ALLERGIES!!!! I'm allergic, Ben's allergic and I've read and experienced a lot off allergies and I know allergy when I see it allso!!! SHE'S NOT ALLERGIC!!!! Sorry about this post... I just really needed to vent! Thanks. /Crest

Bella, the world's most adorable Chinese Crested is home!!
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
Thanks everyone!! :D I agree with the fact that she's a :lilangel:! We'll be heading tothe vet in about an hour and she just woke up. :) By the way... Ben is starting to slowly get the "top dog in the family" -position. :D
