Bella lost her second tooth today! :D And I got it!! Now I've got it saved. I have still all of Ben's teeth - I mean the ones that I found on the floor etc. so I don't have ALL of his teeth... :o ;) I was a bit nervous with the first tooth, because it wasn't THAT loose and another one was pushing in front of it already, but luckilly nature did what it was supposed to. :D So now Bella is getting toothless! :o (yipes) But she looks kind of funny with only four teeth on the lower front jaw when she plays, because when she looks at me in the "hey-mom-it's-time-to-play" -kind of way, she always opens her mouth and "smiles". So now you see a gap on the left side of the right bottom corner tooth! My toothless baby! :D Oh, I nearly forgot... I took some pictures today.... wanna see?

Can't you wire your phone or something, so that if he calls you and starts to verbally abuse you, you would have some proof for the police? Or if he ever comes to your house or you see him, you always carry a tape recorder so you can catch every word of his on tape? Put security cameras up, so that if something happens, the police will have the evidence to lock him up for good? Just take care of yourself and the tape recorder or video would be a good idea if you ever do have to protect yourself. And keep 911 on speed dial! Aargh...! I'm all out of ideas now.... :( Just take care and be safe! Promise you'll look after yourself and your son! He's only one year younger than me...

Oh, I forgot... But Ben is mostly called Benny now (for some reason) and allso sausage dog (don't ask), terminator, dum-dum and many other names. And Bella got her Bellushka when she was like four weeks old... :D And allso Bee-bop, Boo-boo, termite and many others... :D

Well for me it went like this: I was searching for a girl puppy and when I then found a breeder she didn't have any girlies left, but they had a boy. I loved the name Benjamin, but thought it was too long so it became Ben. I allso wanted a name that was easy to spell correcly in both Finnish, Swedish and English so... Ben fit that picture perfecly! And so that's how Ben got his name. Bella on the other hand... wow... That was hard. I again wanted a name that could be spelt again in Finnish, Swedish and English and this time it had to be a girl name. I was thinking of Trixie, Meg, Maria and many others but then... What about... Be... Be... Bel... Bella! Ben and Bella. It fits nicely doesn't it. And when I saw the pic of my baby it was like magic. Her name was going to be Bella and that's it! So that's hoe Ben and Bella got the names Ben and Bella! ;)

The Christmas tree and two dogs??? HELP!
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
OMD, Crested! long time no see... where have u been? is it just me or have u been away? well WeLcOmE bAcK! and if im wrong, and you've been on frequently, then just tape a sign that says "IDIOT" on my forehead
I've not been away, just been busy. I've got four exams on monday, so I've been really just reading, reading, reading and reading. So now I've come here to just relax a few minutes before I continue again. (wich has actually helped) But I haven't been on that much that's for sure! :( And I hate the fact that I haven't had time to come and check the posts here! But now I promise I'll do better! Thank you for the "welcome back" but in my heart I never left, if that makes it a little better. ;) I am and always will be a dogomaniac! It's in my blood (believe it or not). ;-) /Crest -
Thank you! I will have to try that!! But we have only pretty small ice pieces, so I'm afraid what will happen if she tries to swallow one... Do I need to worry about that?

I have a problem with Bella. She bites... and doesn't stop. It's a game for her. She bites everyone. I understand that when puppies are teething they tend to bite and I accept that - BUT she bites even guests (wich sometimes are little children). She isn't angry or aggressive in any way. She bites and kisses, bites and kisses with her tail wagging at all times. I've tried everything from NO to screaming in agony when she does (a bit theatrical for everyone watching but did wonders with Ben who did the same in her age). Nothing helps. So, I need some advice badly. I don't want this to go out of hand, because she's even started biting Ben. Today she bit him in the bum while he was sleeping, poor guy. She has bones - lots of them! I even give her pigears and pig skin rolls a little now and then and both Ben and Bella LOVE them. They eat them as long as they can untill there is only a little piece left (wich I then take away from them and throw away, because I've heard of dogs who have choked on the last little piece trying to get it down. So they only eat them under supervision.) Do you have any ideas on what to do, because I'm clueless. (right now I have a little "boo-boo" on my hand from one of Bella's teeth) Now I'm off to bed! Thank you a million already in advance!

They are adorable! :D Do a crestie, do a crestie, do a crestie!! :D

I'm going with Mouse! It's sick to take a deposit before a litter is even born and then say "well, we didn't have any puppies of the color/gender/etc. that you wanted. Too bad, you loose your money." I think the breeder only is thinking of the money. I mean... How can you know how many deposits that person is taking. Let's say he takes 30 deposits. That's 30 x 500! That's 15 000!! And yet, no puppies! The idea of having a deposit is that the person paying it, can't suddenly change his/her mind and say: "no, I don't want that puppy anymore". Because then the breeder have to start the search for a new home for this unwanted unlucky poor thing. It's not for the breeder to make money with without even selling any puppies. Here in Finland, the deposit for both my dogs have been 100 euros (wich is about the same in $) and Ben was sold as a pet dog for 500 or so (can't remember the exact sum in euros as we had the Finnish marks at that time and then it was 4000 Finnish marks) and Bella as a show dog for 1000 euros. The highest price for a crested that I have heard is 1200! And the deposit comes out of that price! So if we take Bella as an example it's 1000 minus 100 euros. I don't know what breed you have decided, if it's very rare or not, but I'd really suggest you search for another breeder.
hahah, that may be what you heard, but that certainly isn't what I am hearing. Would they have changed it? I heard something about "Guys showing off. Let's not forget us. I'm still single, any takers." It sounded all jumbled.
That's what I heard too... :-?

The Christmas tree and two dogs??? HELP!
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
Thanks for your advice! The whole tree thing is a bit problematic for me because Bella is really into balls... And because she's teething - everything goes. I'm a bit worried because she's got this one tooth that is coming in front of a milk tooth that is rocking back and forth, but not coming off. I'm doing my homework and I'm up to my neck in studying. I have four exams on Monday, so Ben and Bella are going to a doggy "hotel" for that day, so I don't have to worry about the fact that they'll be alone home for all that time (my school is 100km away from my doorstep, so my mum and dad are coming with me (dad drives as I don't have my drivers licence yet) so they get to spend some time just the two of them, wich they desurve, because I can't remember the last time they had some quality time just between the two of them. Hmm... I might have been about 8 or something when they last went to a party together. The last time my mom invited me aswell, so...). Oh, and what do I have exams in? (kough, kough) Religion, Geography, Psycology and English! Yay! Oh, how I love school... Let me count the ways... Luckilly I don't have to worry about school after monday untill next year, so I'll get some time to BREATHE. :D I just came on here to take a small pause and a little breether. Nearly done my Geography now. (Done the Religion and Enlgish allready, so things are looking a bit brighter. Psycology is tough though... Tried that allready and got myself in a tangle. Anyone good in psycology, please HELP!!) Ok, but now a little something to give me energy (it's 3am) and then I'm off. I'm determend to get the Geography done today!! -
I have to ask as Christmas is coming closer... What experiences do you have of a puppy who's teething and interested in everythin + an adult dog who likes to do everything the puppy does? In other words, have you had troubles keeping the Christmas tree up? (We usually put the tree up the day before Christmas so help is needed)

I don't know what to do... Ben's been acting weird lately. He doesn't want to play that much, he just wants to be alone, he sleeps nearly the whole day... AND HE DOESN'T POOP!! Yesterday I wasn't so worried yet, but today when it's going over 24 hours, I'm beginning to get worried. What could be the problem? I think that it could be that he has now finally noticed that Bella is going to be with us now and forever so he'd just better get used to it. I believe this, because when I played a little with him in the bed when he was waking up, he did want to play, but because Bella was screaming on the bed side, because she wanted to play with us too. He always changed his possition so that his back side was facing Bella. So he wanted to play, but didn't want to share my attention. So is this because of Bella or is it something serious?

I got the bottle and it's been a hit... well... for Bella anyway... To attract Ben I put some very sticky toffee on it (because Ben loves it) wich gets harder when it's left there, so it's hard to lick off. Now Bella is like glued to it, but Ben couldn't care less! Well, hopefully he'll get the idea soon. He did take a sip from it when I held it in my hand and litterally bottle feeded him! (sigh) Well, it's a dog's life!

I have to try that! Thanks!

Ben doesn't drink much, but I've heard that's what most of hairless cresties do, so I don't worry too much. But when he does drink, he seems to get more water on the floor then in his mouth. Bella on the other hand doesn't loose a single drop from her mouth, but when Ben drinks it seems like there has been a water pipe that has broken. Ben's two years old and he's done this all his life. Now I've noticed that he gets dehydrated sometimes, so I kind of "bottle feed" him with one of thoose things you get with mixture antibiotics... You know? Today I gave him water like five minutes ago and he drank 30ml !!! I noticed that he started to get dehydrated, but it wasn't in any way severe. Just a little, so no harm done. But still... I keep wondering... WHY CAN'T HE DRINK NORMALLY?? Any ideas? I don't mind "bottle feeding" him water, no problem. But still... I can't help wondering why. /Crest

I'm not really a sauna person, but I do enjoy sitting there in the heat. It's very relaxing and I usually go there when I feel stressed and need some relaxing and getting away from the stress. Well anyway... Today I decided to go and so I asked dad to put the sauna on for me and so he did. After it had heated up I got this crazy idea... I would take Bella to the sauna and see what she thinks of it. Ok, said and done, I picked Bella up and went in the sauna. When I first threw a little water into the thing we kall "kiuas" (a kind of mechanical thing that heats up with stones on it that allso heat up. You throw water on the stones and the water becomes steam while making this "schhhhhhhhhh" -sound. So it becomes very steamy and hot) Bella kind of jumped up thinking "what the heck was that?!?!". Then after a couple times of water throwing, she noticed it became warmer and warmer every time. She started to relax and yawn and she started to REALLY like it. She LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED the sauna! :D She bundled up in my lap and sat down to just enjoy. It was so nice to watch!! Then the temperature started to really rise and I thought it was getting a little bit too hot. At that exact moment when I thought that, Bella whined just a little and looked at me. I kind of whisperd: "I know sweetie. Just three more bowls of water and that's it." She stopped whining and after the 1st bowl of water she started keep her tounge out and after the third we were out. I quickly showerd Bella with water to cool her down a bit before letting her run in the whole house, because even if it's room temperature in the house, when you come from the sauna it feels freezing. So after a very quick shower she's off running about like she's mad! :D She enjoyed every bit of the sauna experience and I think that is really fun! Ben on the other hand HATES the sauna. I don't think he hates the heat, but the "schhhhhhhhhh" -sound when you pour the water on the really hot stones. Poor baby. I think sauna is good for you to some extent. When you're in there your skin starts to itch a little. That's because your dead skin cells come to the surface and when you after the sauna go to the shower and scrub yourself, you can get all the dead skin cells off your body. This makes you feel fresh! So a little sauna now and then with not too much heat is ok, but then there are people who REALLY love the sauna. The temperature can rise to up to 200-300 degrees celcius. I watched this guinness record attempt where a bunch of people were in a sauna and the temperature just rised and rised. The person who could stay in there the longes would attemt to get his/her name in the guinness record book and would allso win the contest. I don't remember how high the temperature went, but they took a frying pan and a chicken egg just to show how hot it is and they FRIED THE CHICKEN EGG ON THE FRYING PANN!! Now, the frying pann wasn't on the "kiuas" but on the benches they sat on!! So you can imagine the heat! THAT is very, VERY dangerous, because you don't just risk heat strike or dehydration, but allso heart and lung falioure and collapse. So... you have to use your brain in the sauna. I know my limits and I know my dogs limits and the minute I even think it's starting to be too much, I get out and at the same time (ofcourse) so does Bella. But I must say, it's fun to have a dog that enjoys the sauna the way I do. :) /Crest

Yay! I can't wait for Bella to start loosing her baby teeth. She's already 13 weeks old (14 on tuesday), so they should start to loosen any day now. (I hope, because they are so SHARP!) I remember when Ben lost his milk teeth. I found a few on the floor and checked his mouth every day like the mouth would have been a little birhtday gift. (I know, I'm weird. :?) I still have a little tiny box with Ben's teeth I found on the floor etc. :)

What on earth am I going to do with her?!
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
But this is so weird! I went to the bank so I left the house entirelly. Mom was home with the dogs and dad gave me a ride (because I don't have my drivers licence yet). When I came home just now, mom told me Bella whined a little, but not much at all. So... I can leave the house, but I can't leave the room. :o
